It was during the rewatch that it finally clicked into my brain as to who the show was all about: Minnie. Babita wasn't even the first thing to be mentioned which indicated the value she held in Minnie's life. I'm not negating Minnie's love for Babita, but Minnie's dreams and aspirations were always held above Babita. It was only when Ashok's truth came out that everything shifted. Yes Babita became Minnie's top priority, but underlying all of it was a sense of burden. Babita wasn't a grown woman, but rather a child that had to be taught every little thing.
If the CVs wanted to portray Minnie as the main protagonist then fine. The audience would have accepted it if they had done a decent job of portraying that. They shouldn't have given HS' backstory any importance, or shown Hanita's relationship develop in such a beautiful manner. They shouldn't have shown Babita going to HS for advice late at night, them pining for each other, or making pots underneath the moonlight. They should have just focused on Minnie and the issues she goes through because of the divorce, her changed perspective on love, men etc.
The massive disappointment the S1 viewers and some of the cast members felt, as well as the sudden shift in story tracks are all on the CVs. They are solely the ones to blame.
One thing I don't understand is what is KK's obsession about revisiting old story lines. They did this in S1 where they revisited every single track pre-Hanita marriage and redid them to glorify Minnie post marriage. Now, even post leap they seem to be revisiting the older tracks and are doing a poor job of it. If they want to highlight something new and different such as a divorce but from a male perspective, then great! But make sure you actually have the guts to go ahead with it. Otherwise it just comes off as being incredibly lazy and the story, messy.
