Satyabhama was not proud or arrogant. That is a common misconception among people, mainly due to her wrong portrayal in movies (especially in the 60s and 70s) and shows. In the epics, there are no stories where Satyabhama is arrogant or nasty to the other wives. She was bold, playfully competitive and kept Krishna on his toes, but she got along well with the other wives. Why wouldn't she? All eight of them were the same, so it's common sense that all eight would like each other. Satyabhama disliking the other wives is like her disliking herself. 😆

The parijata flower incident was to teach Devi Sachi (Indra's wife) a lesson, as she had gotten proud of having the parijata tree in her garden. Satyabhama wasn't jealous that Krishna gave the flower to Rukmini. She was displeased with Devi Sachi that only one flower was sent with Narada, when Krishna had other wives also, so she encouraged Krishna to wage a battle against Lord Indra to teach Sachi Devi a lesson, and in turn she got the parijata tree to Dwaraka, where all eight wives were able to enjoy its flowers.

The tulabharam incident was a leela to teach the world that devotion is more important than wordly riches. Rukmini, Satyabhama, Krishna and Narada were all players in the leela, but in the end the message was the same. Satyabhama after all, was a part of Mahalakshmi too, so why would she be obsessed with worldly riches over devotion? She playacted her so-called 'pride' so that the world would learn this lesson.

I also think that if people only use a bit of their common sense, a lot of these misconceptions would not exist.

Well it's Monday and if your first thought was "gee, I can't wait to watch PSK today", then I wish you the very best of luck when you watch today's episode because it was mindlessly stupid. The only saving grace was Yashoda scenes ONCE AGAIN, but still it doesn't excuse the stupidity this show produces.
Let's start from the beginning shall we --

So we last left off with Krishna sneaking out of the house and meeting up with his friends so they could start Mission: Calves Need Milk First. Putana is following closely behind.

In Nanda's home, Yashoda and Rohini are chit-chatting about Krishna. That's when Balarama appeared and asked Yashoda where Kanha is, and upon finding out that he's still sleeping, he begins to think that it's odd for Krishna to do something like this. Yashoda agrees and when she goes to the bedroom, it's the classic "use pillows as a body" scene. Yashoda gets extremely worried and looks all around the house but Krishna can't be found. She starts to head out, but is stopped by Damodar and Rohini. It's later told that Damodar goes out to look for Krishna.

Over at Krishna's end, they are walking and talking. He sends Mangal out to get the remaining kids. Mission: Calves Need Milk First (CNMF)'s plan is insanely brilliant (/rolls eyes/). The kids are going to hide, the parents are going to get super worried, and the calves will be able to drink milk.

Randomly Krishna's friends decide to hide (I guess play some game while they wait for the other friends to join them?). Putana is following close behind and her genius plan now involves killing them one by one (the kheer plan seems to be a dead end). She starts with Dhama.

Because Putana is so brilliant, she decides to extend her ugly witch hands with long finger nails, etc. right next to Dhama's face, so Dhama naturally sees it and screams.

That's when the real stupidity begins with a scene change to our lovely commentators up above. Lakshmi notes that Krishna is doing his leelas for the calves' rights instead of taking away the fear / worry of Yashoda and Devaki (both his mothers). So she asks Vishnu what benefit the world will get from these leelas. 🤣🤣🤣

Vishnu replies something along the lines of how these leelas will help people realize good from bad, and help them start on the path of dharma (I might be wrong, so anyone brave enough to watch this, please correct me).

So Lakshmi asks, "Prabhu, how will these baal leelas result in Kamsa's end?"

Vishnu reminds her "Remember, Krishna wasn't born just to kill Kamsa, but to re-establish the principles of dharma."

Great conversation right?

We're back in Gokul now, and Krishna and all his friends have joined together and are heading to Gopishwar Cave in Govardhan Hill. As Krishna leads his friends, they pass a cowherd villager who notes that Krishna and his friends are headed to Gopishwar Cave.

Yashoda is frantically worried at this point. She blames herself because she thinks that Krishna left because he was angry with her and he wasn't going to come back. That's when Nanda comes home, and she tries to convince him to go out and look for Krishna and tell him that Maiya will never tie him to her pallu again. She tells him that Damodar left earlier but he still hasn't returned. Nanda tries to calm her down saying that Damodar will bring back Krishna, and just then Damodar returns followed by a bunch of villagers. Damodar has scanned the area but he can't find Krishna. He also reports that all the kids around Krishna's age have disappeared as well. That's when that cowherd guy I mentioned earlier tells everyone that he saw Krishna and his friends headed towards Gopishwar Cave.

(SERIOUSLY ... the guy was part of the group... and he didn't feel the need to say anything until that point).

Rohini recalls Akrur's words about how Putana is killing babies all around Vraj Mandal. Anyway, Nanda, Yashoda, Rohini, Balarama, and the other Gokul folks rush to gopishwar cave.

Back to Govardhan Hill - Krishna arrives when the sun is still up, but as he assigned groups of friends different hiding spots it becomes dark. Putana also appears and turns into her monster form. No ... not the super ugly one with horns and what not. Nooo, she has an intermediate form where she becomes dark, but not fully witch like.

She talks to herself about how Krishna has foiled all her plans (LADY, he let the calves drink the milk. OMFG how did those plans get screwed up. You could have done your kheer party the very next day."

That's when Nanda and villagers make it to the cave. They see the giant Putana standing in front of the cave and they are shocked. Putana enters the cave, and Yashoda runs towards the cave thinking something will happen to her lalaa. Nanda, Rohini, Balarama follow close behind, while the villagers follow behind them.

Inside the cave, Putana isn't found anywhere, nor are the kids.

We're now in Kamsa's court and guess what! Chanur kidnapped Putana and brought her to Kamsa. Kamsa plans to kill Putana, and the very end is him bringing his sword over Putana.

Rating: 1/10 SCREW THIS SHIT.

Positives: Yashoda scene.

Negatives: Everything else.

Recommendation: Hahahahahahahaha. No.

Shyam, your daily updates are truly entertaining and much appreciated! 👏😆 It saves me the trouble of watching the episodes, as I can simply read your review and decide whether to watch or not. I haven't watched since the leap, except for the Yashoda scenes you recommended. The Gokul scenes are cute enough, all though I wish they'd follow the actual stories instead of making up their own. I really don't understand why they do it. The Bhagavat is full of numerous Bal leela stories, that could last them for many episodes, and each of them is more interesting/meaningful than anything their writers come up with. By now, they could've covered so much ground, and instead of dragging out the made up Putana track, I wish they'd show some siblings bonding scenes between Kanha and Balaram. Why is it that new mytho makers are so insistent on showing scenes that audience doesn't even like, and ignoring the ones that they actually want to see?

I agree about the kid actor. He's very cute and acts well for his age, but he just doesn't have the look of Krishna. Oh well, he's not going to last forever.

Swagatam, Mubarakam, Welcome to Tuesday's PSK UPDATE!
I'm at work today, so unable to watch it live, but read the Written Update online to see if it's worth watching ... any guesses what that'll be? LOL

Basically, to summarize the summary, Putana is in Kamsa's court room begging Kamsa Bhagavan that she is telling the truth. Devaki's 8th was in the cave because she saw the god like face and power from the cave almost destroy her.

The flashback - Putana enters the cave in her demon form (I guess it's her mid-transformation level still) and starts calling out "Kanha, everyone come out, I will kill you all!"

<Because you know when someone tells you to come outside so you can kill them, that's the first thing you do. In that case, eenie meenie minee moe, I choose Nandini. Come out come out wherever you are Nandini, I'm going to make cookies out of you! Very tempting right?>

So Krishna's friends are all worried, but Krishna spouts some Yashoda wisdom "My mother always says that we should stay silent and think when we are in a problem." I can hear those lines without even watching the episode, and never have I wanted to silence anyone more. I really don't like these silly timed sayings.

So Putana, ever so intelligent, decides to force the children out. How? By telling them that if they don't come out, she's going to put her hand in, pull everyone out, and eat everyone.

Wow, that's brilliant. She tells them that either way they are going to die, but gives them some hope by saying that she's only going to put her hand inside. Why she didn't enter herself is strange (she can increase and decrease her size at will, so why is she bothering to put her hand in? Why not just enter.

So friends freak out as per the norm, and Kanha spouts some more silly stuff "My mother always says that when you are in trouble, you should pray to god." So the children all pray and Vishnu looks and smiles. Rocks break and powerful energy comes from the prayers. Putana cries out for the children to stop their prayers (woww, like that's going to work).

That's when Chanur comes to the rescue and saves us from this epitome of dumbness.

Some court room drama happens and as Chanur removes his sword to kill Putana, look it's a butterfly, no a plane, no a flying sandwich!!! Naah, it's just a big ol' Bak-Bakasura birdy. He begs for one chance for Putana, otherwise he'll kill her himself.

Then Yashoda and everyone enter the cave, cry a little, and then Krishna appears and hugs his mom, while the other children also run and hug their moms.

Here's the moral:

Just how all the children's moms were sad after seeing their children go away from them, the same happens with the cows. Mommy cow gets sad when baby cow gets taken away from her and when her baby doesn't get food it deserves, the child is sad too.

That's when Narada chirps in "How easily little kanha taught everyone and gave them the message he wanted to give. He told them that animals and humans are different but they all have the same emotions."

Yashoda, of course, says that Kanha has taught everyone a lesson and has opened their eyes.

Kamsa agrees to give putna a chance.

Precap: putna makes kheer and adds the poison. Kanha and friends come to eat. Narada tells Vishnu that if anyone eats the kheer, they won't survive the poison, and to do something about it.

Whew, so I'd give the episode a 1/10 rating today as well. I'm sure the Yashoda scenes were great, but not even going to bother.

Recommendation: No no no nooo. no no no nooo. nono nono nono nooo.

Lmao Shyam, your updates truly make my day. 🤣

Seems like today's good to skip also. I don't understand the weird, twisted mentality of mytho makers nowadays with the animal rights messages, which don't even make sense. Like, I totally am all for animal rights, being a vegetarian myself, but they make it seem like our puranas were anti-animal. 😕 Krishna was called Gopala and Govinda, for heaven's sake! He was the protector of cows. The Yadavas did not ill-treat their cows, that's not how cowherding happened. The calves were never deprived of their milk. "Calf rights" were never an issue in Krishna's life, so why are they creating new issues out of nowhere and ignoring the real issues that actually happened? I could literally hit my head against a brick wall at the half-baked knowledge of these writers. Anyone with a basic knowledge of cows knows that taking milk from a cow doesn't deprive a calf of its milk. The cow first gives milk to its calf before giving milks to anyone else. My grandfather owned several cows in his village, and I saw how it happened every time I visited India.

First, they have Sita lecturing Ram about animal rights when he goes to hunt Mareecha in the most recent Ramayan (when the issue was never hunting, it was that Mareecha was a freaking demon), and now they have Krishna lecturing about calf rights.

I think I'm done with this show, at least until Krishna grows up significantly and if the show gets back on track...somewhat. The current phase is annoying as hell.

I ran out of introductions. Need to recharge. Bleep Bloop Beep.
Alright, let's just get down and dirty with today's episode of PSK. You are in for some treat today. Hahaha

Yashoda is feeding Krishna. It's an okay scene with Yashoda being the cuter of the two. Tavri or Sambri (or whatever the calf's name is) moos and Krishna wants to go to him. But Yashoda stops him telling him he has to eat his makhan. Calf moos some more, and Krishna runs off. And boom! Yashoda is one step ahead of him, and forces him to sit and finish the makhan otherwise she'll get upset with him. Krishna devours like crazy, and noticing Yashoda looking away, he puts the pot down and runs away.

Yashoda grabs the pot and chases him. Nanda stops her and asks what's going on? She tells him that Krishna hasn't finished his makhan. Nanda looks at the pot and it's pretty much empty and he jokes about it. Yashoda looks at it but claims that there is still a ton of makhan left over, and it's a mother-son love thing, Nandaji won't understand. And off she goes.

Outside, Krishna meets with the calf and then a bunch of cowherd guys and girls appear. They thank Krishna for opening their eyes and announce that they will no longer keep the calves away from the cows. They have freed the all the calves now so they can get their mother's milk. Krishna makes a comment: "Like Mother Yashoda and Krishna, like calves and cows." Everyone laughs for some reason.

<Oh it's gets stupider>

So Putana in her woman form is getting some milk. The gopis are all happy because now the cows are giving twice as much milk so there is now no shortage. All thanks to Kanha.

<The only time I remember cows giving such a crazy amount of milk is when Brahma stole the cowherd boys and cows and Krishna expanded into each one. Anyhow, this is pathetic. I thought the whole reasoning behind keeping the calves and cows separate was so that the calves don't drink up ALL the milk. They get milk, but the villagers still need to have enough for themselves and to give as tax. But with the calves getting the first right now, what's stopping them from drinking all or most of the milk. Or do the CVs think that cows have an infinite supply of milk or something? P.S. Correct me if I'm wrong. I'm a bit hazy on this part.>

Anyway, Putana tells the ladies to send their children to her hut AT NIGHT (holy fark), and the ladies all agree. She gives a special invitation to Krishna since he joins Yashoda.

<Okay, let's take a break here and look at this. Putana has gone around killing babies in Vraj-Mandala for 5 years (which implies that each other an older baby dies. ie. year 1: babies of the age 0-1 die. Year 2: 1-2; Year 3: 2-3, etc.). Human Putana is telling everyone that she is cooking for children. How has NO ONE HEARD OF THIS AT ALL. You would think that news of a brahmini cooking and giving free food would be spread like wildfire right? Also, why are the parents so carefree to let their children wander alone at night to the hut of this random Brahmini lady that shows up. I don't eat kheer so I'm guessing the only logical explanation for this is Kheer must be eaten at night because it tastes the best at night.>

Then we are taken to the cave-prison. Vasudev looks out than at Devaki, Devaki is still in shock. He sits besides Devaki and tells her that Vishnu will make her fine. It just gives us a useless look into the boring lives of Maharaj 🤣 Vasudev and Devaki.

<10 out of 10. MUST WATCH FOR THIS SCENE ALONE. /sarcasm
Alright, now for the fun part.>

So back in Gokul, Putana is making kheer. Kids arrive. You'll be happy to know that the number of kids in Gokul is significantly less than the number of kids the age of Krishna. 🤣

Putana does some talking, Krishna does some talking, and in the end, Putana gets all freaked out because she's being outsmarted by a kid.

<Holy crap what an idiot. I'm surprised she managed to even kill babies. The baby would be like "goo-goo gaa-gaa" and Putana here would be like "OMKB (Oh My Kamsa Bhagavan), how dare you challenge me, Putana!" Baby: "Goobbla" Putana: "I need to retreat! The baby is uttering mantras that I am not aware of!">

Putana serves Krishna first because his friends all say that Krishna always eats first. That's when the cows go insane in the shed and start mooing. Nanda and the other cowherds arrive to calm the cows down, and Nanda believes that animals must have sensed some danger.

In Vishnuloka, Narad begs Vishnu to do something otherwise if everyone eats the kheer, no one will be able to live because of the poison.

<Why doesn't this guy just go down there and be like 'Narayana, Narayana. Don't eat this kids, this is Rakshasi Putana!">

Vishnu: "Maya mari na mein mara, mar mar gaya shareer"

<I don't get it, I guess Maya will always happen?>

Lakshmi: Prabhu you are speaking in riddles.

Vishnu: Devi, putana is doing her karma. If she doesn't give poison than Kamsa will kill her; like that Kanha is doing his karma of eating the kheer, and the cows are doing their karma of sensing danger. Maya will happen as it has to.

<back to Putana and kids>

So in the palace, Prapti (<3 <3) and Asti are talking. Asti tells Prapti that's it's okay, she should listen to Bhagwan Kamsa. Prapti is like "hey no sister. I don't care now. I was forcefully married to Kamsa and I DON'T LOVE HIM.

A gasp from me. Nooo. Prapti doesn't love Kamsa, woah. 🤣🤣🤣

She explains how she was just worried for Devaki Didi and was almost going to be killed for that. Asti tells Prapti to stop otherwise someone will hear. Prapti tells her that she doesn't fear death anymore. She just wants to do something good for Devaki. She believes that her 8th son is still alive.

<NO SHIT. If the 8th son is dead, there is no reason for Devaki and Vasudev to be prisoners. My goodness ...>

Precap: Kanha and friends hear the cows, and before they eat the kheer, they run to the shed. Balarama and kids find kanha in the forest near the hut of putana. He has eaten all the kheer and is lying down with a blue body.

<Prediction: Just like Lord Shiva is known as Neel-Kantha, Krishna has taken the poison in his body and thus is the reason why he is Syam 🤣🤣🤣>

Ratings: 4.5/10 I guess? I'm being super generous today.

Best scenes: Yashoda - Nanda scene. Yashoda scenes.

Recommended: The first couple of minutes for sure (Yashoda scenes). I didn't like Krishna's acting in those parts personally though.
