Today's episode was filled with many moments, moments that I, in all my teenage glory, will term WTF and ROFL moments.
WTF:
1. Manav asking/telling Shravani about going to Varsha's wedding.
- Yesterday, I was very convinced that he would not ask permission, as he seemed pretty firm about his decision to go from what I heard about the promo. Apparently, the happenings in the promo were from after he asked the permission. I just find it odd how he goes and stands there essentially reciting lines that he seems to have memorized (or maybe Archana taught him). He stood there with a stony and kind of bored expression, spewing off the lines like they were just precursory. He also never seems to ask Archana's permission for anything...
2. The scene between Archana and Shravani in the bedroom.
- Archana's excessive sweetness (which you described well, Kool) with Shravani's filmi dialogues created one very unconvincing scene for me. It had no realisitic purpose, it seemed to be there as a creative liberty to show that either Archana or Shravani will fail this "love test".
3. The fact that Archana and Manav went to Shravani's room together.
- It looked like they planned it out or Archana dragged him there to recite his lines to Shravani. If I were Shravani (in this situation) I would have been pretty flipping ticked if Manav showed up with Archana, looks at her for reassurance before speaking, and then stands there reciting those lines with Archana watching over them from the doorway.
4. The way the Deshmukh guys just brushed off Savita's concern for Vandita.
- Vandita is living in an unstable state with a really evil lady and her brothel-frequenting, rape-attempting son. How they so easily brushed off the thoughts of her both angered and baffled me. Aren't they concerned at all? One thing I noted though was that the lines Savita was saying really resembled what Sulochana used to say when worried about Archana.
5. Archana refusing to go to Varsha's wedding.
- Others have covered this pretty well before me, but it is still ridiculous, I won't go into much detail here.
6. This new "twist" of Archana taking care of Shravani while Manav is with the Karanjkars.
- Kyaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa? Many of us were looking forward to this track simply to see what happens with Archana and Manav while with the Karanjkars. A nice, not-so-tension-filled week was on the horizon, but no, of course not, we were wrong. Seemingly here the point is that both Savita and Sulochana are going to completely melt, the latter more easily and apparently than the former. And here we were dreaming of the nice clothes that ArMan were going to wear at the wedding.
ROFL:
1. The whole beginning sequence.
- Everything just looked so unnatural. Manohar's huge smile cracked me up, but not more than Archana doling out the sugar to her parents. That moment was truly the shakkar philosophy in action.
2. Manav and Shravani's reactions to Archana refusing to go to Varsha's wedding.
- Manav looked dumbfounded and struck by disbelief, almost as if Archana killed all the happy dreams he was having about what they would do for five days together without Savita and Shravani around. Shravani was rolling her eyes and looked fed up with mahaan Archana who does no wrong.
3. One of the lines that Manav said on the roof.
- When he was asking Archana why she said no when they got permission (!) from Savita to go, I couldn't stop laughing. There was something about the way he did it that had me really laughing.
Notable:
1. Savita's lessening resolve.
- Today, almost anything she said to Archana was without the conviction that she used to have. Even when she was saying that this is why she hates her, she didn't look or sound like she really meant it.
2. The small scene between Varsha and Manjusha.
- When Varsha, without much sarcasm, but rather with a seemingly genuine smile, told Manjusha about how great a mother-in-law she has, it looked like Manjusha actually understood the veracity of it and even gave a smile in acknowledgement.
Appearance notes:
1. Recently, they changed the amulet again, this time back to the thin necklace that was worn when Archana and Manav were together in September.
2. They've started to increase the amount of make-up on Ankita, the eye make-up is especially more evident these days.
3. Yamini (Vandita) looks really pretty in the richly saturated-color sarees.
There were some more, but I have forgotten and am also out of time.
I don't really know why I just made this long of a post...
