Because she is a friend and companion and he's literally lived with her...So he has a connection with her. In life, you don't have to be a lover of someone to be attached to them or have feelings for them...Emotions are more complex. Thus far, he is not possessive of her or longing for her; he does not love her. Love will happen...But later.

He is feeling unworthy of her since wedding days he keep saying m useless you deserve better but he can't stop himself going near to her even felt her pain when terrorist was standing on her hand
