This Uttarayan promises to bring a bit of Bollywood tadka to Amdavadis. A little bird told your diarist that the cast of Kai Po Che, the screen adaptation of Chetan Bhagat's book Three Mistakes of My Life, will be spotted flying kites with locals in pols.

Since the film is about to be released around that time, the movie makers plan to hold a contest. The winners will get to fly kites with the cast starring actors Sushant Singh Rajput (Pavitra Rishta) and Amit Sadh(Guns and Roses) along with Rajkumar of Ragini MMS fame and Amrita Puri who debuted in Aisha.

Director Abhishek Kapoor says, "Kai Po Che has been shot in Gujarat. So, we have planned an intensive promotion plan in Ahmedabad. It will be great to join Gujaratis and flying colourful kits during Makar Sankranti which is close to our film's release date." Kapoor visited Ahmedabad two years ago with Chetan Bhagat and was attracted by the architecture and history of pols so much that he shot the movie extensively in the city. "People in pols may be deprived of luxuries that urban areas offer but they are proud of their culture. I wanted to bring the essence of Gujarati culture and hence pols." Well, if you are in the pols this Uttarayan and spot the actors, remember you read it here first!

if i m the member of KPC team...rather than doing such things...i definetly give my advice to AK...that directly go to MR.Modi and tell him to promote KPC...right now we all know election are running in gujrat so its obvious MR.modi is busy in Promotion of election and he is going all big and small places of gujrat...AK just go and tell MR. modi to add few lines in his election speech like:

Gujratwasio aaj se 10 saal pehle sab bade bade actors gujrat mein aane se darte the bcoz of gujrat dange...aur aaj 10 saal baad sabhi bade bade director hamare pass aate hai shooting ki permission ke liye...humne 10 saal mein gujrat ko kaha se kaha pahuncha diya...abhi haal hi mein dircetor Abhishek Kapoor hamare pass aaye aur gujrat mein shooting ke permission ke liye... aur hame bataya ki film puri gujrat ke upar hi banayi gayi hai aur 3 dosto ki kahani hai...hamne usi waqt permission de di shooting ki... jab humne film ka naam suna to hame hamara bachpan yaad aa gaya film ka naam hai KAI PO CHE ( kaata hai in rajasthani 😆... jab hum chaddi pehan ke chaat pe Patanag udaya karte the...aur zor zor se chillate the KAI PO CHE so hum request karte hai gujrat ki jantase ki aap cinema gharo mein jaye aur KAI PO CHE ko safal banaye...taki future mein aur bhi director gujrat mein aake filme banaye jis se hamare gujrat ka naam aur bhi uncha ho...bas itna sa keh de hamare MODI ji Aur AK convince karle MR. Modi ko...ho gaya KAI PO CHE ka promotion...baki ka kam media kar dega...ki MR. modi promoted KAI PO CHE FILM IN HIS ELECTION PROMOTION...i know its not an easy task but we all know MR. Modi is king of gujrat aur agar raja kuch kahega to praja to order follow karegii hi na...So AK think big...Kuch bada karo rather than doing some silly things. 😆

Filming in Gujarat was a challenge: Abhishek Kapoor

Dec 6, 2012, 12.00AM IST TNN [Tanvi Trivedi]

Filmmaker Abhishek Kapoor recently wrapped up his last schedule of shooting 'Kai Po Che' in Diu. His team and the entire unit of 'Kai Po Che' will be back in January during Uttarayan, when the music of the film releases. Says Abhishek, "When a kite is cut by another kite or a kite just flies away and the thread from your manja breaks, it is impossible to get it back. Similarly friendships are also fragile and one should be careful in maintaining a bond with friends because once it breaks, it is difficult to get the same bonding back.

"Whilst shooting in Diu last month, the filmmaker was amazed with Diu's diverse landscape. He says, "Diu was perfect for my script and I am portraying Goa in the 1940s by shooting in Diu. The backyard, the boats, people —almost everything matched with what I wanted." The movie was als extensively shot in Ahmedabad's old city homes, havelis and pols. He says, "I also enjoyed shooting on Ellis bridge and capturing the revolving hotel in my film.

After shooting in Ahmedabad I realized, it is so important to bring in minute details of the way people live in the old city."The movie was also shot at a temple in Vadnagar and there were incidences of people collapsing on the sets due to extreme heat conditions. Abhishek recalls how almost everyday there were people collapsing on the sets and they had to keep a doctor on call. He says, "It was a challenging journey exploring Gujarat and discovering Ahmedabad. I feel that the Gujarati never-say-die spirit is admirable, they never give up in the face of adversity.

"Abhishek tells us that while he enjoyed shooting the old city, the Sabarmati Riverfront project and the entertainment activities happening on the riverfront were also a visual spectacle. Finally with the film ready to be released in February 2013, Abhishek on a parting note tells us that the finished product is exciting him and should be well accepted by the masses. He says, "I don't think about 100 crore or any such numbers. Even when Rock On! released people wondered whether it will work or not."
