Janhvi,
Even I, at my mature age and with Sasha having long since flown the nest (if not the coop!), went to the biggest bookstores in Ottawa at midnight on D-Dayin July 2005, when Book 6, The Half Blood Prince, was released. I was then the Indian High Commissioner there, and I was sorry no one spotted me. I would have liked a cheeky Page 3 shot proclaiming me a Harry Potter fan!
I remember taking photos of several of the kids there and e-mailing the snaps to them the day after. It was all great fun.
Yes, Laurie is getting to be majorly addictive, all the more so as the actual PR is getting to be such a drag. I was even more put out than I had expected to be when Purvi "statued" Arjun yesterday, not so that Archana would not have to face even worse trouble in the Deshmukh chawl, but because Ovi Ma'am would be even more emotionally affected! And then she pushes him into going and meeting Ovi. For crying out loud!!
I begin to think that the girl deserves what is coming to her tomorrow. Even the way she handles Purvi is so weak and ineffective. She blurts out, totally unnecessarily, wrt the MMS scandal, that there was nothing between her and Arjun sir " then", on which Punni is quick to pounce.
One may have a very weak hand at poker, but the whole idea is not to show it. How on earth can she handle tough negotiations in business if she shows her hand so easily to such a vicious opponent (whom she was praising to the skies to Arjun when Punni had joined the office).
I do not know WHAT she wants now; Trish says she acted that way yesterday out of anger against Arjun. If so, she needs (doubly) to get her head examined. Time and tide wait for no (wo)man, and if she does not look sharp, their love story will be history.
The one good thing about the Arjun-Purvi segment yesterday was the look on Arjun's face as he says with barely concealed bitterness "Now it is Ovi who needs me more, is it?", or words to that effect. It was very well done.
What I liked best, however, was the precap at the end, when Archana launches herself like a rocket on an unsuspecting, bewildered Manav, who, initially, obviously does not know what to make of this unexpected visitation. However, he rallies quickly, and hugs her back. It was priceless.
I also liked the two of them bickering over the water buckets. This what Mira Nair called "old shoe love", referring to the Naseeruddin Shah-Lilette Dubey couple in Monsoon Wedding.
The problem for Arjun and Purvi is that the happy, unshadowed part of their relationship did not last even 2 days, and they thus do not have such memories of warm togetherness to fall back upon when the going gets rough.
Shyamala
PS: I missed that poll of yours, but I voted for a new hairstyle for Purvi. And if the Balaji lot will do nothing about it, we should all put together a collect and have them get at least 6 new salwar suits for Purvi. She needs that desperately!
Shyamala!!! Greetings my dear friend!! 😊 Love this analysis of yesterday's episode and it is right on the mark. This simpering need on the part of our 2 lovers to pamper that spoiled brat is quite frankly ridiculous.Another thing that put me out greatly is the fact that Purvi is just so cold and frigid. The CVs have succeded in butchering the emotions the 2 have for each other. Except for the scene where Purvi cries and kisses Arjun's photo, if it were not for her confession, I would swear she is not even in love with the boy.On a lighter note, I'm thrilled that 2 good friends of mine here (you and Jhanvi) turned out to be fellow Harry Potter fanatics as well!!! Join the club- I, of course, have got all the books as well as all the movies- and have watched them hundreds of times. Well, in addition to tea at the Savoy, all of us should attend an all-day screening of all 8 movies while sipping on some good Butterbeer.Where is Harry when we need him? I wish he could wave that wand of his and reunite Arjun and Purvi and give us some beautiful love scenes with only the 2 of them besides. While he is at it, he could also make Purvi more soft and loving towards him, give Arjun his backbone back, sort the brat Ovi out by messing up her looks, as well as Punni by turning her into some creature of some kind, do the "avadacadabra" on Savita so we are spared her constant harranguing, and get our "Malfoy" (aka Sachin) in line like he did in the good old days. 😉
