Wow, Caryn! What a list of various rasams you shared with us here. 😊
Reading about the chest cold cure, I wanted to try making the Crab Rasam. I have never cooked Crab in my entire life, but had tasted it couple of times at a relatives house and it was very tasty! So you have any tips for me, the first time cooking Crab tips?!!

Basically, What kind of Crabs I should look for while purchasing? How to clean them OR can I get it cleaned at the Store itself? I live in US and please share any tips you may have...

I really wanted to try this out as my child is having a very bad chest congestion & cough for nearly a month now... So I thought when I saw this home remedy why shouldn't I try this out.

Supree, when I buy crabs, I would normally buy them when there is full moon. This is because they have more meat in them during time. The crabs to choose would be female - the one when you turn the shell has a broad ridge at the back where you can peel. The male has a sharp ridge at the back. Also flower crabs are easy to clean and cook because of their soft shells. The hard shell crab is quite difficult to clean.

This is just my opinion and experience, don't know about others.

Let me try it.

Rhodes thanks for the feed back.
About the layer cake, I am not sure if it will come alright in a pressure cooker.
Let me get back my camera, i will show you simple steps on how to steam. No need for a steamer.

Thanks Pat for the tips in buying crabs.
I will post a super recipe for crabs.

Thanks Supree for the recipe.
