Varsha, never meant to imply you didn't know what fevicol was 😆
I was agreeing with you on the extent of addiction some of us (excluding you in this general categorization, of course) have. 😉

Dear Varsha, it was not meant to be sarcastic or mocking. As you said these are fictional characters and while it is fun to discuss the different characters, nothing personal was ever intended and I do apologize if it came across that way.

Shyamala, you rightly attributed that quote. It is from Shakespeare's "The Passionate Pilgrim" (1598)

WHEN my love swears that she is made of truth,
I do believe her, though I know she lies,
That she might think me some untutor'd youth,
Unskilful in the world's false forgeries.
Thus vainly thinking that she thinks me young,
Although I know my years be past the best,
I smiling credit her false-speaking tongue,
Outfacing faults in love with love's ill rest.

Dear Jhanvi,

Thanks a million for locating that for me, and also for giving me the whole of it. My memory seems to have been a little faulty when it came to the first 2 lines that I had quoted, but the sense is the same. What an ode to the bitter helplessness of an obsessive love for an undeserving object!

I am afraid the exchanges in the forum are getting to be rather harsh and personal. It is a pity. I once go clobbered for suggesting that someone had not thought something thru, and I was sorry I had touched some raw nerve and I too apologised, and that set it at rest.

While we wait for Arjun-Purvi track, that seems to have been temporarily derailed, to get back on the rails, I am only hoping that Purvi does not top up her 'sacriifce' with a dollop of masochism. As I said earlier, I cannot get the SBS segments, but the idea of her, the MD of the firm, hanging about in a restaurant at lunch time (no, it is not a candlelight dinner, according to the post) to show Arjun a file and get chewed out by Ovi is frightful. It ruins the image one has of Purvi as proud and competent professional, and when all else seems to have failed her, surely that is all that is left and that is what she should cling to? What is she being reduced to?

Moreover, why should Ovi , who knows who Purvi is and who behaves quite normally with her at the engagement party, suddenly become so rude and unpleasant? It can be only because, in the interim, she must have learnt that Arjun is in love with Purvi (from whom? DK? I think not. Manav? Punni? But how could Punni, a low level office employee, have got that close to Ovi? ). This would also explain why she is so aggressively demonstrative vis-a-vis Arjun, to show Purvi that he is forbidden territory and that she should keep off.

We are of course in the dark as to why Arjun goes along with this charade, unless Purvi has got him into it by threatening some drastic action to hurt herself if he does not. Melodramatic in the extreme, whereas most of the Arjun-Purvi track has been quite sensible and plausible so far, but perhaps even the brilliant team that has been doing this track is now at a dead end and is being forced back on the good old staples.

If so, they might as well bung in the car accident as well, for Arjun, that is, and stick him in an ICU with a lot of bandages but no permanent injury. Both Ovi and Purvi will rush to his bedside, and if Purvi wins this race, we would be home and dry. (Of course hospital don't allow visitors in ICUs, but the CVs cannot be expected to bother about that!)

But Balaji won't. and there is the rub. They have been milking this project for nearly 3 years now, and have, over the last 5 months, resurrected it from what seemed to be a permanent coma. They must now be looking forward to at least another year during which they can coast along adding complications, misunderstandings and heartbreaks as they go along . Anything goes as long as they are not forced by the TRPs to wind up the show and get to work laboriously on an entirely new concept. Under these circumstances, on can hardly expect them to bother about the viewer preferences, especially when the TRP base is so abysmally narrow.

So, apart from invoking divine assistance, the best we can do is to look out for the Arjun-Purvi scenes, which are very good even when they are conducted at a very high decibel level, and infinitely charming when they are normal. I loved the way she twinkled up at him and said that for him to be afraid of at least some members of her family would be helpful to her in the future, and he smiled back, switching from mock exasperation to affectionate indulgence.

It is a thousand pities we could not have a few days more of these interludes before we landed up in this briar patch of an engagement. In fact the Arjun-Purvi-Ovi mess resembles nothing so much as a Tar Baby; every move you make to shake it off, the more it sticks to you!

I guess it is best to chalk it down as a learning experience.

hi Vgiri,
I have lived in Canada 2/3rd of my life. In India, slapping a guy is a very common thing. Actually, slapping is a very common thing. they don't understand "physical assault". this whole slapping business became popular from the indian movies...
