We need to make 8 journal entries. Standard costs and actual costs were given to us. We calculated the variances.
I m confused about 2 things. It says in the book that materials price variance is recognized when purchases r made so shud I include the variance in 1st entry or include in 8th where we hav to record all cost variances for the month? next, it says that direct material nd direct labour enter WIP at standard, so, again, shud i include the variance in the entry where I m transferring or in the 8th entry?
Direct labour nd direct material r recorded at standard cost. Is that ok?

What I remember is that cost variances are recognised when purchases are made ....

so I would include it in the first entry ..Sid , I hope I am telling yo uthe right thing . This looks so difficult after such a long time . Do recheck it ,. Bu tI used to calculate the price variance when purchases were made .

Thats what the book says too Tanya but part 8 requires us to record all cost variances for the month so what shud i do in that?😕

We hav a template of t-accounts. The cost of goods sold (CGS) t-account says "(including all variances)" So shud I include the variances in the 1st entry then transfer the costs from variance account to CGS bcoz the book says standard cost variance accounts are closed out to CGS at the end of the period.

I would enter the same variance in your entry no. 8 as what have been included for entry no. 1 ...
It should not be different .
have you not got solution to these questions ..I don't understand this method of studies . When we were studying for the british system we were always give n the past papers of last 5 years along with their answers ...
This is crazy , how can you do these questions without having to refer at the solutions ...
Ask your professor ...
Look, enter the same amount that you have netered at no 1 ..the same figure should be entered at no. 8 .
And in future ask your professor for the solution papers for the past exam questions ...
