Pallavi Subhash
The latest entrant to the Ekta Kapoor camp might look like a young, innocent girl — which she is — but beneath that innocence, lies a mature, confident interior. Say hello to Pallavi Subhash, who will soon be seen in Star Plus' Karam Apnaa Apnaa. This girl sets her own parameters and knows where to draw the line when it comes to that.
Pallavi isn't new to the camera. In fact, she's a popular Marathi actor. "I've acted in a number of Marathi films, commercials and have done theatre too," she informs. So what is she doing in the big bad world of Hindi soaps? "Well, I had acted in the serial Tumhari Disha and got noticed by Ektaji. I had left some pictures at their production house and they called me to play the lead role of Gauri in Karam Apnaa Apnaa. Pallavi says that she identifies completely with the character of Gauri. "She's a really simple middle class girl from Kolkata who loves her family. The entire look — cotton kurtas, flat chappals, open straight hair — it's totally me!" she adds. Pallavi shares a good chemistry with Sumit Sachdev, her co-actor in the serial. "I didn't know how we would get along but now, I'm really comfortable with him," she says.
But how comfortable is she enacting bedroom scenes, since that's where television seems to be heading now? "I don't have a problem doing bedroom scenes, but it depends on the situation and the character," says Pallavi. The actor adds that even during these scenes, there are certain movements and dialogues to pay attention to, so the actors pay attention to only that aspect. "As an actor, it's my duty to do what is expected from me," she adds.
So is Bollywood the next step? "At the moment, my full focus is on television. But if I'm offered a good role in a film, then I would love to do it. Even if that means doing three scenes in good film, I wouldn't hesitate," says this spunky girl. Looks like she has her head firmly on her shoulders!
