I am definitely interested in the changes they've made for Dev. You're right, in the original version, he was a lot more upfront about his desires for his marriage. He didn't try to cut loose, and instead, tried his best to resolve whatever miscommunication was caused by him, like apologize to Shiva. Even the way he handled his wife, I felt, was done more beautifully. They spoke about their expectations, and despite Rishita not feeling happy, she knew that's what Dev wanted for the moment (and it wasn't as if Dev loved her any less).
I'm thinking they changed his character here because he's supposed to be some 21-23 year old boy. Somewhat immature, deep in love, and definitely still a child at heart (especially with his brothers). Even Rishita to me is the same. They didn't really face much trials and tribulations as a couple, so I think they never had the chance to mature. The one really serious event they had to face was the idea of not being able to get married. But, in the end of the day, they were able to marry.
ShiVi and GauRa are different in that they've had to sacrifice some aspect of their future when they married. For GauRa, it was the potential of changing their friendship into a relationship. Navigating their new life with responsibilities (especially at a young age). For ShiVi, it was marrying a partner that they did not for themselves + going through heart break/almost suicide on the day of the wedding.
I definitely think the DevTa maturity track is coming in the near future. They can't (as much as I want to) keep focusing in on ShiVi on GauRa. And they can't keep showing mindless DevTa romance scenes. I'm thinking once they return to Somnath, Janardhan will return and cause tensions in their lives. Or, Rishita will finally have to face the responsibilities of being a daughter-in-law (cooking, taking care of the household/store work, giving Dhara a helping her, making sure not just her husband, but his whole family is safe and protected).
