And some poster asked why Purvi would keep Pari when she left Arjun - one does not follow the other. She left Arjun not because she did not want him or hated him. She did not need to abort the baby to give Ovi "a happy life"

Gosh - I am really bothered by that comment by Ovi 😡

For me, Archana's reaction is not wrong. And to Purvi, Archana was shocked and dismayed that Purvi betrayed the trust.

But what Purvi said was that it wasn't a "pre-conceived" act which is true. Both Arjun and Purvi did not plan for the night, it wasn't a tryst with youthful lust, it happened due to various reasons, one of them was the near-death experience and the fear of losing one of your loved ones. And neither of them are justifying their act.

When Archana could accept her goonda son without judging him, when she could accept Varsha who lived with a man for 18 years not being married to him, when she did not stop Ovi from taking her blessings when they came married, Archana's reactions looked a little over the line when Purvi was repeatedly begging her for forgiveness.

Archana knows about Onir now. Archana knows about Pari now. Archana herself heard from Purvi a day before that she is nothing without her "aayi". Archana as a mother should also deduce that it is not time to disown Purvi who does not have any other sahara emotionally. Archana is justified in her anger, frustration and not wanting to listen to Purvi now but Archana is not justified in the total rejection that Purvi is currently experiencing.

But I do hope and trust that Archana, unlike Manav, will see Pari's truth as one more problem of her children that she needs to resolve. She will not blame Purvi was Arjun-Ovi's marriage fiasco as she knew in her heart of hearts from day 1 that the marriage is not built on a solid foundation of trust and love. And hopefully, this rejection of her last hope will teach Purvi a few lessons and make her realise what an emotional fool that she has been. She needed to be punished but not to be abandoned.

And lastly, I found all the actors fab yesterday especially Ankita in her expressions and voice modulations. When facing her mom's rejection, Asha's portrayal of Purvi's grief and the sense of someone just learning that their last hope in life is lost went straight to my heart. She was brilliant. 👏

Love this! I get archus reaction though. It's of a typical mo, but you make excellent points to think about!!!

I am just waiting to see Archana's reaction on the fact that Purvi swapped Pari with Ovi's stillborn. I want to see her reactions on that. I want to see what comfort she is going to give Ovi on the lost of her baby and the fact that Purvi cheated her of seeing her child.
I don't care that Purvi had sex with Arjun before marriage. That is quite common and insignificant in front of the bigger crime of cheating Ovi her baby.

Let's see if Archana has any feelings for the grand child she has lost.

Vasu, I watched the epi on TV now (earlier watched it on my phone) and somehow feel Archu is mad at Purvi for being an idiot more than anything else. Archu has always put what she feels is right above everything else even if at times she has not had the guts to act against unfairness and injustice. This time around, I have full faith in Archana, she is a mother first above all else and she will not let either child down. She will do what she thinks is fair to both. Let us wait and see. She will not put one daughter over the other in spite of Ovi's hopeful face after Purvi left the room.

Strega, that question of Ovi's bothered me too. The girl doesn't even think before asking.

Maybe I am being dumb here but I am hoping against hope that the girl somewhere somehow was touched by the truth in Purvi's story and both girls will begin to mend the fence. I am willing to give Ovi the benefit of the doubt as another member suggested on another post that Ovi was asking because she herself was not attached to her own baby at the beginning.

I will take it even a step further and accord that maybe Ovi was just being curious in her usual thoughtless Ovi way.

Wonderful post Jhanvi di.

I think Archana's reaction is justified she couldn't believe that Purvi could do this..
But like Vasu said Purvi needs to be punished but not abandoned.

More that anything the comment by Ovi about why Purvi did not do the abortion was really what made me angry. Why should she abort the child just because it is Arjun's? It is her child also. Purvi could have easily done abortion and no one would have knew of this night whatsoever, but she didn't becuase she couldn't kill her own child.

But in India , in a middle class society ( from where Purvi comes from ) It is not accepted to do this without marriage ...and if we don't care about these things then might as well go and live in a jungle ...there no one will ever question ...
But Purvi wants to live in a society , in a parivaar , be accepted as someone's wife , daughter , sister ...then I am afraid that these few rules she will have to go along with ..
She saw her mother's reaction to her SMS with Arjun...Archana was firm , ' my Purvi cannot do something so cheap ' then also she did this ????
If she was drunk then maybe I would have understood it but she was full awake and In full senses ..There is no excuse for what she did ...
Purvi has butchered her mother;s heart and I hope she hates herself for the way she has behaved ...and at least from now onward be carefull..
Sharafat and izzat are not in the married Bengali saree , the big sindoor and the mangal sutra but sharafat is in your heart and in your eyes ..
Children should not break their parents trust just to have some good time because they are their parents entire life ...their parents have put their whole lives in giving them good values .

Tanya, totally agree with all your points, 50 or 70, it is their private business. That is not what I meant, if at 50 and 60, mature as they are, they can feel love in every way, I hope Archana understands how things got out of hand with the young ones. Not excusing Arjun or Purvi's behavior but just saying it is human.

As for Purvi wanting to live in society, yes, she does want that, she has been raised with those values and she has gone against her very core beliefs and that must be as humiliating to her as much as it is shameful to her mother.

However much a mother is ashamed by her children's behavior, I think the pain and hurt is much more than the shame. I think Archana will hurt for Purvi as much as for herself. Purvi might have broken Archana's trust but that is not the tragedy here. Purvi's life is in shambles as is Ovi's, whether Purvi went against Archana's sanskars or not, is irrelevant at the moment, Purvi's plight and what she has done even with all good intentions is what is the issue here. I think Archana will understand this and feel badly for both daughters. Any mother would. A mother's instinct would be rage at her daughter not so much because her daughter had gone against all the sanskars drilled into her but because the dumb daughter has proceeded to ruin her life. Archana's pained expression at Purvi's answer to Ovi's audacious question as to why she didn't abort Pari was so telling.

The more I think about it, I hope Ovi was just being curious as otherwise the abortion question would be even more ugly than it sounded. This is not a hypothetical baby Ovi is asking about, she is questioning the existence of the baby she cared for as her own. I don't think even Ovi could stoop to that level of selfishness.
