Here's some more qns Karthi...😆 For a few days it has been quiet here 😭
What was your favourite past Tamil serial (excluding Vani Rani)?

What do you do when you are sad to cheer yourself up?

If you had three wishes, what would you wish for? (No wishing for more wishes 😆)

Sorry da thamby, been busy with work.
What was your favourite past Tamil serial (excluding Vani Rani)?

Chitty. To be honest, cant remember watching any serial right to the end except Chitty.

What do you do when you are sad to cheer yourself up?

Shop. Listen to music, watch a happy movie and have a glass or two of wine/

If you had three wishes, what would you wish for? (No wishing for more wishes 😆

Aww, dang!! I was hoping for that.

1. To exploit my writing talents and be the next JK Rowling.
2. To excel at cooking to th extent that I become the best chef in the world. Clients will be falling over backwards to please me. I will cook only three meals a week and charge anything between 250 000 to 500 000. USD.
3. To marry George Clooney. 🤣

Don't worry Karthi, we haven't forgotten you... 😆
Aww, shucks. 😆

Ok, I've been wondering this for quite some time now so if you don't want to share you can ignore but I want to know the reason behind your current signature?
I am willing to share, Shathir.

I have always been critical of Tamil serials which put down women and show women in a bad light. We have been discussing this matter since I joined IF. I do a lot of social work with impoverished and uneducated Indian women and I know how they think. Many of them seriously think that the serials are true and real. Hence my concern and anger at some of the cheap directors with cheap mentality. I was not alone. In fact I remember we in IF even organised an online petition to Tamil serial directors. In this regard, of all the evening serials, Deivamagal to me was the worst culprit and the sickest of the serials that I have ever come across. It had sick plots. The very first episode made me 🤢 when the principal of the finishing school in her speech on graduation day says that they have trained the girls to be good wives and mothers. This is not why girls go to finishing school. In an era where we want young women to be brave and independent, here is a serial advocating that the role of a woman is at home and in the kitchen. I strongly believe in choice. If a woman chooses to be a housewife and mother, that is HER choice and I respect that. But to perpetuate this idea that a woman should be at home doing all those things when we have lawyers, scientists, writers, astronauts, bus drivers - and I am talking about Tamil Nadu here - was to me sending the wrong message to young girls and even their parents. Why couldnt she say that the finishing school's aim is to train young girls to be independent, courageous, all rounded individuals who can make their mark in any field they choose, whether as a professional or in the corporate world or at home, wherever they choose to be and whatever they choose to do?

Sexual harrassment was another issue that was used as an entertaining plot. This was done by the hero. Tell me, if someone says (and it is the hero here) says "Urukai mathiri udumbu todallama" to the heroine when he and his friends are ordering alcohol, would anyone keep quiet? I would have slapped his face...even if DM shows this plot, why couldnt they deal with it in an inoffensive manner and show some action being taken? Instead of the hero saying this, they could have had another character saying it and the hero slapping him. Sexual harassment at the workplace is a serious issue. I know there are people who think I am taking this seriously, Damn straight I am!! All this was happening around the time of the Delhi Rape, the rapes and murders of the three young sisters and other inexplicable crimes of violence against women and young girls. The hero tries to rape the heroine, for God's sake. She saves his life and everything is okay. What about the attempted rape? Someone said to me it shows that the hero is not perfect - what???? So it is okay to sexually harass and attempt to rape a woman? Those are imperfections??

There were so many sickening plots (believe me, there were quite a few..aunt wishing that her niece would get raped so that she can throw the family out of the house 🤢) and I voiced my surprise at how popular it was and that people were so excited about it, even here in IF to the extent that they had newsletter and writing fanfic (I had you in mind actually 😆) and then added LOL after that. to show I was joking. In what way was that offensive? I also asked people to discuss why they found DM fascinating. In fact when someone posted why they liked VR, I said I wanted to know why DM was so popular instead of VR. I also had messages saying that they agreed with me.

Instead of taking part in a healthy argument, there were clicks on the report button and complaints were sent to the VBs. I am a person who has been exposed to many different forums. When I was a member of a Liverpool forum, someone called me a brown noser. Which as you know is offensive. I complained to the Admin. Everyone turned on me, including my friends. Ratting to the admin is not on. You talk it out and debate like adults...you don't act as a schoolchild and run to the headmaster. I was hauled up and at that time I wanted to quit IF. In fact I came back to IF because TMS was ending and DM was starting. I did not even watch VR...I was watching DM more. When all this chaos were taking place, I wanted to leave. I mean, seriously, I have a very busy life...I am doing so many things, some of which will have significant effect on my country. When I found out about all this, I just saw red.I don't need this. I was going to post my reviews elsewhere and get you all to read them...but I have good friends who wanted me to stay on for them. So I changed my mind.

No one bothered to bring it up with me. I would have respected them more if they chose to discuss or argue or even tell me that I was wrong to write those two sentences. I spent early hours in the morning typing that opinion...because of two sentences, the whole thread was locked. But I did have the last say in that thread for which I am gloatingly grateful. 😉

How long will it take me to click on Report button on some of the posts here in IF? I don't. I ignore them. Everyone is entitled to their opinion no matter how obnoxious, silly or baseless they are. 😉 That is my opinion. 😆

Hence my signature. 😃

How fitting you used 'Lady Anfield' 😆

Thank you for acknowledging that I am a ⭐️..oh thamby, I do love you. 😃

Are you surprised that Liverpool are currently second?

We are at the top of the table, son, top of the table. Nothing about Liverpool surprises me. It is about time we get back what was rightfully ours.

Where do you think they'll finish this year?

Unless something goes disastrously wrong Top 4 and Champions League. This is the best showing thus far. Usually at Christmas time we would be languishing in the middle of the table or worse.

I agree with all your points. I feel so frustrated when a serial starts with a situation that is a big problem or something wrong for the society and advertise it as a good thing as they ellaborate it on it and offer no solution. 😡 A serial that comes to my mind right now is Ponnoonjal. I watched the first episode and half of second episode. It started off showing female infanticide. I thought strangely that the idiotic storywriters will make the mother run away with the female chile, single-handedly rise the child up with some help from people she knows obviously and have her in a position to make the father feel that he has missed an opportunity. I know that this is very difficult but not impossible. It would offer moral support for all the single mothers about their future, no? Instead they kill off the baby in the first episode 😡 and the mother in the second. 🤢 That's me done.
I didn't want to talk about the event directly but I hope you got an idea of which side I lie. 😉

I feel so angry when someone tells me a past event where they have been racially abused. 😡 (just to make it clear, angry at the person that is being racist). I also hate people who value a man and a man differently, I can't digest the fact that some husbands actually feel that their wives are servants for them and that they are the leader/king of the pride just because they are male. 🤢 There are plenty of other topics that are being shown wrongly. You left out the other major aspect of Tamil serials - polygamy. Surprisingly, it hasn't happened in Deivamagal but the other Kumaran's serial, Thendral was full of it. 🤢 I find it striking that they are allowed to portray illegal activities on screen. 😲 We know it's not really happening but what's the guarantee that everyone knows this???
I appreciate the talents of the actors and actresses and sometimes the plot. I tend to look on the positive side of serials by hoping for a better episode tomorrow. 😆 By the way, that FanFic was done out of desperation more than anything because I was properly annoyed with DM that time. 😛 I have ideas but I don't like putting them on paper 😆 because it's really time-consuming for me.

Oh Ponoonjal...let me not get started on that one. I caught one episode by chance and I cringed big time. The MIL (as usual; the only decent MIL I have seen thus far is Sura) opens the DIL's cupboard and tries to take her jewellery. The DIL suspects her. Son comes home, MIL straightaway pattu vakiran. Slaps his heavily pregnant wife, holds her head and rams it against the pillar, until she bled. 😡

She calls her sister, who comes to the house. MIL overhears the conversation, tries to slap DIL and hand gets stopped by sister. Son comes back, they both take the wife back to the parents' house and says they are returning the daughter as aagathu. Tells the father the whole story (according to them). DIL keeps quiet. The evil duo then go on about the second daughter and demands an apology. Heroine of course refuses, father slaps her and she apologises. MIL gloating.

Tell me, is this the fate of women to get hit by men whether husbands or fathers? Why couldn't the father say that this is unacceptable behaviour and I am going to lodge a police report against you both for domestic violence? how refreshing that would have been.

Shathir, even you disagree with me on many issues, I would welcome healthy discussions. Deivamagal again. Husband decides to assert himself and treats wife with contempt - which woman would threaten to lodge a police report against her own husband for an internal family matter? Wife sees her control slipping, slips in a drug into his drink and has her way with him that night. 🤢 🤢 It is bloody marital rape!! 😡 😡 But for Kumaran, it is entertainment - and this is enjoyed by hundreds and thousands of people.

Sometimes I forget that you are merely 16. 😆

An assistant director from VR asked me what is it I want to see in VR. I said

No bigamy, polygamy (just discovered that M.R. Radha had 5 wives. 😲 Not at the same time, I hope. 😆

No suicide - but they had with Shenba.

No domestic violence.

So let's see.

I'm sure that there will be issues which we will disagree on but as of yet I don't have strong opinions on many things. 😛

WHAT??? Shocked M.R Radha is Raadhika's father???
Is that why Radha Ravi is like a step-brother to Raadhika or something?
What message is Shenba's suicide conveying to an average person? I have a message that someone can take from her story, and it's not good. So, let's see if there are any other messages???
