In this instance if it offends the sensibilities a bit and sounds inappropriate I guess is because of the intention behind the dressing and the backdrop for it.

archana has been seperated from her husband and her children for the last 18 years. this was not an amicable seperation. It is not even a situation where they were seperated due to a natural calamity or something (where there are no misgivings on either side) and she is being reunited with her husband after many years.

her children believe she abandoned them and harbour ill will towards her. She heard this information first hand

her husband cannot get past the last set of mistakes that caused the seperation and the fact that she did not attempt to reduce that distance over the last 18 years.

She is walking into a situation where there are a lot of misgivings on her husband and childrens side and in this environment as a mature 50 year old her first instinct was not to discuss and make peace with the past but to dress up with romantic aaspirations. Even without the added complication of beign served divorce papers it seems inappropriate and insensitive when viewed by many people especially people whoa re mothers and prioritize their children over their own chemistry with their husband (active or dormant).

It is like saying you dressed up pretty to see your kids at their dad's funeral, I guess

It is not the fact that you dressed up (that is everyone's right) it the question of how sensitive and appropriate the behaviour is for a 50 year old woman who is in a very aggrieved and conflicted family situation right now.

So many years have passed, Manav is raising his daughters and Sachu so nicely, like a mother and father, Archana never called ONCE to ask about the kids in these 18 years, and now she says firmly as if she is some official, demanding, I want my three kids. Archana doesn't even care about the kids, she just wanted to snatch something from Manav. First she separated Soham from Manav and now she wants to separate all three children from him, how selfish is she.
