I guess that is because Archana did not want Purvi to be happy at Ovi's expense. Indeed Purvi understood her more than her own blood daugters that she had given birth to. Purvi is much closer to Archana than these two daughters and loves her more and has been through with Archana for the past 18 years. She was the one who saw Archana in her happiness and sadness and wants nothing for Archana but her happiness and to get her family back. But to Archana these two daughters who had not been with her for the past 18 years are indeed more important to her than Purvi. And she cannot let Purvi be happy with Arjun whilst Ovi was crying and becoming crazy with her delusion that Arjun loves her still. With this kind of attitude it is Purvi who is hurting the most not Archana. As long as it not her blood daughters or more importantly to her her mother in law and son Sachin who are hurting, she is going to sacrifice everybody else.

I agree with you what Arjun was saying was truly right!! Archana can stop or forbid Purvi from having any relationship whatsoever with Arjun, but feelings is something that nobody can control not even oneself. One's love and hatred are beyond the control of anybody else including the person itself. She cannot control Purvi emotions and stop the love that she has for Arjun. And all these bickerings between Archana and Sulochana, all these scolding that forbidding Purvi from meeting Arjun and having any relationships with Arjun was only hurting nobody but Purvi.

Archana is whether knowingly or unknowingly, conciously or unconciously, deliberately or not deliberately hurting Purvi for being the person that Arjun fell in love with and be the person who made Ovi suffered somehow. She cannot see Ovi suffered as such and that's the reason why she is letting Purvi suffered as well with her behaviors and attitude.
