I wish we have shows like Everybody loves Raymond in India. That was a so much more endearing dysfunctional family.

There again they functioned well as a family until raymond got married

ray did not balance his relationshp with his mom and wife well. sometimes he prioritzed his mom and sometimes his wife. hota hai.

does not make either party totaly right or wrong. A mother's role is in transition after marriage just as much as the son or the newDIL.

when a mother is as involved in a son's life as Marie Baron or Savita were, the shift of control by the son to the wife causes a lot of insecurity. no matter how hard the DIL tries she is never the solution. only the son can be the solution as he is the cause of the uncertainity. In moments of uncertainty we always desire the old status quo. Happened with Ray and is now happening with Manav.

Agree with your post. It is the son/husband's responsibility to balance both relations, especially the balance between mother and wife. There I used to feel sympathy for the DIL coz the MIL was overbearing and interfering all the time. She also had her elder son, Robert with her. Oh! IHow I loved Robert😳 😆 The fact that Savita has no support what so ever makes me sympathize with Savita than Archana in this scenario. If Damo would have been a good husband, things would have been different. But he's useless, and does more harm than good. In such a case, the son's responsibility increases.

Damo is a dharti pe bhoj. This woman however crass, however loud and meddlesome raised his kids, stood by his side, took his crap, prayed for him when she thought he was dead in the train incident, took care of him when he was dishing out blood like it was sherbet - seriously he is a dharti pe bhoj and his archu archu chants are like noise pollution these days.

Savita is a horrible MIL there is no challenging that but as a mother one can relate to most of her insecurities and as someone from a middle-class background I can undestand her desire for financial blessings. I am not justifying her actions past or present but I think treating as a manipulative demon in every scenario is not appropriate.

BTW, I loved Robert, was absolutely frustrated by Marie, hated wimpy raymond and confessed to my hubby that if he was anything like him I would hae divorced his butt a long time back. I could tolerate Deborah but Robert was my favourite. Amy was 😲😆

nice post Varsha.
Aap chinta mat kijiye..Main sab sambhaal loongi
Main aai ko theek karke rahoongi..
Maine Manav ko promise kiya hai ke main unki asli aai ko lautake rahoongi jo main pura nahi kar sakoongi Mother Teresa has spoken 😆

this pledge is similar to what Manv took. he wanted to be sahara of varsha and vaishali. toh Archu ka farz toh banata hai.

Such a dedication...As soon as she finds out FBD called and Vaishu wants to go to police station her worry abt MIL is secondary..She jumped to get involved with yet again...I think Vaishu & Madhuri can handle this situation themselves in police station..They really dont need Mata Hari Archu do they 😳

Archu loves to be in epicenter of each and every problem.😉
Tough Archu: What was the scene in the bedroom required for? 😳😲 Does she not get it that Uksaana Savita is not the cure 😡 Give up the darn treatment woman...U r not MBA..Get some professional help involved...

Woman wants to be left alone as she is trying to survive..Has given up all her hopes for life...😭
Today Savita literally made me cry when she folded her hands to Archu to let her be..
when she said "Jiske saath kuchh sambandh nahi uske saath dushmani kaisi? Mere kya singh nikal aaye hai ki main raah par chalti aurat ko dhakka maroon" 😭
Woman's ultimate defeat...she has lost all interest in life and a family...She believes she is by herself and no one else...
I love you Savita-Ushaji...The best actress on TV of today 👏

Savita's action was superb, she is good at emotional scenes too.

This statement is the biggest farce of the show.
1) archana CANNOT mend everything. she need not and should not POKE her nose in every situation and say " mein sab theek karungi"

2) in this situation, archana has the false and not so true idea that somehow savita's condition is related to her. that is simply ridiculous.

I want to add that, savita's depression ( and resulting memory loss) is due to Manav ignoring her needs as an old woman and a mother who has already LOST her son.
i am NOT justifying her hatred for archana. that is wrong, BUT what manav did before wasnt correct either.
he constantly put archana and HER family ahead of savita and her needs. he gave the message that " if you dont accept archana, you loose me as a son" and " be like the KARANJKARS".
where manav was right in standing up for his wife, he was WRONG in ignoring her.

Hence, savita's depression comes from manav ignoring her. even now, we see archana make her half-baked, annoying efforts but NEVER manav.
i dont see manav feeding savita, even now, he puts archana ahead of his SICK MOM. not fair to this old woman who LOST her SON, indirectly due to the karanjkars.

i want to add to dabulls point that, depsite hating archana, savita kept her relations in visiting sulo when she was sick, advising varsha, keeping vaishu's secret, decent to archu infront of people, visiting her SON (despite hating archana).
what does savita get in return? a son who shoves his duties on his wife ( a gesture NOT DONE for vaishu) and a bahu who keeps chanting her own version of "all izz well"...

i really wish (not for the first time) tht there was a ditto button..i agree 100 percent wid ur post tiya..manav STILL makes not much of an active effort to try heal his mother, except moan over how his mother dsnt love him anymore..and the first step shud be taking her to a qualified psychiatrist..not leave her to archu's "main sab theek kar doongi"..high time the duo realise tht "woh KUCH bhi theek nahi kar sakte"..in fact wid their sucky desicion making capability, they ruin whatever CAN be fixed..am not going to start citing examples coz tht wud make a marathon post..and a word of advice to the CVs,wen eventually they DO get a psychiatrist into the mix, please give the character better dialogues thn the last excuse for a doctor tht they showed..i dnt even want to get into how stupid he sounded.. @bold: i wish people who hate the character of savita do remember all these instances..

Even a neutral person who never knew Archana would get irritated with Damodar's constant Archana jaap. It's highly irritating. He's a horrible husband and useless father. Savita atleast does something when her family's in trouble. She's a much better parent than Damodar. This track of Savita's illness would have been the perfect time to redeem him, but the stupid CVs still want to show mahaan Archana doing everything without knowing how or why.

Robert was adorable. And Amy was perfect for him, two adorable weirdos. He was always so jealous because of Raymond getting all the attention and affection; he totally deserved a family of his own to love.

@hope, sowmya and anu.. you guys make really good points...
and i agree with Hope, in that ,its unfair to paint savita as a manipulative light ALL the time, when, archu is NO SAINT.

wasnt it due to archu's family, sachin is dead?

isnt it due to archu, dharmesh is runnning scott-free??

isnt it due to archu, madhuri is divorcing dharmesh,at a time, when she needs HIS support as a FATHER?

anyone remember archu's role post varsha's aborttion?
anyone care to remember, she wants vaishu to go back to dharmesh to play house?

the list goes on, but my point is, though savita is not an angel, its not fair to say,she is manipulating everyone around her, ONLY cares for fiancial gains, and hates archu because she lost sharvani as a wealthy bahu.
