Thanks for the link, Madhu.
And for the summary of info too.

I have to fully rely on threads like this for Madras shopping info. Don't have any other source.

But I vaguely remember my friend telling me, that when she went to India, she picked up a lot of Indian clothes for the kids from Pothy's.

Oh .. no, I forgot to check this thread last week as I was so busy! Thanks Madhu for providing us the old link (on Chennai Shopping....)

LIke Jenim, I too rely on all these information you are all providing here as I have no idea on this stuff.

Jenim, yes I too heard from my friends that at Pothy's you get nice Kids outfits for moderate price. Also I think she mentioned a shop named, 'Madharsha'? Will check with her again and let you know.

We planned to go to India in March and finally ended up booking tickets for Summer. Tickets are so pricey during summer - There's a huge difference in what you pay between May and June/July/Aug. I don't know which part of Amreeka you live, but I got an email from Air India that they currently have a special for travel until May 15th, round trip $599 from NY/NJ to any city in India. The problem is b'cos of school, most of us can't make use of that offer. I can't believe I paid three times that for travelling in Summer. 😭

Exactly in the first week of Sep, when schools open, the ticket prices drop. Romba aniyaayam. Hope you've booked yours already..

Sorry Jenim, Inaikkuthan intha thread check pannen. Office work irukura busy-la oru varama India trip pathi maranthe poitten!

Same here Jenim, We too are going to India in Summer for the first time. All our previous trips we made during Nov/Dec. But this time we had to pick June, as my daughter is in School now!

As per the ticket price, What I have noticed is, It doesn't matter whether you plan ahead and buy it a while ago Jenim... it's the time when you are planning to make your trip is what matters.... We got our tickets purchased back in March itself, but since it's the Peak-season, we paid around the same price of what you had mentioned, $1750+ per head! 😭 ...

These Airlines are so smart and they know the right time to hike the price and make more money from us! In addition to this shocking price, I'm really worried about the weather at Chennai right now... My Dad said that the 'kathri veyil' is frying everyone so badly... Being born and brought up there I guess we will be OK, but I'm worried about my kids!! 😭 Plus, it won;t be possible for us to roam around and do a lot of shopping which I don't do properly anyway...even if it's some cold/ mild weather... 😆 😃 Hopefully in one month the summer power will calm down a bit!! 😊
