Nirvan, in a sense Purvi is much more to be blamed, because Ovi is her adopted sister and Archana/Manav her adopted parents. Anything that happens to the 2 girls directly affects all. Besides, it was her decision to give Arjun up (for whatever reason), so it isn't right for her to go back on her own decision and put all 3 lives at risk. But, then although Purvi is shown to be dreaming about Arjun, she hasn't been shown to actively seek Arjun out.

As for Arjun, if you think about him, he isn't related to Deshmukhs or Karanjkar, he is a damad and in a sense, if free to do as he pleases. He isn't bounded by what Archana and Manav will feel, if he divorces one girl for another. Arjun should or could consider DK's opinion in this matter, and DK's opinion does matter to him not only as a child also because he inherits all of DK's wealth. But, he doesn't care (or DK doesn't care) and is shown to actively seek out Purvi, either by calling, trying to meet her or dreaming sensuous dreams. So, I do blame him (and Purvi too) and maybe a bit more. He could walk of his relationship with Ovi…but gives a BS explanation of why he is continuing with it…to me, he just like to 2 timing them as he always did…the character is completed butchered, thanks to CVs.

My POV only. What Arjun and Teju are feeling thinking is much more natural & logical abt Soham than Sanskari purvi.

Loved both your posts. I don't think a single factor as Parvariish or a genealogical tree can determine how a child will turn out. It probably is predictive of a future, but it can't be definitive. I mean all parents hope and pray and do everything possible so that all kids turn out same, but between a sibling say of 5, non will be exactly the same to each other. I mean both Archana and Varsha have been very different individual from the very beginning. It just doesn't happen even when siblings going to same school, doing the same things and with the same set of parents turn out differently. The science isn't as simple as that, I feel. True, that not all poor kids or kids living in a chawl turn out to be criminals nor does wealth or education assures a good kid. What I think happens that there is that genes, environments, friends, educations all play its role in shaping and individual and at some point , the individual's individuality (in absence of a better word) or his mental makeup defines ultimately who the person will become, even with all other things remaining constant. Actually, even this 'external thing' isn't constant; because each individual will ultimately react to it differently. This individual reaction is probably what we can attribute to the Soul or that individual entity (God) that ultimately shapes a human being and his reaction into. So,for example, if a person say is slapped, one person might slap back and another might chose to forgive. What defines these 2 very different reactions, I believe the soul/individuality/atma that we all are born with.

Durga Puja -

For most bongs, Durga Puja signifies a daughter visiting her parent with 4 kids after a year. So, bongs welcome their daughter after a year and for 5 days . Since, the daughter is visiting after 1 yr, the celebration is grand and things for each day. Generally, bongs try to visit home during Durga puja, it is totally a time for family and friends, with foods, sweets, new cloths. The atmosphere is of fun and people just dress up. The puja itself is for 5 days of festivities starting with Shasthi, Saptami, Ashtami, Navami and Vijoya Dashami

Since, this isn't the normal time to invoke Durga, this puja is also called akalbodhan, as we are awakening the god untimely. Originally Durga Puja falls in Mar/Apr and some families do celebrate it at that time too. But, this akalbodhan puja started with Lord Rama seeking blessing for Ma Shakti in the form of Durga (because she symbolizes the killing of ashura or Evil) before entering Lanka and killing Ravana.

One interesting story that is still associated with the Puja is Rama's invoking the Goddess Durga and reciting Chandi-puja. This puja happens on the auspicious moment when Ashtami ends and the beginning of Navami's (so Sandhi khon). In his prayers, he invokes Chandi , by offering 108 of Lotus and 108 Diyas. Since, there was only 107 lotus flowers, he decided to offer the Goddess his eye during the Puja , The Goddess Durga was pleased and Rama was blessed with victory. This Puja is still done and many people fast until after the puja. Ravana is killed the next day at Navami (signifies by the eating of meat). Also, during Navami, we have animals and Vegetables scarifies to the God. During Ashtami Puja, custom is to eat food made of maida and is essentially vegetarian, whereas Navami is generally non-vegetarian food.

Dashami signifies the end of Puja. Durga is bid farewell with singing of "Ma come next year". Before Bisarjan, we offer Sweet and pan to the Devi and put with Sindoor on the Devi . This is really fun for the married and all married women play with sindoor like holi (probably seen photo of woman with faces covered with Sindoor). After Bisarjon, all young people will touch elder's feet to take their blessing. Young people should visit the elders for their blessing after Bisarjan and this is Vijoya…sweets are offered to all and with hope for a bright future…
