For me it ended when the jodi of Sushant Ankita broke up and the character of Archana changed from a good hearted simple girl to a self righteous feminist . I love Hiten but i like to see the same jodis till the end . Hiten did a fab job to resuurect the show but the script writers messed up the character of Archana and the way they wrote Purvi was beyond feminism .

I kinda knew you would say this :D

For me the show ended when ArMan got reunited after the whole Shravani track. Even though by then the main issue of the story had gone with the wind (mother wanting a perfect guy for her daughter and getting a mechanic instead) and I had many grouses with the way the whole story was handled too.. yet.. at least there was some closure to the story that we got.

Shyamala,

Well, lets grab anyone we find and use those blasted boots.

Now, regarding Onir's fate - if the grand reunion is really planned, he will be banished forever without a trace. Stones or no stones. If they are to keep Purvi and him together, the license will be magically and illogically restored.

I have to admire the folks on IF - all are trying to seek some method in this madness.

Dear Strega,

I would be happy to oblige, except that by now, I suspect that there are NO 'writers', of whatever calibre or lack thereof, for this benighted mess that passes for a serial. It is my belief that they ask for suggestions from everyone from Ekta Kapoor to the doorman, put the chits in a box, and get someone to close his/her eyes and pick one out every morning.

Anyhow, if it is going to end at least by Dec, good riddance. And as for all those so desperately hoping for an ArVi reunion, I am very happy for them. They deserve that for having kept the faith for so long, despite both these characters having had every attractive quality - and there were many at one time - leached out of them, till they seem like empty husks of their original selves.

Onir can of course go back to Kolkatta, but thanks to his Mishti, the locals would very likely have laid by a stock of stones to greet him with, plus he has lost his career, a minor point that seems, by now, to have slipped the mind of not only his Mishti, but the CVs as well. So I presume he will be reduced to sellling vada pav.

Shyamala

I am butting in but for me the show ended with the four year leap. Archana in her chiffon sarees, mechanic Manav as suited-booted businessman and Savita with her doggy Damu were all too alien in the chawl set up. I too was elated when the idea was first proposed with that promo of Manav looking at the Mumbai skyline but gradually realised that PR's charm was in its simplicity and the lower middle class set up. The final nail in the coffin was the Soham track. I for one craved to see ArMan with their son but was bereft of that as an audience. I would have tolerated it all only if PR cvs would have kept ArMan's family intact. That adorable kid with those pretty little feet was just used as a prop in the show. The show now is just a shadow of its past.

Balika Vadhu started much earlier than Pavitra Rishta but still continues to be interesting due to better handling of tracks by its CVs.

i personally think running a show continuously for 3 to5 years is tuff .as both actors writters directors producer get exhausted and tired its better to work on seasonal format.if ekta adopt seasonal format for pavitra rishta then she get time to think on story more sensibly.concept wise pavitra rishta is excellent as it is more mass appealing one of the best shos of balaji.

Bonne feel free to butt in anytime! I agree with you, the four year leap was when the show ended for me as well. Seeing Manav reach great heights was wonderful but the fact that they stuck in the chawl despite their new social status was a little hard to take and of course EK left the D clan in the chawl to keep a semblance of their simple middle class life intact in the show, which made it more ludicrous. Savita and her Damu were a bit too much reminding me of the elderly ladies I see with their tiny pooches on the way to school sometimes. It was for laughs but I felt so disconnected from the show and its characters. The Soham track was awful and the CVs attempt to fix their blunder was absurd.

A seasonal format would have done wonders for almost all of these shows. The actors would get a break instead of having to shoot almost every day for however long the serial lasts and the writers and creatives would have also had a better shot at penning stories at a more leisurely pace unlike the way they do things, changing the script at a moment's notice and writing in new nonsense scenarios every day. I think there was a TB article on why the seasonal format wouldn't work because some TV bigwigs (producers, directors, channel heads alike) said that the Indian audience would feel a disconnect once a show goes to its seasonal break because they are so used to seeing a show go on continuously with no breaks. Also, they felt that the audience would lose interest once a show's season ended and may not be interested enough when the new season starts. I think someone needs to give the seasonal format a try with fiction dramas and see how it fares. Reality shows tend to do pretty well, but for fictional dramas it would be an experiment to see if this kind of format would work. Personally, if an audience feels interested and captivated by a show, they will return to it, regardless of the format so there's no harm in trying the seasonal format.

I tolerated a lot with PR, but it ended for me when Archana touched Manav's feet before going into court against him.

I am an active member of the forum but that is more because of the social interation with friends ..
The show pretty much ended for me when both Manav and Archana became rich and when Soham was about to be given for adoption , I just hated the show so much , that was just too much ...
That was the last I was really connected to the show ...
But I love to see Ankita so I keep watching more for her than anything else ...

Why did they want to give Soham for adoption? To Varsha?
