Chapter 4 –

"Salo bad mere darvaze pe, dastak deta he koi, (after years, I hear knock on my door)

Ziandagi kya hoti he, firse dikhalata he koi; (what is life is being shown to me again)

Na jane kiasa toofan aa rahe he meri raahotn me, (wonder what storm is heading my way)

Is toofan ke aane ka, intazar kar raha he koi. (waiting when this storm will come along)

Kunal stares at his diary for a sometime while lost in deep thoughts; finally puts it away.

The day of final hearing comes. Courtroom is full of people. All of the workers and their families are present, along with all executive officers of the corporation. Thakral, Richa and Anand are busy in some intense discussion. Siddhi arrives 5 minutes before the hearing starts. Again she is alone from her law firm. Everyone is staring at her making her feel bit uncomfortable. She sure dreamed of fighting such a case, but never in her wildest dream had she thought her very first case will put her in such state. Media was also gathered to get coverage of every second of the case.

The judge comes right on time. He asks court proceeding to start. Siddhi gets up first, bit nervously, "your honor, as per last hearing.."

Just then Anand Chopra cuts her off in very intimidating tone, "well your honor there is nothing left to be discussed now…."

While Anand is going on about something Siddhi tunes out as she felt someone's strong presence there. Siddhi looked back, nothing. She looked in the corner right next to the door and there was Kunal Chopra standing there. Giving her intense look as what are you doing. Siddhi felt chills throughout and remembered what Kunal had said in the letter at the end.

Siddhi turns her face towards Anand and with command, "Mr. Chopra, I am not done yet. Please be courteous enough to let me finish first what I have to say, then you can start your attack on me." Ending with real attitude and the look.

There was pin drop silence in court room. Everyone was amazed or rather shocked😲 as what just happened. Thakral almost fell of his chair and Anand's jaws were dropped touching floor as is this the same Siddhi? So far they saw anxious and bit intimidated Siddhi but in one minute everything changed. Siddhi looked back where Kunal was standing and she saw sense of approval on his face. Thakral too looked back and got even more tensed to see Kunal Chopra standing there. Without his knowledge he was perspiring badly along with Richa.

For next half hour Siddhi was in full attitude of JKR. Any arguments raised by Anand were countered with full command and for the first time she was making it very hard for gold medalist to hold his ground. After hearing all the arguments, Judge announced a break and said he will hear closing arguments when back. All the workers were very much happy as how the hearing went. Siddhi looked back near the door, but Kunal wasn't there. She felt bit disappointed but oh well at least he came.

Once she came out, she was confronted by Richa and Thakral. Thakral, "You are playing with fire. You still have time, walk away before you get burn."😡

Siddhi, "I have come so far, why not go all the way."

It infuriated both Richa and Thakral very much. Thakral, "This is not you. This is Kunal Chopra talking. Do not make the mistake he did. Few years ago he gave me similar attitude and see where is he now?"

"Right here." Came a strong deep voice from back. When everyone looked in the direction, they saw Kunal walking towards them with anger on his face. He walked fast towards them and stood next to Siddhi. "Thakral, you are still that cheap man. Trying to pick on her? Why don't you pick someone your own size? Just because I was "dormant" all these years, doesn't mean anything. Anytime you feel like visiting my last case, I am always ready."☢️ Kunal put everyone on their right place. Thakral and Richa were out of words. Siddhi was obviously on cloud 9 as Kunal Chopra is defending her and damn he is so good at it. Now she knows why the guy has attitude.

Once the court session was restored, judge asked both lawyers to provide closing statement. Siddhi had been preparing for this since the day Kunal had given her note. Siddhi stood up, "My lord, I am not going to provide any more arguments. Instead I have a question for the court. Why is it that this case came so far? Would this case come this far if corporation was not defended by Thakrals? Would this case take so long if this new comer lawyer wasn't the one fighting for the workers? Why is it that every hearing prosecution has to establish facts that are indeed based on proper documents? Why is it anything prosecution says must go through utmost scrutiny when defense is able to insinuate anything but not be held accountable? We talk about justice, liberty, equality as essential component of largest democracy, was this case analyzed under those tenants or not?" Siddhi ended her vehement rhetoric and sat down with attitude. Once again she dazzled everyone. She looked towards Kunal and he was trying hard to hide his smile.

Of course the outcome of the trial was in favor of workers thanks to team A Kunal-Siddhi. As soon as Siddhi came out, she was attacked by media.⭐️ But Siddhi was not concerned about them. Her eyes were searching for only and only Kunal. After good 2 minutes she caught Kunal standing under old tree with his hands folded and back on tree. Siddhi wanted to go to him but may be Kunal sensed it so he left the place. Siddhi did give a brief interview to media but ran back to the office.

To her surprise, office staff had thrown party for Siddhi. As soon as she entered everyone welcomed, congratulated with utmost cheer and the office was literary decorated. Siddhi received many gifts and her boss even announced pay raise for her. This was may the best day of Siddhi's life in such a long time but still she was not able to enjoy it fully. Her eyes were still searching for Kunal. After some time everyone calmed down as they spotted Kunal standing at the door. People felt now no more celebration as akdoo is back.

Without giving any importance to anyone, Kunal went straight to his desk. Siddhi too followed him but Kunal again had buried himself in files. Siddhi wanted to talk but didn't know it will be such a good idea. Siddhi too sat on her desk and saw a card there. Siddhi opened the card and it simply said congratulations with an elegant ink pen. No name was written so Siddhi thought obviously it's from her akdoo. Siddhi felt urgent need to speak and she spoke with enough volume that Kunal can hear her, "What to do with some people? Why can't they say congratulation like everyone else? They show this attitude and indifference, but then leave things for you. I like the attitude, but being honest is also good thing." She too ended with some attitude and looked at Kunal.

Kunal knew this was for him so he turned towards Siddhi, shook his head, "Vakil sahiba Siddhi Malik, congratulations. You were damn good today."😊

Siddhi got more energy and she jumped from her chair and said, "I know I did a good job."😎

Both Kunal and Siddhi shared an intense eye-lock, and together just bursted out in laughter. Both really didn't care of controlling theirs eves and were laughing out loud. Office staff was stunned to see that Kunal Chopr is actually laughing?😲 But completely oblivious to their surroundings, these two went on to laugh for quite some time.
