Also the standard of Bollywood movies has dropped so much over the years that I wouldn't want the actors that contribute to the high quality of Pakistani dramas to have to degrade themselves to working in movies that have absolutely no storyline.

And I think a lot of people are comparing Fawad's future to the past Pakistani celebrities in Bollywood - the most recent example being Ali Zafar whose choice in movies has not been that great, to say the least.

Exactly. He did TBL which was great. Then MBKD which was decent. After that it was all down hill. I wish he'd just make more music because that is something he's really good at.

Numm is crap. ZGH was decent but his character was just Ashar mark 2. Ashk was terrible. Khoobsurat - even if it turns out to be a decent film, all Fawad will be doing is playing another version of Ashar, yet again.

I think he's overrated. His only good projects so far have been Dastaan and Humsafar. He hasn't shown any versatility, any commendable acting skills. He's average. He could be brilliant if he actually bothered to choose quality roles, but he's not.

My problem with him isn't that he's doing a Indian film, it's that he's doing a film which will have him playing yet another broody romantic hero, who ultimately plays second fiddle to the female lead. It's boring and repetitive and just reaffirms my belief that he's a very average actor, whose comfortable fitting a stereotype.

If he did a film (Indian/Pakistani- whatever) or a serial that has a strong script, and has him playing a character with some substance, I'd look forward to it. But he's not so I just think this whole thing, like most of his other projects is stupid.

It's nothing to do with him doing an Indian film, it's to do with him doing crap projects. When Ali Zafar signed on for Tere Bin Laden I was supporting him because it was an excellent project, when he did Chashme Badoor I stopped supporting him because he started choosing stupid films.


On a side note, it really annoys me when Pakistani actors harp on about how they never want to do Indian films, and then do Indian films. Come on guys have some dignity, keep your mouths zipped on this matter because if your concerned enough to talk about the possibility of Indian films it's pretty likely you want to and will do an Indian film (I'm thinking of people like Ahsan Khan, Fawad Khan, etc.).

your last para is so true. i think fawad also made big statements about giving his country priority, which is fine. but he said it in a way like he thought nothing of bw. also his comment about kareena being most over rated - he might be feeling uncomfortable about saying that now.

about him doing a romantic heros role in bw, i think it is a better and safer debut for him here, in bw. the industry is so large, that he might make a mark with it for better offers in future.

bw has the largest no. of flops in the world lol. so naturally the no. of bad movies exceeds the good ones. it has also always maintained this ratio. :D but i have to say that compared to the no. of good pak dramas i have watched, the no. of bad ones are also much more. so i wouldn't accept a generalized statement of low bw standard and high quality pak dramas. also the media cannot be compared.

i know that bw is far more permissive in issues pertaining to clothes, drinking, dancing and lots of other rubbish, - much more than what it is accepted in day to day in our indian society and life, so maybe that is something that bothers you all, that fawad will do things acceptable in bw.

bw is so large that there is something for everyone. we have a very big population who will love hw kind of action, but won't understand those movies. when we make our movies it is primarily for our home consumption and viewing. for people to get hw like thrills in bw movies. so its not that we're trying to be like hw. for people like me in cities, i can go watch a hw flick when i want, and i will enjoy and understand, bw is for everyone in india, in every corner -city or town or village. be it an engl speaking person or not. the audience is available, and the makers go for it. never mind if it is pure rubbish. :D
