It claims to be the country's biggest opinion poll on the Hindi film industry. Stars are voted not just for one film or one performance in a year, but the winner is the one who rules the hearts of the public. And all the action unfolds on the small screen.
Sabsey Favourite Kaun? on Star Gold once again features Arshad Warsi as the anchor for the second year.
He will appear in several avatars — Circuit, the biggest bhai of Mumbai, Devdas, the eternal lover from Kolkata, Tara Singh, the truck driver, Yusuf bhai aka Jumman Miya and Dhrandhar Bhataodekar, from the interiors of Maharashtra, among other get ups.
Everyday, at 8 pm, Arshad will share with viewers little known facts about stars that have been nominated in various categories. This will be followed by a film of the star at 8.30 pm on Star Gold.
Says Warsi, "This is just a one-off TV assignment. Acting is something I do every day, but anchoring is something I do occasionally, so there is still that element of fear."
Sabsey Favorite Kaun kicks of this Sunday with Rakshanda Khan hosting the curtain raiser. The one-hour special feature will present the best of last year's performances and flag off the opinion poll of 2005.
The categories this year are favourite hero, heroine, comic hero, naya hero, nayi heroine.
On the film front, Warsi has David Dhawan's Maine Pyar Kyun Kiya and Kabir Kaushik's Sehar among others.
