After Kathir, Jeeva is a strong, wholesome character in PS, so I really hope Dev shows some growth and likeable qualities too

Thank you! Pandian stores is the only tamizh show that I have watched in 20 years since I moved out of India. Luckily my husband got hotstar for IPL few years ago and it is been on yearly subscription since then. I am glad the show got recognition to be made into hindi pan Indian show.

Though Mullai and Kathir brought many viewers and fans to this show, coming to Jeeva and Meena as well, their chemistry is good as well. I agree with you, Jeeva is a stong wholesome character as well.

Do you know if this show is being made in other regional versions as I have few friends from other states who have mentioned about it? Is Jeeva's character toned down in those versions? Hope the writers here watch the original and bring out a character growth in both Dev and Rishita. As much as I like Shiva and Raavi and Dhara and Gautam, this is a family show about all the brothers, their trials and tribulations. So I want Dev and Rishita to be shown well like the other pairs too.

Wow, lovely analysis. Welcome to the forum, hope you will stick around. I think the fun has just started. I have seen the posts and discussion increasing tremendously in last month. So, hope we all are in for a long run🙂🙂I hope this show gets more successful in coming months.

Thank you! I am excited for this show as well. If they show some of the tracks from the original (not all as some tracks were boring there as well) would be very interesting to watch. The writers of this show have a template to choose from, they can take what they want and add their own creativity I like the past few episodes. But I want the characters to remain the same as in original with fresh tadka.

It’s finally picking up with more people joining the discussions.
Haven’t watched the original so can’t compare, however, just like the rest, I’m disappointed in Dev.
With each passing episode, I swear I like him even less.
Looking forward to to more discussions.

Thank you! I am glad the forum is picking up and as I said this show deserves all the love and more and more fans. As for Dev and Rishita, if the CVs blindly follow the original, you can see their character growth and dimensions. At this point Shiva and Dev need to talk, period. I am keeping my fingers crossed for that.

Wahi toh nahi ho raha!! Conversation!! It’s so important for them to talk, address the elephant in the room, Dev!!

Question, did the original have Raavi misunderstand Shiva? I’m curious to see how it was tackled.

I feel Dhanam is a little more dominating than Dhara. With all the sacrifices that she made for the brothers, I know that she has the rights to but at times it did feel like she was being too sensitive.

I think her character is modified to suit the actress who is doing great with her role. The Tamil one does have quite a few confrontations with Meena but it will be no match to Suman’s portrayal.

Dev definitely is very different from Jeeva, no guilt, no apologies. Does not even try to explain things to Rishitha. It’s hard to imagine Jeeva and Kathir having a fight but I think Dev and Shiva’s relationship dynamics are slightly different. Jeeva and Meena share a great chemistry, I love how he turns her complaints to light hearted banters.

Meena is definitely grey but with time she definitely has started respecting them and understanding them better. Some of her grievances are in fact valid. I wish Rishitha’s character had that comic touch too, it really makes Meena more likable and relatable.

I think Shiva’s character has been changed to get the ITV hate marriage chemistry mostly.

They definitely turn out to be the best😊

Even there Kannan is closer to Kathir but in a slightly different way though. I really enjoy his bond with both his sisters-in-law.

I think this relationship is better in this version.

True that, Jeeva in fact does not even consummate his relationship till Kathir and Mulla start going closer.

All actors apart from Akshay and Simran seem to be doing a fabulous job. From what we have seen so far, these two have to improve.

The forum definitely has a lot of activity going on with a lot of ATs and fanfics. I am sure it will keep climbing the ladder with time.

Thanks for the wonderful post!

I agree with you, Pandian Stores is a positive show in tamizh, still continues to be and I wish the same for this version also. It is very rare to get such shows in Hindi or even in regional. My last tamizh shows were from the 90s when KB used to direct shows for the various cable channels back then.

Agree with you Dhanam is dominating and but we haven't see Dhara's full picture yet in front of the girls. I hope they continue keep her like this and not be a dominating figure as she is just a saas and not a Maha saas.

Suman is something else but deep down in her heart she loves Dhara and Raavi as well. I am thinking she might have confrontations with Rishita if they follow the original.

As much as you route for Kathir, you would like to root for Jeeva as well and the characterization is very strong. I want to see the same bond that Jeeva and Kathir have, here as well. Jeeva with Meena definitely have that chemistry, as you said I sometime root for Meena as her grievances are valid. It is not too late for writers here to turn Dev and Rishita around. Keeping my fingers crossed.

I understood why they modified Shiva's character but the insults and fights are more public than what I would like.

Mullai and Kathir are love, so are Raavi and Shiva.

Agree on the part that Kannan is close to Kathir and I want the same here as well, Shiva and Krish will make a great time and I am already starting to enjoy their partnership.

See if you show such sensitiveness from Dev's side towards Shiva, this will be liked by the TRP audience as well as fans like us.

Maami and Shiva's confrontation works because both are vocal and openly hate each other.

Akshay and Simran can definitely improve and do a good job if they get good guidance from the writers and the director. Again and again I am being vocal about their characterization and dimension.

Looking forward to more fun filled and interesting tracks.

Yes, PS has been remade in about 6 languages at least I believe. I only briefly watched parts of the telugu version and the 2nd brother there is very similar to the original jeeva and not like this dev. They seem to have made a good amount of changes in the hindi version to his character and it isn't appealing so far..

I don't know much about the other versions though!

Though I am primarily a KM/ShiVi fan I do enjoy jeeva-meena too, so hoping to be able to do that here as well!

Yes, she did but slowly started realizing that things were not under his control and he did what he was supposed to do for his family's reputation and his bhabi. You know what Jeeva (Dev's character) apologizes right after the wedding for putting his brother through this misery. It was the accident caused by Janardhan (here it is shown as kidnapping) Raavi's character slowly beings to understand things and the taunts Shiva's character gets from Maami (Raavi's character's mother in the original)and Anitha adds to it. Since Shiva in the original is not as vocal as Shiva here and keeps everything to himself, Raavi's character strongly defends him against her own mother and Anitha's character.

Hmmm. Why would the writers do that? There is so much potential for that character than standing around and making sad/grumpy faces and taunting Shiva.

I also wish Shiva would not interfere in Rishita’s matters just like Kathir and ignore her.

But Dev definitely needs to talk to Shiva first and with Raavi and apologize to both of them.

Lovely analysis.

I am also a fan of PS. The only tamizh serial I watch regularly. The main reason is the positivity in the show. We can watch it and feel good. No stress. Love the way the makers have kept the show interesting, relatable and stress free till now.

Agree with your points regarding characters.

My thoughts:

1. Dhanam is a bit more sensitive and possesive in tamizh PS. She makes many mistakes because of that. I have got irritated with her sometimes when she is overbearing. This makes her a real character. Here till now we haven't seen Dhara make any mistakes. Hope they show that side of Dhara also.

2. Love the original Jeeva-Meena pair. Many times I sympathize with Meena as her points are valid. I am unable to sympathize with Rishita mainly because of the timing of her complaints. And the way she says it. This couple is very realistic and flawed in tamizh version. Hope they show the same here.

3. Agree that Dev needs to have a talk with both Shiva and Raavi. He seems to be living in this dream world where he thinks he did nothing wrong which was not the case in the tamizh version. That made all the difference in his character.

4. Love ShiVi. I loved Kathir-Mulla too. Waiting to see their story unfold. Hope they stop the manhandling.

Yes, we're all waiting for dev to show some sensitivity! Right now he's behaving like nothing has happened 😕

He definitely needs to feel guilty and apologize
