What the hell are these sitcoms promoting, sleeping around, getting pregnant, hiding from future/current husband... is this what they are promoting for our younger generation... all of these shows should cease to exist.. pathetic... not one show on Zee is worth watching anymore... all the shows promote extra marital affairs, young girls getting pregnant before marriage, sleeping around... Paitra Rishta is a blasphemy and also a insult to the words Pavitra Rishta... really really deplorable... had stopped watching the show, just read the maha-episode's written update... and what do you know... same old beaten story line... band karo bakwaas... High time Ankita should quit PR and move on...😡

You're forgetting one thing - the guy and girl were in love and still are. Everything happens for a reason and this event just happened to occur. Everyone makes mistakes, no one is perfect. However, in the end - we are forgiven. On another thread, Adity mentioned how in the Bible, there's mentions of people murdering and committing adultery, however - they are still accepted and forgiven by God. This is the cycle, we as humans, go through. We sin, then we are forgiven in some way. I agree with you somewhat, this doesn't set a good example for younger viewers. But who are we to go in follow what happens in a TV show? I guess you could consider me as one of the "younger viewers", but I know better than to follow and live my life how a character is living theirs on a TV show.

Pavitra Rishta isn't promoting this lifestyle. This show is an exaggerated, hence drama, depiction of what reality is. It's becoming a societal norm to consummate, even have children, before marriage. Why do you think the divorce rate or cases of unhappy marriages are rising? Lack of trust that increasingly develops between couples in the modern age.
What is more appaling is that people are trying to find VALUES in a SOAP OPERA? Have you ever seen a drama that's educational? If you have, it probably wasn't garnering high TRPs. CVs add unimaginable twists and turns, even into the depths in immorality, to capture viewers. For half an hour a day, we see what we can only find in bizarre fantasies. It's a real shame if people are using FICTION soaps to dictate the moral compass of these daily lives. It's only entertaining through the kaleidoscope of the TV screen, not living like this. I feel more sorry for the viewers who turn soaps into their lives than the CVs who whip up sadistic tracks.

your two statements contradict each other, in one you are saying it has become the new norm, and then you say its a bizarre fantasy... and you believe that fiction does not affect reality, when it is shown over and over again... there are countless studies that prove otherwise... especially affecting the life's of the not so modern and literate young adults..for whom the telly is the medium to... welcome to the world of modern age

You missed my other statement dear, in red. A drama is an exaggeration of real life and shouldn't be adopted in one's way of life. For TRPs, CVs delve into the depth or irrationality. Drama keeps building and people keep adopting the standard of life in a fiction show.
Exactly, in green, and its a shame. When our youth is looking to soap operas for a moral compass, we must acknowledge that there is a greater societal problem at hand (i.e. gender inequality). Society raises a child dear, not just two, or even one, loving parent(s).

All Indian serials promote bigomy, extra marital affair, no consummation after marriage, pre marital sex, teenagers getting engaged to be married, lack of trust and respect between the couple, Girl is still hung up on her family while married to husband, abortion, killing unborn child, ETC ETC
I fail to see why EK is showing garbage..
I agree a lot has changed in India but some of it is just way too much to digest..

i dont think soaps are meant to teach us moral values.. they are just for entertainment.. and the younger generation is matured enough to understand the difference between good and bad.. they dont need tv or soaps to learn moral values... its solely for entertainment and take it as it is.. all these shows are fictional and what all happens is far away from reality... there will not be anything outside like this...
if people really learn manners from soaps then atlast in any show the good will win over bad... and people should remember and learn that and should not commit any mistakes but it is not like that... so it is clear that people watch soaps only for entertainment and drama.. if they get that from the show they watch it warna they quit.. that's it...
and in any show which even starts with a new thought revolves round and reaches the same tracks as they are the most preffered and viewed by audience so they do it to gain trp's and for their living...

Adultery is not uncommon in our country and Ekta is showing it, fine. But promoting it in the name of pure love and glorifying it as eternal love is sickening. Although I started watching this show with Arvi lovestory, the scene made me cringe and its really sad to see how people are going out of their way to support it.

The latest rape incidents just made me wonder how Ekta used to show that literally in every show for drama when she was ruling the roost. Thank god, that has stopped now!
