I have driven from Edison on one of my Niagara trips in 7 hrs.. U being north of there, may take even less. I81 is a very scenic route so is I90 all the way..

If ur parents like Indian food much , there are not many options on CAD side [ should say whatever they are not really good].. On U.S side, there are couple of punjabi dhaba's 😃..
Also being weekend , rooms may not be available last minute closer..
