Giriadimai -
Thanks for the Ellu Saadham recipe. This makes me reminiscent of the Shraddham days, when this is almost always made.

(As I'm writing this, I believe this got left out from recipe index)

When I posted my previous message, I didn't know which page the Ellu rice (Sesame/Til Rice) was in. I just remembered reading about it when I was skimming posts and that's why I was looking for it in the index, so I can go back to it. And it wasn't there..

Anyway, now I went back and found it out. Yes Atina, it is very hard to find a recipe somewhere buried in the middle of all this deliciousness. But I remembered it was somewhere after the picture of the Carrot cake, so your index helped in guessing the page range (45th page upwards). Thanks!
And finally I found it Voila!... in Pg.56.

Caryn, your chillie crab recipe is really mouth watering. I too make this but I add a little egg instead of cornstarch to thicken the sauce. Like you said they are excellent with bread.

Thanks again,
Pat

Caryn it's better to know to cook a recipe in different ways. We can change a little here and there and bring out different recipes. Good Caryn, let me try your mother's version.Sure ada kick pa.

Yes, Kavi. Though it was surprising that the nasi lemak was cooked with fenugreek. I have eaten malay style, chinese style, sarawakian style and indian style. They are all similar, so seeing fenugreek in the rice was surprising. So it is something to try, the next time we cook. 😊 Oh btw, my mum also tried with lemon grass just like Atina, and also with cinnamon and star anise. 😃 But it tasted like pulao rice instead of nasi lemak.

Pat/Kavitha,

I tried that layered cake ( can't remember the name u gave) it comes out very well in pressure cooker 😊 . Since it was the first time, I tried only 4 layers instead of 8 layers u had shown in ur picture - this reminds me of the thengai pooranam kuzhakattai we make - ingredients more or less same ( coconut milk replaced by coconut grate; sugar with jaggery; no corn though)

I agree with you Pat....my mouth is still watering as I am writing this mail. Caryn has made me more hungry this last couple of days - wish I could stretch out hand pick the crabs out of my screen..😭.

Toasted French loaf with garlic butter and her wonderful Chillie Crabs...👍🏼....yes.. egg does give a nice flavour to the sauce.- what is life without good food..!!...😍
