Part 9

radha woke up an hour later to a dimly lit room. the rain had returned once more & was pelting relentlessly on the window pane as if asking to be let in. she felt very weak but well rested. climbing slowly out of bed she tried to get up but stumbled slightly. to her surprise, she felt a pair of arms encircling & steadying her.

radha looked up to find pranay looking down in concern at her. "are you alright my soon to be wifey?" his voice was both concerned & teasing. radha immediately pushed him away & mumbled back a hasty 'yes'. she got back a smirk in return & surprisingly found herself blushing.

"oh my.. i should have been awake long ago. you said those people from the bridal shop would be coming right? are they still here?" radha asked a smiling pranay. "yes. they are waiting downstairs. I told them not to disturb you while you were sleeping." he remarked simply & strode off downstairs. taking a moment to collect herself, radha follwed pranay down to where the bridal shop staff were seated.

"hi ma'am! I hope you're feeling alright now. shall we start the lengha selection then?" a heavyset woman in her 5o's with jewelled spectacles chirped in a surprisingly youngish voice. radha nodded & sat there numbly as the woman showed her various lenghas all of which were gorgeous. but radha didn't pay attention to her at all. she was lost in her own thoughts.

radha's mind drifted to the times when marriage plans between her & mohit were underway. she didn't even feel half as happy as she did then. "miss radha? hello ma'am? can we get on with the lengha selection?" the woman sounded slightly annoyed.

"my wife to be is absorbed in our marriage thoughts that she can't concentrate. I'm apologise for her." pranay replied from the seat opposite radha's. he had been watching her all the time & knew that she was interested in the whole lengha choosing process as a cat would be interested in a dog.

radha smiled slightly at his reply & finally seemed to focus on the lengha choosing. she picked up a bright yellow lengha but tossed it aside after a minute's though. she had seen more than 20 lenghas but still couldn't find one that suited her tastes. the lady from the bridal shop was getting cranky as she saw radha's dissatisfaction at her prized lenghas.

"I don't like any of these lenghas.. they don't seem to suit me at all.." radha sighed 45 minutes later. pranay rolled his eyes. women he thought. "these are our best & prized lenghas! how can you not like any one of them?" the lady lost her cool. radha opened her mouth to retort but pranay stopped her.

"mrs nair.. could you bring me the lengha I saw in your backseat?" he requested politely. mrs nair gasped in shock. "but sir.. I designed it especially for my daughter's wedding.." she protested but pranay silenced her with such an obnoxiously high price that she had to relent.

"why offer her such a high price for a lengha? and I'm only going to wear it once!" radha hissed at pranay after mrs nair left to get the lengha. "wait till you see the lengha. it's going to look great on you & I don't mind spending any amount of money if I can see you smile." pranay went on oblivious that he had blabbered something that was quite unlike of him to say when he was sane.

taken aback, radha observed pranay for a moment before asking him to repeat what he had said but pranay refused blushing furiously. he hadn't meant what he said. actually he did mean what he said but hadn't meant for radha to overhear him. mrs nair appeared then saving pranay from radha's curious stares. she looked as if she found him to be insane.

"here you go ma'am." mrs nair laid out the lengha onto radha's lap & she gaped at it in shock. it was THE most beautiful lengha she had ever laid eyes on. the lengha was made of the softest lavender chiffon & had small little flowers in the shapes of diamonds on it. the material was so soft that it slipped off radhas hands easily.

"wow! it's beautiful!" radha exclaimed before she could stop herself. pranay immediately gave a approving smirk as he watched radha's reaction. this girl was doing strange things to him. he felt as if he could throw away all the money in the world if he could just see her smile that dazzling smile of hers.

finally happy to get her dream lengha, radha bid a exhausted mrs nair adieu & returned to the living room where pranay sat the exact same position observing her. his intense gaze have radha goose bumps & she hastily looked away not meeting his eyes.

"so you like it?" pranay's voice told radha that he knew her reply even before she could reply. "I love it." came her answer & pranay smiled to himself. "love what? me or the lengha?" he found himself asking her & radha rolled her eyes but smiled slightly.

"what is this you fool? why are you flirting with radha?" pranay wanted to knock his head against the wall. "I've got to go now.. thank you for getting me that beautiful lengha. I'll leave it here because if meghna sees this, she'll make a big fuss." radha sighed & prepared to leave.

"driver.. take radha back home & yes.. drive slowly!" radha heard pranay giving instructions to his driver & grinned. "bye pranay." she bid him a curt goodbye & left in his car while he stood watching her till the car disappeared into the distance. "good bye radha.." he answered wistfully as various feelings tumbled through his heart rendering him helpless.

pranay was feeling things for radha despite himself. and he didn't like that one bit. "you will listen to me.." he held a hand over his heart as he walked back to living room. spotting the lengha lying on the coffee table the order he gave his heart immediately went out the window. utterly frustrated with himself, pranay poured himself a drink & stopped thinking about radha. till the drink was over anyway.

Poor Pranay is halling hopelessley, wether he wants to admit it or not. He's so sweet.

As for poor Radha, I don't blame her for blushing. With a guy so sweet, I'd be red as a tomato too😳😳
