People rarely go to the depth of any fictional character but I appreciate your thinking ability and also your ability to pen down your thoughts.
Thats why the Parichay fans are a different lot.
Kunal's character is unique in Indian Television, understandable by a few.
My mother says "I hate Kunal because he doesnt work",She also feels sad for Siddhi and gets irritated with Kunal's anger and when he shows attitude to Siddhi.
My mother's thoughts are the views of 90% of daily soap watching viewers who doesnt get into the depth of any character .They like leads who are totally perfect and flawless,a perfect daughter/son,brother/sister, wife/husband, mother/father etc.
We love KC because he is perfectly imperfect.

I agree with you.
Usually for a character to get sympathy on tv is shedding tears and most of the time female viewers will easily get connected with female lead.
Not saying Kunal has no fault; no he has. I see both Kunal-Siddhi are equally wrong. But looking at individual characters, Kunal is more complex.
His anger is his biggest defense mechanism. we saw how vulnerable he was in front of Siddhi when drunk. If he was only living self-pity, well he would act more like victim in front of everyone. but he tries his best to act he doesn't care.
Again if he was all about ego and hurt; why he stood like a fool in court when everyone was taking dig at him. He had ample chances to put Siddhi in bad light but he didn't.
Him fighting with police in first episode, going for boxing to get money; no one in their right state of mind would do that as it is self-destructive.
Kunal - yes he is perfectly imperfect and that's why we love him.
