Dear Jyothi,
I am glad you liked it, and I hope it made you feel a bit better. He is a stupid and exasperating boy, but he is neither a cheat nor a Casanova. If he had been either or both, you can bet that he would be very comfortable now, juggling girlfriends like balls in the air, and not a problem in sight.
I was watching that
lauki ka halwa and the
khatai in the garage scene yesterday, and it reminded me of that other one that I had written about at such length, when she brings him lunch to his
kholi , and washes up afterwards. I felt very nostalgic, and very angry with both of them for what they have reduced themselves to. Of course more with her than with him, for she was the prime mover.
If you ever watched that hilltop scene, you would remember how ghastly Purvi was, in terms of both looks and behaviour. To get him up there at that hour, she tells him over the phone
Tumhe mujhpe vishwas hai na? I never got over the damned deviousness and wrongheadedness of it, and that is why I do not at all buy Priya's defence of her and the motive for what she did, whatever bee and some others might say. She used him ruthlessly, and now she is luxuriating in the fold of her
parivaar, with her Manav Baba, Teju, her
aai and even Savita all drooling over her, and a halo fixed firmly around her head. And where is poor Arjun? Out in an emotional Siberia.
