Krish ran out before the ceiling collapsed. His head was throbbing from being injured by the fallen piece of debris. Luckily it wasn’t anything serious.
He was about to call Shiva & Raavi Bhabhi’s name when he saw them.
“Bhabhi,” Krish felt a scream rip from his throat as he ran up to them.
“Shiva, kya hua bhabhi ko?” Krish felt his heart stop. Shiva laid Raavi on the ground and started to rub her hands and feet in an attempt to revive her.
“Shiva...” Krish was close to tears.
Suddenly he heard footsteps behind him and saw Dev running up to them. Krish felt slight anger at the fact that Dev ran before everyone and didn’t even look back once.
“Kya hua Raavi ko?” Shiva didn’t answer. Instead he focused on reviving Raavi. His hands were shaking slightly.
Krish took in the sight before him feeling a bit shocked and confused. Of course he knew his brother would never walk away from an injured person and plus this was Raavi, the girl they grew up with. But his could sense an entirely different sort of panic wreaking havoc inside his brother at the moment. He didn’t show it but it was so clear.
There is no way they are in love. As much he teases them, he knows it’s just too early. This marriage was not a love marriage and not even one between friends. So what is it? It was definitely more than mere concern. Shiva claims to hate Raavi but anyone can see that is far from the truth.
“Aye Chipkali... uth na!” Shiva’s voice cracked a bit at the end.
“Raavi, utho.” Dev gently called and Shiva got up.
“Paani laana hoga. Main jaata hoon.”
“Shiva tu wapas andar kaise ja sakhta hain! It’s too dangerous!! Hum driver ko bulate hain. Ek minute.”
Dev tried to call but wasn’t able to get through. He finally got connected.
“What?” Dev cut the call angrily after a quick call.
“Anita ko mandir jaana tha tho woh driver ke saath chali gayi. Maine bhi apne driver ko haveli bhej diya. Waise the driver said he’ll be here after dropping Anita.”
“Tab tak bahut der ho jayegi.” Shiva took one last look at Raavi and ran back inside, grabbing the fallen kalash on the way.
Krish watched in awe. Shiva ran as if his life depended on it. His brother didn’t even think twice before going back inside. He didn’t miss the unshed years in Shiva’s eyes as he looked at Raavi. There is certainly more to this than meets the eye.
Krish walked over and took Raavi’s hand. “Please uth jao bhabhi. Trust me, I have so much gossip to share with you.”
Dev sighed and sat on her other side.
“Raavi?” He called gently. Krish kept praying for Raavi to wake up.
Krish got up and tried to see if Shiva returned. He took a step forward when he heard a cough.
“Bhabhi!” Krish turned and saw her stir a bit.
“Raavi?” Raavi opened her eyes and saw Dev looking concerned. He held her hand and aided her in sitting up. She kept coughing. Krish felt a strange discomfort watching the entire situation. Hurry up Shiva, he thought. He could see Shiva a small distance away from them.
“Tum theek ho?” Raavi gave Dev an uncomfortable smile and looked around.
“Shiva aa raha hain.” Krish said with a smile but Raavi had an expression on her face that was hard to read.
Shiva finally reached them, out of breath but upon seeing Raavi, a sense of relief from washed over his face. However, it didn’t last long. His eyes looked past Raavi at Dev who let go of Raavi’s hand. A strange look appeared on his face for a split second but it was gone just as quick.
“Tu—“ But before his could finish, Raavi spoke.
“Tune phirse aisa kiya Shiva?” Raavi spoke weakly and kept coughing.
A pained expression crossed Shiva’s face which was quickly masked by indifference followed by anger.
“Kya kiya Shiva ne?” Dev asked. Raavi didn’t answer.
“Khair abhi ke liye woh sab chodho. Raavi tum behosh ho gayi thi. Tumhe araam karna chahiye. Driver aata hi hoga, chalo sab chalte hain.”
Krish wanted to facepalm. Dev didn’t open his mouth when he needs to and when he shouldn’t be saying a word, he has so much to say! Can’t he read the room... well khandaar?!
Raavi ignored Dev and walked up to Shiva.
“Kahaan gaya tu.” Krish looked at Shiva only to see his hands were empty. He saw the kalash out of the corner of his eyes, a few feet away from them. Krish had no idea what was going on.
Shiva didn’t answer so Raavi asked again.
“Dev ne kahaan na, chal.”
“Shiva, tu aisa kaise kar sakhta hain.” Raavi’s eyes filled with tears and disbelief.
Shiva started to walk away. Raavi took a step forward and nearly fell. Shiva immediately turned around and reached out but she moved away.
Dev looked at them utterly confused but Krish had seen enough.
He took Raavi’s hands. “Bhabhi- Shiva aapke liye paani laane gaya tha!” This earned him a death glare from Shiva but he ignored it. “Aap behosh ho gayi thi. Aur—“
Shiva started to walk away and Raavi had angry tears streaming down her cheek. Suddenly an idea clicked.
Krish walked up and picked up the kalash . “Aye Shiva, tu kuch bhi theek se nahin kar sakhta. Yeh kalash khaali kyun hain?”
“Aye Gadhera, andaar itna damage hua ke paani tak pauch ne ka rasta tak nahin mila.” Shiva replied almost immediately and didn’t even realize what he said. Krish smiled triumphantly and Raavi looked shocked. If only she knew how worried her Bhoothnath was for her. “Inhone aap ko bachaya... ekdum Salman Khan ki tarah.”
Raavi looked at Shiva in awe. A small smile finally appeared on her lips. Krish winked and walked away, forcing a clueless Dev to walk ahead with him. Raavi stumbled walking up to Shiva but he instinctively caught her and lifted her onto his arms. This time she didn’t protest. She slowly circled her arms around his neck and buried her face in his shoulder. He didn’t say a word but he held her as close as he could.
Krish smiled. The journey has just begun. And these two have a long way to go.
