Sushant Singh Rajput's Next Big Films

Usually a quiet guy who takes his own time to open up with new people, Sushant Singh Rajput is one of the most sought-after actors in B-Town today. Television had rendered him much fame and his courtyard was loaded with awards for his remarkable portrayal of Manav Deshmukh in Pavitra Rishta before he lapped up a dream role in Abhishek Kapoor's Kai Po Che!. The film went on to gain critical as well as commercial success, and there has been no looking back for the lucky man since.

Obviously, we have a much high-spirited, confident Sushant with us today. Before he changed his address to filmdom, the man had already served us with his delectable acting bits, along with taking us by wonderment with his terrific dancing skills, on reality shows Zara Nachke Dikha 2 and Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa 4. The road to success surely had an easy way for him with these proven feats.

High on success, Sushant believes in keeping his feet firmly on the ground. Kai Po Che!'s blockbuster status may have tagged him as the next big thing, but he still believes in maintaining a low-key profile, focusing on signing brilliant scripts instead. The smart chap has definitely toed the mark, as his kitty boasts of some really exciting offers. What's more, Sushant has struck a three-film deal with Yash Raj Films.

SHUDDH DESI ROMANCE

We have relished the rom-com's quirky, peppy teasers that define the otherwise much-abused Bollywood term 'hatke' in its truest form. While his first film deprived him of a love angle, Sushant is romancing the bubbly babe Parineeti Chopra and newcomer Vaani Kapoor in his next. Directed by Maneesh Sharma and produced by Aditya Chopra, Shuddh Desi Romance will see Sushant in a boy-next-door avatar. The promos present him as a likeable guy, whose crazy attempts to woo his lady love leave a smile on our faces. The film releases on 13th September this year.

PEEKAY

Though Rajkumar Hirani's political satire has Aamir Khan and Anushka Sharma as the leads, the director has ensured to benefit out of Sushant's fine acting skills by roping him in a crucial role. The fact that he approached the KPC stunner only after Abhishek Kapoor showed him his film's rushes, is proof enough that Rajput won't just add to the cast of this Khan-flick, which also stars Sanjay Dutt. The film was initially set to hit the cinema-halls this Christmas, but due to its delayed filming schedules, its release has been now pushed to next year.

FITOOR

Sushant's KPC director is all geared up to adapt yet another famous novel, and when it came to zeroing in on his male lead, the filmmaker didn't think twice before engaging his new favourite chap for the role. Based on Charles Dickens' The Great Expectations, Fitoor has another USP – its leading girl. None other than our sensuous lady Katrina Kaif will star opposite Sushant in the love drama. Set to release next year, the film will go on floors this November.

DETECTIVE BYOMKESH BAKSHI

With this film, Sushant will strike a hat-trick of films based on books. The actor has come on board to essay the role of the protagonist in ace writer Sharadindu Bandyopadhyay's popular fictional series. Co-produced by YRF and Dibakar Banerjee Productions, Detective Byomkesh Bakshi will be directed by Dibakar. Set against the pre-independence era in 1942, the film will focus on the early life of Byomkesh, who is fresh out of college.

Hmmm... that's quite a lot to promise superstardom to B-Town's latest heartthrob.
