If I heard it correctly, how come Soham Desmukh's daughter is Ankita mahate... shouldn't the last name be Desmukh? or did he take Balan's last name which I am not sure what it is at all.

For dramatic purposes it couldn't be Deshmukh - need to stretch out some mystery first for Arjun, no? I also thought maybe it's Balan's name but I'm not convinced...intriguing backstory to be hoped for!

Wonder whether it could be last name of Gauri which also I am not sure what it is. Anyone? If it is then may be Gauri kicked Soham out of house or something or better yet divorced him and kept her maiden name. That is one possibility. Or Soham married someone else whose maiden name was Mahate which Ankita took as her last name after her parents divorce. That is another possibility.

1. Gauri's last name was Shahane

2. Balan's last name cannot be Mahate, I think Mahate is a Maharashtrian last name and Balan is Bihari

3. Perhaps Soham assumed the last name of Mahate to escape from police.

according to one article, Balan's last name was/is Singh

What is Varsha's last name from her first marriage? May be it is Mahate?

Mahateja is one of the names of Lord Shiva in the eulogy by Vishnu.

Maybe it was her mother's attempt to give her a godly connection... whomever her mother was...

Satish's last name was Deshpande, but in between (or I think when he started in the show), it was something else. We all know about CVs memory problems naa 😵
