Until I moved to US, idea of valentine's- esp. after KJo chaos in movies that started the craze and later blew up in this day-that day week long thing is something predominantly india specific thing.
Here, max V-day cards get distributed between elementary school kids- -K-5th graders - everyone gives everyone a cutesy valentine card+ sometimes candies as allowed. there are crafty activities for kids & cupcakes.
It is about spreading love, for one & all.
From middle & high schools it becomes more friends hangout days.
Nothing whatsoever they show in Desi movies...
Young couples -old couples and all enjoy too- special date night dinners in restaurants & all+ some jewelry store (esp. because next weekend is always long weekend in US for president's day - start of engagements & wedding season) & you see Hallmark-ish bonanzas.
Bas that's it.
