Lovely analysis.

I am also a fan of PS. The only tamizh serial I watch regularly. The main reason is the positivity in the show. We can watch it and feel good. No stress. Love the way the makers have kept the show interesting, relatable and stress free till now.

Agree with your points regarding characters.

My thoughts:

1. Dhanam is a bit more sensitive and possesive in tamizh PS. She makes many mistakes because of that. I have got irritated with her sometimes when she is overbearing. This makes her a real character. Here till now we haven't seen Dhara make any mistakes. Hope they show that side of Dhara also.

2. Love the original Jeeva-Meena pair. Many times I sympathize with Meena as her points are valid. I am unable to sympathize with Rishita mainly because of the timing of her complaints. And the way she says it. This couple is very realistic and flawed in tamizh version. Hope they show the same here.

3. Agree that Dev needs to have a talk with both Shiva and Raavi. He seems to be living in this dream world where he thinks he did nothing wrong which was not the case in the tamizh version. That made all the difference in his character.

4. Love ShiVi. I loved Kathir-Mulla too. Waiting to see their story unfold. Hope they stop the manhandling.

Thank you for a lovely post. I can't believe that I have come across few Pandian Stores fans here who are eagerly looking forward to this journey a well. Also I have just started reading the FF, SS, OS, TS and drabbles and came across couple of your pieces too. You write so very well. I am looking forward to reading more of your stories.

Yes, PS has been remade in about 6 languages at least I believe. I only briefly watched parts of the telugu version and the 2nd brother there is very similar to the original jeeva and not like this dev. They seem to have made a good amount of changes in the hindi version to his character and it isn't appealing so far..

I don't know much about the other versions though!

Though I am primarily a KM/ShiVi fan I do enjoy jeeva-meena too, so hoping to be able to do that here as well!

The Malayalam version is so far completely following the Tamil one. Hari(Jeeva) and Aparna(Meena) are exactly like in the original. Kannada I don’t follow regularly but although the character of Jeeva was just like original, the character of Meena was more negative and the plot also looked different with them being kicked out of the house by Janardhan’s character over a loan not being repaid and living in some temple premises.

Oh okay. Yes, kannada was pretty different in between. Even in telugu they diverged by having meena have an abortion/miscarriage and mullai get pregnant (I think she has given birth now?)

Meena is pretty negative in the telugu one as well

I did not know Telugu was so different. I knew that Sujitha(Dhanam) stars in both, I watched a few tracks like their honeymoon track which I felt was similar. Good that the Tamil one is still going strong without any negative twists.
