With the influx of Human Rights watchdogs world-wide, the World Federation of Kidnappers has unanimously voted to put into use, the new "victim-friendly" tying method with immediate effect.

The green arrow points to the free arm, which allows the victim full use of one arm. Thanks to this new, humane method, the victim can now apply make up, wipe her tears, scratch various parts of her body or run her fingers through her hair. (since husband's head is unavailable)
If boredom strikes, she can easily undo the knots herself & stretch out, go to the loo or make a few phone calls if she wishes to. When she is ready to get back to the chair, all she has to do is call the kidnapper to tie her up again, in exactly the same way.
This unique, new method has been approved by the Human Rights association & has even come as a relief to the kidnappers themselves as it has greatly reduced the ear shattering shrieking of the victims brought on by discomfort.
