PART-1
"roothen khwabon ko mana lenge"
The loan track had ended on somewhat bitter-sweet notes, Rishita was still at Janardhan's home and refused to forgive everyone,Dhara had went to Hardik's house for a few days...she was feeling guilty for doing everything and it's consequences, Raavi and Shiva's blossoming love turned into a misunderstanding leading into an ugly argument but it had sorted, meanwhile Rishita and Dev too weren't on some feasible terms.
After approximately a fortnight, it was the time for one of the most celebrated festival in Gujarat, one of the favorites of Gujarati families, Uttrayan or say makar sankranti.Pandya Store was again progressing as it was open 24/7 and all brothers word day in and out for repayment of loan.
Raavi finished her chores as she went to Suman kaki's room to give her medicines, it wasn't anythung new she would do that every day but today, she was hesitant, she entered the room and saw suman chanting the mala, she took two steps backwards and closed her eyes, she again took a breathe and moved forward three steps but again stood in the way, she opened her mouth to something but didn't utter a word and pouted; Suman who had been watching this narrowed her eyes and said, "Yeh tu kya aage piche aage piche voh ajibogarib steel ke dabbe vale insan jese kar rahi hai, shu vaat che?Kahin firse tumlogo mein se kisine kaand toh nahi kiya?",...Raavi didn't understand the term so she repeated, "Ajibogarib steel ke dabbe vala insan matlab?", And Suman replied, "arre vahi jo automatic chalta hai insan...", "Oh achha achha...robottt!" Said Raavi, "haan haan vahi ab tu voh bhagodi ki beti ki tarah meri galtiyan mat nikal baat kya hai yeh bata" To which Raavi nodded in no, but stood silent, Suman to her curiosity added again, "Bolegi bhi ya bas putla banke khada rehna hai?", To which Raavi took a deep breathe and said, "Vohkakimainbolnachahtithikikyunamaiaapkaudhyogstartkaru?", Suman got confused,she chuckled and said, "arre Rajdhani beta dhime dhime bol samaj pade esa bata, idhar aa, dare che kem, aa idhar beth na", to which Raavi went and sat in front of suman, she played with her dupatta and took a deep breathe, she again repeated, "Kaki voh...voh mai...voh mai soch rahi thi ki..iss saal kyun na hum aapka gruh udhyog hai usse restart kare?Uttrayan aane wala hai na toh hum undhiyu aur jalebi ke orders leke delivery kare...aapka jo udhyog bandh hogaya tha iss bahane voh start hojayega toh fir aanewale garmiyon mein aachar ka bhi business hojayega...aur undhiyu ke sath tel aur Sev toh humare store mein milta hai, matlab ek patand chaga kar hum kitni aur patang kaat denge?Par yeh mera idea tha aap jo bologe hum vahi karenge".
Raavi said out loud the thoughts she had been thinking about for the whole day, the family was in need of finances and Suman' s gruh udhyog had been shutter after Darshan's death so she thought why not to re-commence the same.She saw Suman who was now speechless, her eyes grew teary, and kept staring Raavi for a couple of minutes.Raavi said, "Kaki voh Mera matlab tha aapka sapna tha na isiliye socha pan koi baat nahi sorryy mai toh dobi hu kuch bolti hu sorryy" and looked down, Suman wiped out her tear which rolled down and replied, "Arre Raavi beta nahi nahi tune toh saalon pehle ka mera sapna firse dekha hai, aajtak yeh kisine nahi socha, bhale bhagodi ki beti kitni bhi mahaan kyu na bane aaj tak usne yeh nahi socha aur tune socha"...Raavi was clueless, did she like the idea or not she thought to herself, she added, "Kaki aapko yeh idea pasand aaya?", To which suman gave her a big smile and said, "arre ekdum top class beshtum besht idea hai tera, chal phastmphast list banake kaam pe lag jaate hai aaj ma aur beti dono milke ekdum teshty undhiyu banayenge pura somnath ungliyan chaat ta reh jayega", Raavi's eyes got moistened, and stayed silent to which Suman said, "Arre Kahan kho gayi?List nahi banana kya?", to which she nodded in yes and smiled,all she managed to say is, "Kaki aapne mujhe beta bola" and hugged her tightly, she was overwhelmed, undoubtedly mami had loved her like a mother but when Suman claimed to be her mother now she was happy and emotional at the same time.
In an hour both Suman and Raavi made a list, of all the material they will be needing for the preparation of undhiyu, Suman tries dialling Dev and Krish but they don't pick up as usual, so she instead calls Shiva, he picks up the call, "Aey Shivaa yeh sab ke sab naaspite kahan hai dekhto jara haram hai jo maa ka ek phone utha ke baat karle, sabko phone kuwe mein fek dungi mai than", said Suman annoyingly, Shiva calmly answered, "Hello ma, aap abhi tak soyi nahi?Sab thik haina?", "Haan haan badhu barabr che ekdum takatak chu hu, pan abhi Raavi na tujhe wastup par ek lisht bhejegi, voh sab saman gharpe bhijwa dena beta abhi thodi der mein" said Suman, to which Shiva replied, "Voh to mai bhijwa dunga pan achanak itne sare saman ki kya zarurat padi?", and Suman said, "Voh tum abhi gharpe aaoge na toh sabko sath bataungi han abhi ekdum phastmphast sab saman leke bhijwa de aur khud bhi aajaao sab han,chalo jai somnath". Raavi worriedly asked, "Kya hua kaki sab plan ke hisab see hoga na?", to which she replied, "tu bilkul tenson mat le sab ekdum perphect hoga ekdum firsht class dekhna".
Raavi goes to kitchen to make chai for everyone while Suman starts cleaning coriander and mint for chutney, whereas Dev, Shiva and Krish come with all the vegetables,oil & masalas according to list and see Raavi and Suman doing something in kitchen. They all go there and Krish says, "Mahasaas aur maarkundi gaay kya kaand kar rahe ho akele akele,hume bhi batao" with a large grin, Raavi smiles as she sees Shiva, while Suman continues, "Aey gadheda teri bhabhi hai reshpect de ke bula, aur haan yeh sab isiliye mangwaya taaki hum iss saal ki makarsankranti jo ki kal hai uspe mast undhiyu, chutney aur jalebi ka bijiness kare, jo gruh udhyog saalon pehle iski voh kaagdi ki vajah se bandh hua tha na voh uski phool si beti ki wajah se reshtart hoga", with tears in her eyes and smile, all of them were perplexed as Raavi smiled sheepishly and looked Shiva who stood confused alongwith brothers, Shiva continued, "Iska matlab hum...yeh sab yeh Raavi ne, mai kuch samjha nai ma", to which Suman says "Yeh Raavi haina tum sab gadhedo see ismart hai han, usne mera sapna wapas jeene mujhe bola aur voh bhi sabke sath pure parivaar ke sath", to which a contented smile crept on Shiva's face and tears filled his eyes, Suman continued, "Aey Raavi dikra, ahiya aai" and she went there, Suman pulled her into a hug, Krish and Dev joined, and Shiva stood there all emotional,she looked up and pulled his hand, and blinked with a smile as if she called him for a hug, and he joined.
All of them then started to clean all vegetables and cut them, Suman had declared that Raavi will be in charge and whatever she'll tell all of them will obey, within an hour they prepared all the vegetables,finely chopped with chutney preparation, jalebi batter, sugar syrup, it was 3a.m. in the morning. Gaumbi and Dev left for store after having hot masala chai, Krish had slept while cutting potatoes and Suman sent him to sleep, Raavi took all the work from Suman and took her to the room and said, "Bas kaki bohot hogaya ab aapna sab mujhpe chod do,mai hoon na sab sambhal lungi aur dekhna aap uthoge na tab tak sab bankar ready bhi hojayega fir aap bhagwan ko prashad chadha ke taste bhi karlena okay", as she helped Suman shift to her bed, Suman said, "Tu hai na toh mujhe koi tension nahi hai tu khana toh ekdum top class banati hai yeh bhi mast banayegi, itna achha khana to mai bhi nahi banati", to which Raavi smiled and said, "Bas bas kaki aap sojao fir kal hume patang bhi toh chagani hai" as she adjusted the pillow; she was about to leave when Suman stopped her and said "Voh Raavi beta, mujhe kuch kehna tha...", "haan kaki bolona, kuch chahiye aapko?" said Raavi, to which Suman nodded in no, she pulled her hand and made her sit on the edge, and coninued, "Voh mujhe maaf karde maine voh tere sath maine kaafi bura kiya hai, hosakte mujhe maaf kardena plej", she joined her hands as her eyes grew teary, Raavi held her hands and said, "Arre arre kaki kya aap bhi purani baaton ke lekar baith gaye, chodon in sab ko aur khul ke enjoy karo, aur maine kabhi aapka bura maana hi nahi, aap ma ho na, aur ma toh kabhi galat nahi hosakti na toh aap na ekdum bindas hoke mast sojao" she said with teary eyes and a big smile, Suman wiped her tears and asked, "toh tu mujhe kaki kyu bulati hai?Ma kyu nahi bulati?", too which Raavi chuckled as she stood up and left saying, "Goodnight ma".
Shiva entered the house, he had went to stick posters everywhere, seeing him enter the kitchen, Raavi poured last two cups of tea, she initiated the conversation saying, "Shiva voh tu soya nahi haina toh tere sar mein dard hojayega toh tu yeh chai pile" and handed him the cup of tea, he sipped the tea and asked, "Mai to abhi aaya, tune toh chai kabse banai hogi na toh tune sabke sath kyu nahi pi?", she stole the glance as she turned to the kitchen slab and said, "voh..voh maine socha ke tu akele chai piyega kesa lagega isiliye", he smiled and replied, "dobi ki dobi rahegi", he went near her held her hand and took her in aangan on the swing, she said, "Shiva tu yeh kya kar raha hai tujhe pata hai na sab banana baaki hai kab hoga time bhi bohot kam bacha hai agar kuch gadbad hogai toh?...mfbddffskssk..." , he put his palm on her mouth and replied, "shhh kitna bolti hai, voh all india radio bhi tujhse kam bajta hai jab dekho chappad chappad,chup chap baith ke chai pi fir hum dono milke banate hai", sheremoved his hand from her mouth and chuckled, she continued, "tu banayega?" and clapped while laughing, he pulled her hand and said, "haan banaunga aur tu kya daant faad rahi hai tujhe koi dikkat hai agar mai meri biwi ko madat karu?", her heart skipped a beat when he said 'meri biwi', she realised that they were just inch away and he was gazing her lips, she pulled her hand back and said, "nahi mujhe kya dikkat hogi" and sipped her tea ad rushed to kitchen.Shiva followed her to the kitchen she told her what he can do and he obeyed, she glanced him in awe while she worked on her stuff.
The undhiyu and chutney was done, they were remaining with jalebis, he helped her mix the batter while she checked the consistency of sugar syrup, he was watching her curiously as she filled the batter in piping bag, she saw him gazing her with curiousity all in amazement, she knew he wanted to try making it but he would fear to ask, so instead she offered him, which he grabbed happily like a little child, he started making jalebis but the shape was not as jalebis and they were some random shapes, she chuckled as she saw him struggling with it, she fried it and added it in the sugar syrup.She was adding new jalebis to fried and he wanted to see so he went behind her and peeped in merely inch beside her from behind, a cold shiver ran down her body as she felt his warm breathe near him, she shivered, after adding all she took a jalebi from the syrup and turned behind facing him, she took her hand to his mouth and fed him jalebi, she raised her eyebrows and asked, "kaisi hai?", to which he replied, "Tere jaisi", she was about to turn back when he made her eat the same jalebi, she pecked his nose and asked him to arrange the boxes for the next day.
As they were done, she went to the room and sat on the edge of the bed, he went and massaged her shoulders and she fell asleep sitting there, he made her sleep properly, tucked a starnd of hair and pecked her cheek which made her smile in sleep, as if she recognised his touch, even sub-conciously.He slept beside her holding his waist from behind.
p.s.- undhiyu, is a gujarati dish,basically mix vegetables which has seasonal winter veggies, eaten with jhini seva, green chutney,puri and jalebis.In gujarat, its relished on makar sankranti/uttrayan.
