No wonder Yashica tweeted that had Sameer been running the TV world, it wouldn't have been such a waste land.
Damn straight.
The thing that I love about Sameer is that he considers his audience intelligent. So true that makers of hindi TV shows normally tend to take the audiences for granted, so clearly visible.
I wouldn't want to be involved with something that insults the intelligence of the viewers. Some television shows do that and they should be thankful that the audience still continues to watch them, not because they agree with all that they're seeing but because television is such an addictive medium.
This was the best statement. He said a similar thing even in the AajTak agenda conference.
It is such a cheap behaviour on the part of the channel that they are waiting for these protests to die out. No wonder they are dipping off late.
I guess its time these channel start respecting the audiences and stops taking them for granted. Shows these days are seriously garbage.
Take the example of MasterChef, it is supposed to be a serious culinary show, but since it is competing with the likes of Balika Vadhu, they have added the unnecessary drama quotient which takes away the essence of the show, but the makers claim that Indian audience love watching "intense drama", which is sick.
Things need to change. I am hoping that Abhinay Deo's 24 lives up to the original ( though in my opinion Anil Kapoor might not come close to Keifer Sutherland, the original actor in 24).
There was a series on MTV by Dibakar Banerjee named RUSH, 12 stories directed by many National award winning directors, was fabulous. May be these directors can step up, garner the guts to make such shows on the normal Hindi GEC's. They might not be an instant hit, but then somebody has to start the change isn't it?
There is an urgent need for shows that are liked not just by house wives but also by men and youngsters. A show that would urge men to tune in to it eagerly and not run away inside the rooms to stay away from the crap airing these days.
Parichay had a chance of becoming one, a male centric show, unlike the usual one with jewellery clad heroines or heroes flaunting their muscles, a character that many men could relate to etc etc... But thanks to some brains and the channel that keeps pressurizing the makers to get things in the shows that would give them NUMBERS, it deviated from its concept.
I sincerely hope that some one stands up to bring in the change. An I hope that in some way or the other, Sameer is involved😉
