The main reason Ekta Kapoor and her team has "run out of ideas" is because now they cannot afford to mess with the one and only thing that this show runs on and that is, the lead pair, Kunal and Siddhi, being together. They simply cannot separate these two again and thus they have essentially "run out of ideas". They spent the first 10 months of the show in getting Kunal and Siddhi together and after the senseless, pointless and brainless 9 year leap, they spent the next 7 months in hassling the audience by bringing them closer and pulling them apart and pretty much doing a repeat telecast of all the scenes and tracks we witnessed prior to the leap. This show is literally surviving on Kunal and Siddhi's story for the year and a half it has been running and if they dared to test the audiences patience again and went for another separation, they would have been in hot soup. And if you look at any Ekta Kapoor show which runs for more than 2 years, there is unbelievable amount of crap added into it, with the lead pair being separated for decades and then we have the next generation of lovers come in and finally the original pair reunites at the age of 50+ with a dozen kids from here and there and everywhere. Look at the current Balaji show on Zee, it has been going on for more than 3 years and the story is currently so repulsive and disgusting that it would make you throw up. In some ways I am glad that Parichay is ending because with the kind of mentality Ekta Kapoor has, I am surprised that there was only one severely disturbing track that occurred in so many months of the show. In some ways, Parichay truly surprised me with the handling of certain tracks because it was totally different from the standard Ekta garbage. However, more than a season 2, I would like Samir and Keerti to come together in a new show by another production house because one simply cannot trust Ekta Kapoor to make a show without adding a load of sickening twists and turns. Samir and Keerti can do much better and they even deserve better. Parichay has given them a lot but I definitely don't think Ekta Kapoor can give us a good season 2 without adding the standard mirch masala of separations, leaps, sacrifices, re-occurring marriages and uncountable number of children. At the end of it all, I say, good riddance from Kekta world, I hope Samir and Keerti prosper and do well in whatever lies ahead for them :)

@bold: You've raised very true points but then Ekta can't be blamed alone..
Most of the crap shown in Ekta's shows is liked by majority of Indian audiences & as a result, she has made such "twists & turns" as a standard..
Almost all the shows that are aired for 5-6 days a week are extensively gross but are running successfully as people simply love to feed their brains with such a sh*t.. 🤢

Parichay has been an exception (keeping aside few tracks that led to its doom), so in my opinion its good for it to end, remaining exemplary for shows in Indian arena!!

However, I do hope that the ongoing process of requesting for a season 2 bears some fruitful results!

Shabz, agree with you 100%
Sad to say but I see such twist & turns being enjoyed right in my home, resulting in numerous fights😆 But then not just Ekta, majority of Indian shows that go on for years have same garbage.
Parichay from day 1 was different and all they had to do was keep it up. day they tried to make it into typical daily soap, as you said it was doomed. 👎🏼

Well I do hope our efforts do pay off and get to see Season 2🤔

Well, the quality of Indian television shows is definitely very appalling considering the times we live in. In an era where women are educated, independent, smart and strong, we have female protagonists as saree clad sacrificial lambs whose only job is to mope and weep to eternity. Horrifying to think that this is what the audience prefers to watch but then again, Ekta maiyya herself has conditioned the audience to this level of unrealistic over dramatization. There is an interesting thread on the Bollywood forum about the condition of Indian soap operas and everyone is of the opinion that Indian tv had some brilliant shows in the 90s and then, unfortunately, Ekta Kapoor descended on Star Plus and started the cycle of shit storylines and even shittier twists and turns e.g. plastic surgeries, dead coming alive, hundreds of marriages, thousands of children. It was fascinating for the audience at one point but now the nonsense has spread far and wide and we both seem to agree, Parichay has been saved from a lot of this mind boggling W*Fery. There was always a fear of things taking a typical Kekta style turn and they even did with the illegal and sick marriage we saw in November and that was apparently Ekta Kapoor's "dream track" (🤢) and we all know how revolting that phase of the show was. But then again, we have been saved from plastic surgeries and seeing dead men walking in the show and also the show hasn't been through hundreds of leaps for now and this is exactly why even I personally think it is best for the show to end at this point. I know for a fact that if the show does continue, there is no way in hell that Kunal and Siddhi will stay together because you can never have the lead pair of the show staying together and staying happy if you want TRPs. I am neither for, nor against the idea of a season 2 for the show but thinking about it logically and realistically, I don't see it happening. I won't list out my reasons for thinking so because it seems that a lot of people are very earnestly trying to get the show to return and I really don't want to curb their enthusiasm.

Anyways, as far as I see it, the audience of Parichay has been saved a lot of misery, heartburn and headache with the show thankfully taking a route less traveled rather than following the norm. I only hope for the show to end on a positive note and I wish Samir and Keerti do well as actors in the future.

Shobhit and Deepshadow -

U both have raised very valid points regarding the present state of indian television and Kekta maiiya type of soaps on TV..I am a woman n it is really repulsive to see the way women r portrayed in any show..why cant they show a leading lady as strong independent, and career oriented today's woman who handles professional n personal life and tries to strike a balance between them. If they show such wonam then she has to be negative..wat kind of logic is this?? r v living in stone age..i bet women mst have been stronger in tht age rather than present era.. I hate this..i never njoyed these shows n n i never can...

coming back to the point, apart from that crap track of marriage, we have really been spared by all the senseless torture in our show Parichay..i really feel sad when such path-breaking shows dnt get desired TRPs..

if here we r getting S2, I would really wish it to be a fresh start..even if they opt for continuation then I really dnt want generation leap n actors more thn Siddhi's age playing her grandchildren🤢..just a thgt of it making me feel like throwing up🤢🤢
