loved the post, but most especially loved the last bit- really the Churan being hit by a tempo bit really could have gotten a razzie award, it was the most illogical tripe I had seen, and I still am unsure how Churan would have not heard the horn and the ensuing shouts of Churan...

Laurie, how sweet, when did you begin to call Shyamala "aunty"?

True, all that you said about Archana. Her insistence on leaving in time irked me somewhat, she could tell by her daughter's looks and behavior that the girl was beside herself with worry and instead of sparing a thought to the distraught Purvi, all she could think of was her own sorry plight at Savita's. She is no green young girl, newly married to be so afraid of how her in laws would react. For all her 45 to 50 yrs (can never decide how old she is), she persists in acting like a fresh bride, it grates on me. That fringe was the last straw, I watched the epi on my phone and the entire time had my finger on her forehead to mask that fringe as it was so infuriatingly distracting and unbecoming in a mother of 5 grown children.
I digress, when she looked back at Purvi seated on the couch and teared up, I felt she was for an instant cognizant of Purvi's pain but was shedding a tear at her own majbooran. She could have stepped back in at least for a moment and consoled her child without ever uttering a word but she did not. I did like her gentle touch on Purvi's face after the aarthi though. Well, serve her right, she goes home to her two ungrateful wretches who ignore her and even her normally thunderstruck at her looks husband stalks off (perhaps it was that fringe) without a second glance at her face.

Jahnvi,
Just saw it on TV and u are right :) the fringe was so annoying, just wanted to chop it off !!!
One reason that she wanted to go back could be that isnt there a condition in her divorce deal that she has to spend hr nights in the D house and cant stay anywhere else? I remember her vaguely saying that on another occasion, think during the beg divorce days.
I cant believe I just said something remotely on her behalf !!!! What's wrong with me :)

Anyway, it doesnt justify her not comforting Purvi. But, I think today was her first chance to see the depth of Purvi's feelings. She has always believed Arjun is the pursuer and had closed her mind to Purvi's feelings. It was a shocker for her. But still she couldnt get herself to comfort her daughter bec that would indicate her support to them. Her tears are for the fact that she has lost her daughter to Arjun, the daughter who always believed that her Aai is her world, is not doing so anymore.

Anyway, why bother understanding her, she will probably do something exactly opposite tomorrow if that pleases her "hero" Manav who is scared to even talk to her in for of his aai and the crazy chit. Such Pavitra Rishta is beyond my capacity to understand :)

I was just happy that she didnt open her mouth and her pink nails again and do an encore for Arjun or even Purvi !!!

Jyothi, I remember her saying that too when Teju was in the accident and wanted Archana to stay over for the night when Manav dropped them off. But a few minutes to comfort her daughter today would have been okay :( Yes, who cares what she was thinking, she will change her thinking by tomorrow probably and agree, the tears were probably cos she has lost her "yes" child. Don't mean to be unnecessarily harsh but even her attitude, her body language, posture (when she was doing the Krishna puja for instance) changes when she enters the karanjikar residence or rather exits the Deshmuck chawl.

Laurie my dear, You are spot on wrt both Archana and Purvi. I do not think anything will change in this respect as far as Purvi is concerned, for as I mentioned in this post, she is now truly and wholly in love, and nothing else will mean more to her, now or in the future. About Archana, I do not know, neither do I care.

I am glad you girls noticed the lunatic fringe (pun intended); no one could have missed it even on a phone! It is frightful, my heart went out to poor Ankita, subjected to this ridiculous add on that makes even such a very pretty girl look awful!!

Shyamala Aunty,

I agree with your synopsis about Archana's feelings and would like to add one small detail.

Archana has started meandering down 'Arjun Acceptance Avenue' but hasn't committed all the way yet and it still looks as though it will be sometime before she becomes as surefooted as a mountain goat down that path.

One thing that I took away from today's little scene between Archana and Purvi in the doorway was that Archana realizes then that Purvi's is not her little girl anymore - Purvi's grown up before her eyes.

Archana has finally begun to understand the depth of Purvi's love for Arjun. Purvi never asked for permission from her to go looking for him even though she is still on that 'understood embargo of not meeting him' - she just informed them and took off.

When she came back sans Arjun with worry etched all over her face, Archana told her she was leaving. Purvi - her daughter for the past eighteen years, her wajood, her swabhimaan, - just said ok and sailed past her to park herself on the couch to worry about Arjun.

Purvi definitely at plucked her mother's heart strings with her indifference today and, to me, that little act opened Archana's eyes. I thought Archana displayed the trepidation of a mother who has noticed that her progeny's wings are now unfurled and ready for flight.

I think she'll now see Purvi in a different light and can reconcile that Purvi is truly, madly, deeply in love with Arjun.

Although this is PR land and everything I said could all be topsy turvy tomorrow, I'll go with that for now. 😆

Purvi thus waits for him in vain, and it is revealing of her present state of mind vis-a-vis her aai that she makes no attempt to hide the mounting strain in her eyes. There are telling little touches at the midnight puja that highlight her acute anxiety. She stands next to Archana with the garlands of flowers for the baby Krishna's cradle, but her mind is far away and her eyes are on the clock, and she does not even hear her aai's voice or see the aarti thali that she is offering. As soon as the puja is over, unable to contact Arjun on his mobile, she rushes off to the garage and draws a blank there as well. By the time she gets back home, she is so frantic with worry that she barely reacts to Archana saying that she has to leave now (without meeting Arjun). The strong bond of empathy between Purvi and her aaji is highlighted when Sulochana, who has been trying to hold Archana back for a while longer, rushes to comfort the desolate Purvi, leaving Archana at the doorstep.

In an interesting departure from her harsh and hostile attitude to the Arjun-Purvi relationship till now, Archana makes no snide comments about Arjun's no show, otherwise mock him for not turning up and having apparently failed to meet her challenge. She probably realizes how tense and worried Purvi is about Arjun, and perhaps she is also somewhat concerned about the possiblilty of something having gone seriously wrong with him. In any case, Purvi is spared having to listen to any unpleasant comments from her aai.

Janhvi,

Agree completely with you about Archana; any mother would have gone back and told Purvi, don't worry, he will be ok. She could see that the girl was besides herself with fear and worry, and if she did not, she is no great mother, whatever her claims to that effect. And the fringe is truly lunatic. I wonder whose brainwave that was, poor Ankita.

@red
. Janhvi, that is so perfect that I would be ready give you a raincheck for forgiveness the next time you take a swipe at our boy, which I know will not be long in coming!😉

As for Laurie, she and I have adopted each other some time back. I only have the one son and no nieces either, so this is perfect for me. As for her, she has to speak for herself!

Thank you, my dear. Apart from your kind words, I am also pleased with this proof positive that you lasted up to the postscript!

It was really a nutty scene, so contrived and idiotic. It could easily have been shot sensibly: the kid runs across the street without looking and the brake on the vehicle fails at the wrong time. There, how neat is that?

Dear Shyamala Ji,
You should be given an award (I mean it) for trying to decipher all the episodes of Pavitra Rishta, and giving it so much intellectual weightage, that I am not sure if it really deserves. Some tracks on here, miss me completely (except for Arjun-Purvi). PR was much sober, intelligent and practical earlier when Sushant was around. I am here only because of ARVI truly. Their track has substance. ARman used to, but their continued separation keeps me detached.
Thank you so much for your posts. They are really analytical, reasoning and well thought out. Can't say the same about most of the episodes of PR that air. 🤔

Dear Shyamala,
Enjoyed reading your post. They are as usual, thorough and detailed with a dash of required sarcasm 😉 😃

Probably she saved all her energies to get ready after that😆 complete with neatly combed bangs on the forehead, false nails, false eyelashes etc etc and etc. 😆😛
Jokes apart, I too was glad that she chose to be silent. Not sure if we will surely know what was going on in her mind in a few episodes from now, if she really empathized with Purvi or will never not know that at all?

Manav's dialogue to Arjun about his boodhi haddiyan yday was...Ufff too much !👎🏼

When Arjun gave her that assurance and comfort, I couldn't help but think about what I missed just a scene prior with Purvi not getting that assurance from her Aai. Was atleast glad that she gave her the pooja aarti, but I wanted her to give atleast a bit of comfort to this daughter of her's who shared so much of her life and was in despair at that moment because Arjun hadn't turned up as promised. This daughter was crying and I sooo wanted Archana to atleast be with her. Instead she distances herself. Really feel bad for Purvi that this mother of hers is so much worried about her own Ovi and Teju that she is unable to give any time or love for Purvi. Hope that importance for Purvi comes back very fast when she goes missing tomorrow. But was so glad to see Purvi get that love from her beloved where she feels safe and thoroughly loved.🤗

Anyway, I am enjoying all the ArVi crumb scenes thrown at us. Was it yday when he says 'I Love You Purvi' (Pav Bhaaji episode)? He was saying it after a long time and felt like honey dripping in my ears 😃 Today, a big tight bear-y hug.🤗 Love those hugs and love to watch their unadulterated love. Aaah the Simple pleasures.😃 Such a bliss.😍 Want to relish them as long as it lasts.😃

Did you guys notice Archana was not actually in the D house when she came all made-up for the festival and took the aashirwad from Damodar? She was standing somewhere with a brown-door in the background and the rest of the family were all together in the house. Watch even the scene where she is taking the blessings, it is edited in such a way to make it appear as if she was with all of them.
