Just completed reading all the three parts, all were love!!🤗
Waiting for next update!!❤️
Your chapters are getting interesting day by day and the childhood connection you bring up in every chapter is heart warming to read. This is who they are. Many of us who watch the show from the beginning wanted their childhood connection explored in detail but we never got it but your story is making it up for all of it.
Atlast Shiva made Raavi smile. The progress is small but it’s happening❤️ I know you are planning to Raavi to Jamnagar, hopefully before she leaves, is back yo her bubbly self or I would like to see if Shiva is able to stop her from going. Your story has many possibilities and I have no doubt that you will give us the best possible story for them.
So, when is the next chapter coming? 😆
lmaoo, soon (maybe in an hour or so) and thank you for the beautiful comment, makes me smile every time 🤗
Chapter 4: Mendak Jaise
"Gaumbi!"
"Dhara..." Gautam shook his head at his eccentric wife while matching the accounts, since Dev was on vacation, he had to make sure the entries were posted and everything balanced. "Tu kuch zyaada hi soch rahi hai,"
"Main Shiva ko acche se jaanti hu." She whined, tugging at Gautam's arm, "I am telling you, Raavi ke saath jo hua hai uska seedha asar hua hai, usse."
"Dhara," Gautam sighed, shaking his head. "Shiva aur Raavi bachpan se sirf ladte aaye hai," He said stating a fact which the entire town knew. "Tell me one instance where you saw both of them happy and smiling together without them pouncing at each other?" He made a point because Dhara could not remember any such incident.
Every time Raavi and Shiva were together, they had only fought. Sometimes Raavi would cry at Shiva's incessant teasing, sometimes Shiva would break things at Raavi's taunts. But these two were never together in the same team. Never did anyone in Somnath see these two gel up or agree or hint anything about being friends.
"But, Gaumbi," Gautam smiled at Dhara's another sweet interruption, and he faced her, "Ho sakta hai na, ki we don't know what happened between them?" She tilted her head, pouting, "I mean, we were not there when they were kids, so ho sakta hai ki things happened which we had no idea about?"
Before Gautam could contradict that, Krish plopped on the sofa, laughing aloud at Dhara. "Kya bhabhi, I was with them for my entire childhood, even now, and I have never seen those two do anything but pounce at each other." He laughed, making Dhara frown at him, "and please, do not even think about getting these two together, because ye ghar Ramayan se Mahabharata ho jayega." For that Gautam gave him high-five while Dhara sighed, sitting back and mad at the Pandya men for belittling her opinion.
She was sure that Shiva and Raavi had something that was unnamed but she had no proof for the same.
"Hass lo, tum dono," She hit Krish with the pillow and scattered Gautam's papers, "but you will see. When I'll be right, you two will come to me and say, 'Waah Dhara, you were right,'"
Krish only laughed more while Gautam tried his best to hide his chuckle, and before Dhara could speak up, Shiva passed by the lot. He was folding his sleeve as he made way outside, "what is happening?" He asked, curious at the lot who were sharing a laugh. "Bhabhi pe kyu hass raha hai?" He held Krish's neck from behind and left when Gautam told him to.
"Shiva," Dhara stood next to her favourite brother-in-law, "tu apne bhabhi se pyaar karta hai?" She asked and Shiva furrowed his brows.
"Of course bhabhi, jaan de sakta hai ye Shiva aapke liye."
"aur tu manta hai teri bhabhi smart hai?"
"Ye bhi koi puchne wala sawaal hai?"
Dhara raised her brows at Krish and Gautam, "suna?"
"Bhabhi ka puch," Krish muttered but once again found his neck strangled by Shiva's strong hands, "sor-sorry," he managed to speak and Shiva left him, with a chuckle.
"Anyway," Shiva looked at the time, "Gaumbi, I'll go to the shop. Kaka told me that he needs a hand with the deliveries, they are a bit early."
"Theek che," Gautam nodded, "aur haan, Maami ke yaha delivery ke liye tu mat jaana," He instructed, as Dhara noticed how Shiva's face fell. "Last time you and she both created a ruckus so big that I had to leave the store mid-way," Shiva rolled his eyes at that, Maami deserved it, he thought. "So, I'll either send Krish or I'll go, but please, you don't."
Shiva would have agreed readily, seeing Maami's ugly face was not what he liked doing but then, he could get a glance of Raavi and see whether she was okay after yesterdays's lunch fiasco. This was such a dilemma for him, he sighed, he had to put Maami against Raavi and think whether going to check on Raavi was worth fighting with Maami.
At the end, he had to atleast see her if she was okay, fearing that she may decide to just end her life again, he took the decision to go to his Maami's house, if in that way he could see Raavi.
"Nahi Gaumbi," He hesitated as he took a step, startling the others, "I'll go," He cleared his throat, "I mean, deliver kar dunga."
"Par Shiva," Krish raised his brows, "tujhe toh Maami ki shakal pasand nahi hai? phir kyon?"
Maami ki shakal kisko dekhni hai, Shiva thought, scoffing, Maami ki Behen ki Beti ki shakal dekhni hai. Ek baar dekh lu ki woh theek hai, toh mere dimaag se bhi nikal jayegi.
"TV serial ki vamp ki tarah mann hi mann kya bol raha hai?" Krish asked, hitting Shiva with the pillow and broke his trance, "bol."
"Tujhe kya?" He threatened Krish and Krish backed off, "zyaada bola mat kar, ek din bolti band kar dunga teri."
"But Shiva," Gautam asked, ignoring their silly fights, "you sure you want to go?"
"Haan," Shiva nodded, almost instantly. "Main sab kar dunga."
Dhara who understood why he suddenly took interest in going to his arch-enemy's house smiled, "saaru," She smirked, "toh maine subah kheer banayi hai woh Raavi ko de dena. Lage haath mil bhi loge tum dono."
"Ussi ke liye to jaa raha hu," He blurted out, and realised what he said but Gautam and Krish both heard him clearly, Dhara packing the kheer with a smile. "I mean, I was not supposed to meet that chipkali, but if you say so, bhabhi..." He bit his tongue and rubbed his neck in embarrassment while Gautam smiled and Krish got up, standing behind Shiva.
"Raavi aagayi,"
Shiva quickly turned, heart beating rapidly when he turned to the door only to see Krish laughing, teasing and pointing at him and Shiva rushed behind him. "Bhabhi, Krish ke liye bhi halwa banana," Shiva said, chasing Krish.
"Kyu?"
"Isski tervi ke liye chahiye hoga na,"
Gautam got hold of Shiva while Krish hid behind Dhara, calming the angry man. "Krish ko chod, ye le," Dhara handed Shiva the packed tiffin, "and haan, Maami se koi badtameezi nahi, Shiva." Dhara warned him and Shiva nodded, still glaring at Krish but walking out of the house with a relieved sigh.
He could once again see Raavi today.
_
Kaka had listed him the entire items and Shiva hurriedly put everything in the sack, ticking off everything and waving the old man a goodbye, he left for Maami's house. In all the haste, Shiva had left out the tiffin which Dhara had given packed but before Kaka could inform Shiva, that guy was gone.
Never had Kaka seen Shiva so excited to go to Prafulla's house.
Shiva on the other hand stood in front of Prafulla's house in no time, panting as he kept the sack and the bag filled with grocery items down. He looked at the balcony first, hoping that if he did see Raavi there, he would just leave the items here and go. There would be no need to see Maami's face then.
But if only if he was so fortunate.
"Somnath," Shiva uttered a prayer, "Ya toh Maami ki kaali zubaan ko sambhal lena, ya mere gusse ko. Warna aaj toh kaand ho kar rahega."
He knocked the door and Anita opened it, startled to see Shiva out of everyone, here to deliver the goods. She stood on the door, blocking the view so Prafulla who sat in the hall would not be able to see Shiva and viceversa.
"Ye raha saman," Shiva said, tiptoeing and trying to catch a glimpse of Raavi. "Main andhar rakh deta hu,"
"Nahi nahi," Anita did not want a headache first thing in the morning, "I'll take them myself, and we'll pay the money later."
Shiva found Prafulla seated on the swing, reading a book, and his Maama was repairing a table fan, but Raavi was nowhere to be found. "Nahi, Anita dii," He said, still lost in searching for her as he held the bags, "main aata hu, ye heavy hai."
While Shiva entered in, ready for chaos, Anita was shell shocked. She was still at the door, contemplating whether or not Shiva had just called her as Anita dii instead of just Anita in a rude tone. She could not believe her ears and would have almost agreed on being deaf if Prafulla had not screamed angrily behind her, snapping her back to reality.
"Ye jungli saand yaha kya kar raha hai?" She yelled, as Shiva ignored her, scanning everywhere. "Ey Shiva, wahi reh," She said, both scared and angry, "ye mera ghar hai."
Shiva shrugged, eyes scanning the place, "Toh? Maine kab kaha ye bhoot bangla mera hai."
"Ey," Maami screamed and softened her tone when Shiva glared at her, relaxing, "I mean, itne aache ghar ko tu bhoot bangla keh raha hai?"
"Haan toh tujh jaisi chudail rahegi toh wahi kahunga," Shiva answered, not flinching once. "Tu chudail, aur woh chipkali," He said, upset on not finding her anywhere, "dikhai nahi de rahi waise," He yelled. He hoped that in case she was upstairs, she might just hear him and come down, "darr ke baith toh nahi gayi na kone mein?"
Before Prafulla could retort back, his Mama held her, calming her down and then approaching Shiva. "Shiva, kuch kaam tha?"
"Haan woh," He pointed at the sack, laying them down and then his eyes glanced across the kitchen where Raavi was wearing headsets and kneading the dough. Words stuck in his mouth and he watched the girl, hair messily undone, pinned in a low pony and headphones on her ears. "Woh..."
Anita, and both Maama and Maami looked at Shiva, dumbfounded and then at each other. Prafulla even snapped her fingers at him but Shiva was only eyeing Raavi who was busy in the kitchen, but she was offbeat. Nor her lips synched the words nor her feet tapped in rhythm. It was like she was just not affected by anything.
This was not how Raavi would enjoy music.
"Where's the party tonight, on the dance floor... where is the..."
Shiva glanced to his left, mimicking and dancing to the famous song was little Raavi of 13, the little radio in her hands and her feet tapping the floor as she danced around. Her hands imitating the exact same steps from the movie, her lips singing those words and her face brightened like it could beat the sun in its radiance.
"Mendak jaise gaati hai tu, kisine bataye tujhe?"
Shiva sighed, looking at the entrance, where stood 13 year old Shiva, smirking as he approached Raavi. How is that all the fights were always initiated by Shiva and all Raavi did was reciprocate. He looked at his younger self, this guy would always pin-point at anything Raavi would do.
It was like he wanted her attention.
"Kya problem hai teri," Raavi replied, switching the radio off. "Abh main apne ghar pe sing aur dance bhi nahi kar sakti?"
"Ye tera ghar nahi, maami ka ghar hai." Shiva rolled his eyes, walking closer to him. "And if you actually sang or danced well, I would not have said anything."
Raavi laughed, pointing at him, "please, if I sang well or danced well, which I am really great at," Shiva scoffed, "even then you would never appreciate me," Raavi was about to leave when Shiva held her hand.
"What do you mean?"
"Leave my hand."
"No," He name called her and she sighed, "explain yourself."
"I mean you do not like me Shiva, and I still don't know why, maybe you are pretending." Raavi said, looking at him, "and no matter what I do, you will never like it, simply because you do not like me."
"So you are telling me that you are an amazing girl, but since I hate you, everything about you irks me?" Shiva thought out loud and Raavi nodded, pulling her hand from his grip. "What rubbish."
"Rubbish nahi, truth." Raavi smiled, tilting her head. "You secretly like me, you know that I dance and sing well, but since you pretend to hate me, you pretend to hate all my habits too."
Shiva was confused but more than that, Raavi was enjoying messing with his head. She just wanted to have fun for once and confused Shiva helped her a lot to laugh later.
"So you are saying that if I stopped hating you and like you, I'd like your singing and dancing too?" Shiva asked, his head had stopped making sense and Raavi stifled a chuckle. "So does this mean that I hate you, or I like you or that you are good in all this but I hate you because you are good or I like you because you are good but hate you because I hate you."
And while Shiva scratched his head, confused, and error 404 running across his mind, Raavi laughed out loud as she left, whistling.
"Ye Maami ki Behen ki Beti kya keh ki gayi?" Little Shiva held his head, "Do I like her but hate her because she is Raavi or do I hate her but I like her because she is Raavi?"
Shiva was confused, looking at himself, years back, trying to understand his feelings. Poor 13 year old Shiva, he thought, no one could understand women, not then, not now. But this round was once again a Raavi round, after that evening, Shiva did not speak to Raavi for a week because he thought he actually liked her until Raavi confessed that it was just a joke.
But now thinking about it, Shiva realised that it was no joke. Maybe it was for Raavi but not to him, because Raavi's dancing and singing were out of the world. Sure they were not perfect but it was still musical to him and seeing her this way, he wished to go back to the little Raavi and tell her to keep dancing and singing to her hearts' content.
That very moment he was lost looking at her, Raavi looked at him, their eyes met and she tilted her head and Shiva looked at the people gathered around him.
What is happening to him? Is he going crazy? Does he need help?
"Woh kya?" Maami asked, confused, "ye ek minute se woh pe hi atka hai, oh bhai," She looked at Shiva, "aage bhi bol, kabse khade hai hum yaha, pair dard hone lag gaye."
"Woh?" Shiva looked at Prafulla, "kaun woh?"
"Bhai, hume kya paata,"
"toh woh woh kya laga rakha hai?" Shiva asked, furious now and all those gathered took a step back. "Koi woh nahi, bas ye dene aaya tha."
"Ajeeb hai ye," Prafulla shook her head as Shiva walked towards the door, Raavi looking at the guy, confused as well. "Ey Raavi, bach gayi tu, warna ye paagal ke saath uss ghar mein rehna padta."
Shiva turned to see Raavi still looking at him, her hands were covered in the dough and she nodded, asking if everything was okay and Shiva shook his, because it was not.
Everything was not okay.
That 13 year old Raavi had messed up everything.
_
A/N honestly, that happy go lucky Raavi was lost after that wedding disaster. That girl was so carefree, nazar lag gayi...
Shiva is confused, are you too?
