Makers of Sushant-Parineeti's next will play the old iconic song in their first digital teaser
Yash Raj Films' (YRF) next, starring Sushant Singh Rajput and Parineeti Chopra, has a unique title ' Shudh Desi Romance (SDR). And to market the film, which is directed by Maneesh Sharma, the makers have come up with a unique strategy as well.

A source close to the production house reveals, "The unusual title has created a lot of buzz among cinemagoers. This time around, YRF will be releasing their first digital teaser promo before the theatrical trailer. They've never done this before and are looking forward to it. The film has a fresh theme and feel to it."
YRF is known to market its films aggressively and with innovative approaches. For their last release, Aurangzeb, they even held a mock press conference where Arjun Kapoor interviewed himself, as he has a double role in the film.
And we're also informed that the soundtrack used for SDR's trailer will feature a pleasant surprise. "The digital teaser will have an old track called 'Ek chidiya, anek chidiya'. This ditty is one of the most iconic songs from the '70s, which would often play on the television channel Doordarshan," says the source.
Ask why they plan on using this particular tune and the source says, "The track encompasses the real spirit of the film, which is set in the hinterland of India. In the trailer, it is picturised on a montage of Sushant and Parineeti. The song gives a hilarious take to the scene." The film also stars newcomer Vaani Kapoor.
After making a hit debut in Abhishek Kapoor's Kai Po Che (KPC), Sushant Singh Rajput is now set to team up with the producer who first launched him as an actor â Ekta Kapoor. Sushant began his career on television with the Balaji serial, Kis Desh Mein Hai Mera Dil. Later, he went on to become a household name as the lead character in another of Ekta's shows â Pavitra Rishta. However, in 2011, after he quit the serial, reports of an alleged fallout between Ekta and Sushant surfaced.
Now, Ekta is apparently backing her cousin Abhishek's yet-untitled next. The film is based on Charles Dickens's classic novel, Great Expectations, and the actor will play the character inspired by Philip Pirrip, also known as Pip.
Though Ekta refuses to divulge details about the film, she does say, "We are in talks with Abhishek about it. Let's see how it goes." Sushant, who is busy shooting for Rajkumar Hirani's P.K. in Belgium, could not be reached for a comment.
Since KPC's release, the actor has signed several big projects. This is the fourth major production he has been roped in for after Shudh Desi Romance, P.K. and Dibakar Banerjee's untitled next.

Abhishek Kapoor has often said that he cast newbies in Kai Po Che because he was done chasing the stars. Things seem to have changed very quickly for the filmmaker, as his next will star Katrina Kaif as the female lead. Recently, the director approached the actress for the role and after a four-hour long meeting, Katrina gave her consent. Apparently, she has loved the script and is pretty kicked about the project.
The film is an adaptation of a Charles Dickens classic-- Great Expectations. He has his cousin Ekta Kapoor in the producer's seat. Set in early Victorian England, the bildungsroman that charts the journey of Pip, an orphan, was the most autobiographical novel of Dickens, apart from David Copperfield. A source said: "Abhishek was going through a lean phase after Rock On, but after the success of Kai Po Che things are looking good for him again. After all Katrina is one of the top stars." Mirror had previously reported that Abhishek wanted his protg Sushant Singh Rajput to play the protagonist--the orphan Philip Pirrip.
However, there were no confirmation from Sushant's end and rumours surfaced that he might not be able to take up the project due to date issues. But at the time of going to press a friend of Sushant called up and rubbished the claims, saying: "Sushant is indeed doing the film. He is sorting out the dates for his mentor. After launching Anushka Sharma and Parineeti Chopra, Yash Raj Films is all set to project a new face. And just like her predecessors, model Vaani Kapoor has landed a three-film deal with Aditya Chopra's banner.
Sources say Vaani has been cast in Maneesh Sharma's Shudhh Desi Romance, co-starring Sushant Singh Rajput and Parineeti.
An insider says, "Just like Anushka, the Delhi-based Vaani too has been a model and has done many brand endorsements. She was spotted by YRF officials during an event in the capital. She met Adi about a year back and the filmmaker was extremely impressed by her. He asked his casting team to immediately audition her and she was signed on for the film." The source says that Vaani has been made to sign a contract with the production house to not make any public appearances before formally introducing her to the media.
Apparently, during the shoot of the film, her real name was kept under wraps to prevent outsiders from identifying her. "She was addressed by her screen name on the sets. YRF is considering her for their big-ticket projects and who knows she might even do a film directed by Aditya Chopra himself," states the source.
