How do you explain a character who's basic strength and basic weakness is only and only LOVE? A simple boy who resembles the life of any common and young boy hailing from a lower middle class background. Being the son a government job holder, Farhad as the middle child of the family has always been under the wings of his older brother and strict father. He had the burden to impress his father by being the son who would somehow end up with a decent job, while his mother was his shield in his not so well-disciplined but yet happy life. Farhad lovingly known as Feedi in the locales of Lahore, does not only dream to achieve something extraordinarily big in his career but also blindly trusts the fact that people are always good, and it does not take much but to be good and honest to win someone's affection. Unlike how anyone would believe, being the 'khota sikka' of his 'well educated' family, Farhad indeed has a dominating aura in his personality, his smile reflects the innate innocence he carries and he never fails to win people's attention with his vibrant and genuine actions. If given a choice between jumping off a cliff or sitting for an exam, without a second thought the man would go ahead with the former😆.

What happens when someone like him meets his object of affection? What happens when in an event of what was supposed to be a 7 day paid assignment for him, turns out to be a life changing experience for him? What happens if a woman of high class, power, extra ordinary beauty and intelligence chooses Farhad to be her 'silly' partner in crime and ends up being his biggest desire and reason for existence? Having a beautiful neighbor already weaken at her for him, Farhad chooses to fall in love with Mahi, not because she is class apart and beyond his sane reach but because in a world full of 'fake friends', she made him feel that he was important and paid attention because of his work ethic, his kindness and simply because she considered him to be someone equivalent and good enough to be her friend. Her friendship infected him with the kind of hopeless love which he could proudly wear as his identity and for which he would risk everything in is capacity. The character's biggest strength is that his love is only love, it does not come with any prohibitions or inhibitions, he does not let anything in his existence to come in between the affection he has for Mahi, all his desires, and all his efforts end up being a desperate choice to win Mahi's love back. What gave him the courage and heart to pursue Mahi was, his immovable faith that his love for her is strong enough to get a reciprocation, he had already visualized the unsaid and hidden emotions in his lady's gestures, whenever she used to look at him, he used to feel important, he used to feel desired, he used to feel that his world is complete.

Farhad is not the hero that every girl would want, but he definitely is the man whom anyone would find hard not to desire. From being completely smitten at his innate charm, to a point of making physical advances to him, he had seen women doing it all to win him, but how can you win someone who has already been battling with between his instincts and his delusions? How can someone win him when he is being suffocated in an one-sided case of helpless love, but he still had the faith that his affections was powerful enough to do and win the impossible? Till date, Farhad's biggest qualities have been the way he has always put everyone above himself, be it rejecting Sajal's advances with dignity and grace, or by risking his life for his master Nazim Shah, or even by being the only one to make Dilawar feel like a brother, also by being the man who could see Romana's plight, and putting her above her work, her background and ensuring her that she deserves everything she wants from life, she deserves to win her love, she deserves to have her prayers being heard.

Is there anyone who can abandon everything for a woman who never reciprocated his feelings back? How does anyone unlove a person who has compared his feelings and emotions to be merely worthy of money, power and status? How does anyone unlove a person who has not only mocked his intelligence but the fact that he has even dared to dream that someone as common and as simple as him would be the desire of someone who is no less than a princess, who's societal status is unattainable and whose family name and aura goes beyond generation? I guess the answer is that you can either bury that person's existence in your heart and move on, or else drown yourself into the greatest affection which you've ever felt. Being a man with no purpose suddenly, found a purpose in his lady love, her rejection led him to lose his innate kindness and her humiliation shunned into a mad world of solitude and darkness. He turned into a bitter soul, who was not only scared to claim his identity but who lost all the worldly desires to live life beyond his affection for Mahi. He chose to never forget her and let her go from his existence and die with her and only her love forever in his identity. He believes his destination and the reason of his existence was to love Mahi and die in her love, but he is yet to discover that God has made wiser plans for him, he is the chosen one to heal Mahi's tragic of a life, free her from the clutches of sorrow and societal norms and give her a hope, a hope to start a fresh and a hope to have a new and colorful journey. Farhad may not be the man whom Mahi has ever desired, but he will be the man whom Mahi will always keep in her heart as the only and only man to ever love her beyond his own existence, the only man to put her above his identity, worship her blindly and the only man who can happily die for her. His guilt of curisng the woman he has loved so much, has altered the bitterness of not being worthy enough for her, but does he ever regret of falling in love with Mahi? No, indeed his love for her is still his biggest strength and the drive for him to forget everything but only live for healing her miserable life, his love for her is his pride and he will always put her above his everything, she is his mohabbat and she will be the reason he will bow down to his Khuda.

Mahi

Hailing from a completely contrast and highly unattainable background from Farhad, Mahi is the princess of the ever mighty peer family, where her father's power and wealth has no limits and her brother's reputation and hold has no competition. Being highly educated, with dreams of being free, self dependent and having a perfect life, Mahi has a simple outlook towards life, her biggest priority is her family and father's love and reputation and her only desire is to live a simpler life than the royalty she has always experienced, to have a more common and regular lifestyle fulfilled with love, education and happiness.

Mahi as a character is more realistic and practical, she does not dream of having a prince charming who would put his world upside down for her, nor does she expects herself to experience through a process of falling in love. Her desires are deeply rooted from her upbringing into a more conservative and male dominated background. Even though Mahi herself does not believe in certain norms of her high class society, she silently follows and maintains every norm strictly as she has immense respect and love for her family. What happens when a girl like Mahi becomes the object of affection and a question of life and death for someone who is not only incapable to match her family status, but who also happened to be a working help at her friend's wedding? How do you deal with the guilt of leading an innocent on to believe in something which never was merely true? How do you stop someone from affecting you even after you have claimed that you do not have any affection for him, even after you are engaged to a suitor who is equivalent to you in both power and status? Farhad came to Mahi's life as a lightning, he not only jolted her whole life into a saga of love but made her question her own basic desires. He not only made her realize that she could bury her desires and self worth for her family status, but he also made her realize that she is not only desirable because of her class and power, but because of her identity as the innocent and kind girl whom Farhad thought was different and completely incomparable with any other girl from her surrounding.

What happens, when the man who claims to love you beyond life and death ends up cursing you to be unhappy so that you realize the extent of how much suffering a heart break can cause? What happens, when you have hidden affection for the same man which you choose not to acknowledge, but you die every moment with the guilt of wronging him and with the memories of the way he had risked everything for you? What happens when you lose your husband on the night of your wedding, but still fail to mourn him with full loyalty because your entire mind and heart is only and only occupied with the suffering and tragedy of the very first man who had claimed to love you? Mahi being the emotionally stronger character, never claimed to love Farhad, but is it possible for any woman to even even feel an ounce of affection or love for the man who made her question her own actions, her own morals and her own fate? Being a widow to Taimoor and still being helpless but mourn Farhad's loss, is that only guilt? Not being able to think about anything else but Farhad and his unconditional love while getting married, is that only guilt and nothing more than that? I guess, a woman's mind is complex, and when she loves someone it becomes beyond passion and devotion, Mahi may not have loved Farhad the way he has loved her, but the strength of her character is that she acknowledges his suffering, his blind desire for her, she considers it to be unfair that someone could love her this passionately that he brought himself into a tragedy, she wants to move on from all her sorrows but even after constant trying, she is unable to forget the way Farhad has loved her, the way his love has cursed her, the way she lost all her happiness but still is unable to decipher that why is he so important and why is he the only important man in her life.

Love is an emotion, one cannot choose to fall in love with the right person, but it happens with whom it is supposed to happen, Mahi in her right mind never considered Farhad to be worthy of her love, but deep down she knew and she always acknowledged that the way Farhad loved her, she would have weakened in his love had she given the freedom to make a choice for her own, had she been the same Mahi who had befriended him without any inhibitions in her mind, had she been the same Mahi whom Farhad thought was different from every other woman on earth, and every other woman he would ever meet. It is impossible for Mahi to not love her Farhad, her love has burnt his world, and his suffering has broken the shackles of power and wealth, and unleashed the plethora of emotions in Mahi's sanity which Mahi has never felt for anyone. It is tragic that Mahi fell in love with the man who has fallen out of love with himself, but she knows that he is only hers, and will only remain hers.

We have the highest rated OST in the history of Pakistani dramas, the song, the lyrics, my leads, and Rahat Fateh Ali Khan along with the brilliant editing team, KUDOS. we are at 130 million with the song, and Farhad's shadeed mohabbat would not be shadeed enough had we not have the song from his character's point of view. 1.4 million likes just for the eternal beauty of the song and the way our beautiful and ever so talented leads brought everything alive onscreen.

Is there anyone who can love someone so much that he can abandon everything by losing her and the only precious thing which he wears around his neck as an amulet is his beloved's lost earring bead? Is there anyone who loved someone so much, that he is so bitter with the humiliation and the rejection which he faced, but he still wants to feel connected and worship the existence of his woman by wearing her earring bead as his tanweez? I do not know if such men exist, but in the fictitious world Farhad does, and Mahi is his tanweez, who spun his life like a black magic, stirred his soul with immense love and passion and reduced his heart to a very small place where only she can reside.

'Rog mera badhta jaye, koi toh sambhale na'

This line itself describes the tragedy of Farhad's ishq, it is not even love, he is infected with the aura and existence of Mahi and he cannot help and undo the suffering because he fell in love with a woman who is attainable for him, but whom he cannot win because of the societal norms. He is someone who has no idea on how to deal with the suffering and thus he begs for a slight and even a mild healing to all this.

'Karu sajda ek khuda ko, parhu kalma ya mai dua du'

This line that already has a history of belonging to the prequels, but it hits differently here, because it is Mahi who is reciting these, whether she loves Farhad or not, she acknowledges that even if he bows down to sajda, or even if he recites a kalma, she is the only one whom he desired from his Khuda and that is why she is his Khuda and she is his Mohabbat. She will always acknowledge him as the first and the only man to have loved her beyond his sanity, beyond his morals, beyond his threshold, his love for her was such that she could not save herself from being colored by his tragedy, she could not love him back, but all her colors and all her miseries were only because she could not see him suffer beyond his tolerance.

Episode 1: Effortless and entertaining, introduction of the lead pair Farhad and Mahi and their very different outlook towards life.

Episode 17: Farhad meets Romana on the way to Multan, where Farhad is trying to hide from the world. Romana, has an instant connect with Farhad's devastated state and feels that he is a pure and innocent man.

Episode 21: Farhad-Romana meet in the shrine, Romana requests him to pray for her so that she can win her love Sikandar. Farhad assures her that he is not eligible and capable much to pray for anyone, but he will still do it for her.

Episode 26: Mahi's iddat is over, in a shocking turn of events she sees Farhad in the shrine while donating charity to homeless people, she faints immediately.

Episode 27: Farhad is stunned and shaken to see Mahi and goes back to trauma. Coincidentally, he delivers the tanweez and water sent by the Fakeer baba from the shrine, during which he and Mahi seen each other again. Mahi breaks down thinking Farhad has abandoned everything for her sake.

Episode 28: Farhad learns about Taimoor's death and thinks his curse has led to Mahi's grief, he questions the Fakeer baba about everything and is unable to deal with the reality now. He decides to leave Multan out of fear of facing Mahi again.

Episode 29: Farhad requests Fakeer baba to let him go, which is not heard. Mahi meets Farhad in the shrine and requests him to move on, Farhad regrets his curse and confesses that his love is his only need and he cannot move on. Mahi blackmails him emotionally to leave, after which she starts realizing that it is nothing but her love for Farhad that has made her mourn all this time.

I fell in love with Farhad after this scene, the way he was so delicate and subtle with her, understanding her state and trying not to demean or hurt her. He knew how hurtful it is if you love someone and you don’t get their love back, but he ensured she deserved better than him as she was a very wise girl.

Just imagine Mahi ever learning this and reflecting on how beautiful Farhad is from inside, she would’ve fallen for him that moment only, I don’t know what’s the point of all these good deeds if Mahi never had to know these or feel for him, I hate this writer so effing much
