Since both Arjun and Purvi have been reluctant to be real with their feelings, Archana's words were like gold to Arjun...and now she needs to be so frank with Purvi.
Archana's words caused Arjun to finally get in touch with his feelings & actions. He never wanted to hurt Ovi, he was always clear how much he loved Purvi but he had no direction, was confused how to handle it. Sensitive people, not wanting to hurt others, often get hurt themselves. Arjun, in a teenage moment of trying to protect his friend Ovi when she was being harassed, pretended to be her fiance. He never meant it as the real thing but never knew how to undo it. Now he does.Even though I had some temporary frustration with Purvi 😆 I am back to defending her. I believe she does love Arjun deeply and simply was filled with false guilt about Arjun's love for her bc of both families and Arjun's own ambivalence.Until yesterday, when he made himself strong and clear to her, I think she thought that deep down he must love Ovi more, hence the real reason she let him go.Now, she knows that's not true. And knowing that, at last quieted her down. I only hope now she can be strengthened in receiving Arjun's love this time, and not feel guilty about it. She shouldn't have to, there is no reason.I hope that Archu will be firm and strong with her just like she was with Arjun.I love Archu's matured wisdom and confidence. 🤗The cv's are inviting trouble and frustration by creating the very odd and ridiculous Onir track...from the beginning...it has never held water, is senseless and unnecessary. I really hope they bring Onir and Shalini together quickly and let them move on and out. Onir's behavior isn't sacrificial to me, it's just very weird...😒 and I still think there is something fishy. We still don't know his past...Anyway...hats off to Archu and to Arjun..

Dear Naava,
There is no pleasing you at all!😉
You are so fond of tyaags, and here you have a true blue tyaag ki murti, practically oozing mahaanta from every pore, who is actually straining every nerve to bring your beloved pair together, and STILL you carp and complain! 😉 Have a heart!
What more do you want him to do? He has already destroyed himself for keeps at the behest of your favourite. The dark speculations about his being a bigamist proved to be unfounded. Now I begin to think you will not be happy unless he is proved to be a cannibal or a serial killer!
As for thinking that his sacrifice is 'very weird', I agree, but for a different reason. I think he is a confounded idiot to have wasted his life on this woman, who does not deserve him at all.
As for the rest, as I wrote once earlier, those who think that Onir is 'too good to be true' would probably say the same of Gandhiji if he were to land up amongst us today. Not that I am comparing a Balaji character to the Mahatma, but the point is that the world has grown so cynical that it cannot believe in simple goodness any more. It looks weird to them, and too good to be true.
But et tu, Naava?
Shyamala
Oh my Shyamala...😆 I have never been so misinterpreted in a long time. 😆 I know neither of us is too active on the forum anymore, but surely you've read my occasional posts anyway? So many generalizations and assumptions..That's not like you dear. Goodness !! No hard feelings though. Truly.!!First of all I hate tyaags as you call them. Never in all my time on the forum have I ever been in favor of extreme sacrificing. It's wrong, unhealthy, and almost always backfires. Why did you assume I like them?No one is really my beloved pair, I watch for ARMAN first, then I do love ARVI, but am full of both praise & criticism for anyone I feel is acting rightly or wrongly. I praise good things that are done, & criticize the wrong doing of those characters I am fond of, and those I am not fond of.As to Onir, I have been 100% consistent from the beginning. I didn't like Onir's character from day one (having nothing to do with Shakti the actor who is great ). I think his behavior was weird from the start. And I said so. I'm not carping and complaining. I just don't like him. I didn't like Balan or Dharmesh either. It's ok?My distaste for Onir the character It has nothing at all to do with "being too good to be true"...People who hide their pasts are always suspect in my opinion...hiding one's past, immediately marrying someone you also know nothing about, accepting no conjugal relations as normal, sleeping on the floor as normal, ... that's weird Shyamala. plus..well i just thought his whole doctor set up was strange. It had nothing to do with being a bigamist or any of those things you mentioned. My affection for Purvi lies in the fact that I think she has been greatly misunderstood, She's impulsive and doesn't think through her actions, and she has a lot of things to overcome. Only Teju seems to have escaped problems relating...that happens though. One child is intact emotionally, another is not.I do believe that Purvi and Arjun should be together, I think they have a destiny to do so...but she has to also come to grips with her own feelings first...part of her earthly task. It was also part of ARjun's earthly task...but then we get into far too deep a subject with these thoughts. 😆I hope she can do it (get in touch with her feelings and accept Arjun's love) and I hope that Archana can help her. I want the best for Ovi also. Why not?The truth is that the CV's can make the characters be anything they want to,,,can turn them on a dime, or not. It's all in their hands...Speaking of hands (and wrists) how are you doing with the typing and pain? Hope it's improved.🤗

My dear Naava,
I seem to have goofed up big time on your take on the tyaag syndrome; probably the result of frequenting the forum so rarely that I have grown rusty!😉If my knees were not so creaky, I would do some uthak baithak, kaan pakadke, but as things are, you will have to make do with an apology!
This said,it is one thing for you to dislike Onir on what looks like a whim, but quite another to club Onir with the likes of Balan and Dharmesh, both inveterate villains. Whereas Onir has not done a single bad thing (except the baby swap, but that was only half his fault) since he appeared on the scene. I am almost speechless at the very idea, and as you know, it takes a lot to make me speechless!😉
I know that it is folly to expatiate on characters whose actors are least interested in them, but still, let me indulge myself one last time (hopefully!). You accuse Onir of :
- hiding his past. Where has he done that? He tells Purvi bits and pieces about his mother, his school, going to temples during the pujas etc. There is no indication that he was asked about his past life by Purvi and he refused to answer. Purvi actually tells him she was an orphan, which is a lie direct, hiding everything except that she is an unwed mother to be. Not that he cares, but then, when she can lie about her past and not be criticised for that, why should he be blamed for not handing over a resume of his life to her? He is a world famous, highly respected, idealistic doctor, and that would be enough for any prospective inlaws. Many brides, especially those married to NRIs. know much less of their husbands.
- that he immediately marries someone he knows nothing about. Well, he falls in love with her at first sight, and please don't say that this too was weird!😉 So, when he sees that she is heading for more trouble than she can cope with, he wants to protect her. So he proposes to her, making it clear that it will be a marriage solely to give her and her child respectability and that he will make no demands of her. As for his not knowing anything about her, he trusts his instinct, and he has no one else to whom he is answerable, no parents or anyone else. So why should he not marry her?And if it had not been immediate, there would have been no point in it, as pretty soon the scandal would have been out in the open.
- that he accepts no conjugal relations as normal. No, he does not. What he does is to have enough delicacy, and enough sensitivity for Purvi's likely feelings not to make any such demands on her till she comes round to it of her own free will. In fact, when, after being dressed down by Savita and Sulochana, Purvi makes some awkward overtures towards him, he turns her down gently. He does that because he sets a value on himself, and he does not want physical intimacy with the woman he loves, but who, he knows, does not love him, as an act of gratitude or of charity. He wants to be wanted for himself, and he is prepared to wait for that as long as need be, even forever. I understand such a stance perfectly, and I respect it.
- that he accepts sleeping on the floor as normal. Again, he does not. Leaving aside the folly of the CVs in changing things between Kolkatta, where he was sleeping on the other side of the same bed,and Mumbai, he sleeps on the floor so as to spare Purvi even the slightest apprehension about his making any overtures towards physical intimacy. She should not have accepted it, and insisted that they continue as they were in Kolkatta. Did she not trust him? If not,why not?
So you see, your stated reasons for disliking Onir do not really hold up to examination, and so I think you just decided not to like him😉. That is fine, for that is your right. But if, as you say yourself, "I praise good things that are done, & criticize the wrong doing of those characters I am fond of, and those I am not fond of" then you have to do that for Onir as well, even if you dislike him, my dear Naava.
Please do not equate the tiresome but transparently good Onir with prize thugs like Balan and Dharmesh. What harm has Onir ever done anyone? As for all that he has done for his Mishti, the list is endless. Very few husbands anywhere would be so caring, so supportive, so affectionate, and this when she needed it the most. Even his very stupid tyaag now is not at anyone's expense, unlike Purvi's, which was based first on a sort of human sacrifice of Arjun, and later, during the baby swap, led to the professional and personal disgrace and destruction of Onir, the two men who loved her the most.
Onir is a fool to have given up so much for this Tar Baby of a wife, who uses him when she needs him but when he is down and out, does even have the sensitivity to understand what a man in his present circumstances would be going thru, or to care about him. That is the one thing for which I would blame him unreservedly. I don't care what Arjun and Purvi do with their faded, tattered love story, and if they get together, it is fine by me. But I would like Onir to get away from this demolition queen, somehow get his licence back, and go back to treating the poor of Kolkatta for free.
My wrists. It is very sweet of you to be concerned about that. Abandoning the forum did them a lot of good, but of late I have not been disciplined, not at all, and I am half afraid of the problem resurfacing. I shall thus make a resolution, once I have got this off, to be good once more!😉And the way the serial is going, I should not find it too difficult to keep this resolution!
