Karthik was sitting alone in a corner table kept aloof from the party area...he was trying to do the reality check of his deeds..

He couldn't even believe what a mess he had created..

How could I? Am I that desperate..? he has started thinking very low of him..

Actually he hadn't any such intentions to get intimate with her..he just wanted to bring her out of her aloofness and reserved nature...

That was his only intention while he had brought her to the dance floor...but the romantic aura of the place..her closeness and the hidden feelings he had for her totally over took him..and what had happened then was totally out of his control..

Basically he is a calm and composed person doesn't tent to lose his senses that easily, but being around her ...he often loses his control over his emotions..but he thought, what he did today was the height of his stupidity..it couldn't be justified...

How I am going to face her..?what she would be thinking of me..a jerk?a freak...?

However he tried hard he couldn't recollect the whole thing happened on the dance floor..

Everything seemed like a dream to him..he heartily wished the events happened between them should be a mere dream...

But his fate laughed at him in the form of Vishnu as if mocking at his absurd thought..

He came out of his trance with the loud laughing sound of Vishnu..Vishnu, sitting beside him and laughed uncontrollably..which raises his temper...

"Dai Vishnu..sirikaadha daa,naan sema gaandula iruken..." Karthik said in irritation.

"Nee yen daa gaanudula irukka..?unnoda romantic performance ah paartha naan dhaandaa gaandula iruken..."he sighed dramatically..

"What a performance..!!!!!What a classical performance machi...!!!!Machaan indha chemistry ,physics laam naan subject la dhaan daa paarthiruken..but ippa dhaan daa live aa paarkaren...yennaa chemistry..yennaa physic su..."

Karthik starred at him..

"Moraikaadha daa...panradhellaam pannitu,nee moraikavera seiriyaa?"

"Adheppadi daa naanum oru varushamaa...yennenamo try panren..kaiya pudikara scene kooda varamaatengudhu..aanaa vandhu oru maasam kooda aagalai.. adhukkulla unakku katti pudikara scene yellaam varudhu..."Vishnu was stomach burning...

"Vaaya moodudaa Vishnu...asingamaa pesaadha.."he warned him..

"Yen vaaya moodalaam machaan..aanaa oor vaaya mooda mudiyumaa?"he pointed towards their surrounding...

Karthik looked around him..

It seemed everybody around him were watching him only.. .some people were laughing..some were talking very seriously with a knowing nod...they might be indulged in their own personal talks..but he had an illusion that all were gossiping about him." he shook his head to come out that illusion.

"Dai..yellaarum yennai pathi yenna daa nenaichirupaanga..."he looked more anxious now..

"Yaaru... suthi ninnu vedikkai paarthangale avangalaa?avangalaam free aa oru romantic dance paartha sandhoshathula irupaanga daa..."Vishnu said teasingly...

"Dai avangala kekala...avanga yenna nenaichaa yenakku yenna?mathavanga laam yenna nenaichirupaanga..?"Karthik repeated the same question..

"Nee yaara kekkura machi..namma team mates ah pathi kekuriyaa?

Machaan nee aadi mudicha udane whistle satham pattaya kelapuche..adhu yaarunnu nenaicha..naanga dhaanda... Naanga laam semaiyaa enjoy panninom...but except one...chumaa yedherchaiyaa thirumbi indha pakkamaa paarthaa..angel nikuraa.. machaan ava kaadhula irundhu pugaiyaa kelambuchinaa paaren ...Aanaa... ava yenna nenaichaannu dhaan daa theriyala...naan venaa kettu sollavaa?"Vishnu asked in very serious tone and laughed seeing Karthik's glare...

"Aanaa onnudaa Koushik mattum inikku vandhirundhaan..vairu yerinji ae... sethu poiirupaan..."he said and laughed in his trademark style..

"Dai loosu... naan Raji yenna nenaichirupaannu ketten daa..un mara mandaila yedhaavdhu yerudhaa?"

He shouted at him in frustration..

"Ohhh..Raji dhaan unnoda "yellaarumaa...? Sollave illai..."Vishnu teased and then continued..

"Raji idhula nenaikaradhukku yenna daa irukku...?avangalum dhaan unnoda serndhu aadinaanga..."Vishnu said very casually..

"Illai daa ava yenna thappaa nenaichirundhaannaa?"he revealed his inner fear..

"Dai..nee pannadhu thappunnaa.. appo avanga pannadhum thappu dhaane...Free aa vidu machaan paarthukalaam..."Vishnu tried to convince him...

But karthik was worried..he was fearing that whether he had destroyed the budding relationship between them by his stupidity...

She had splashed the cold water on her face very hard..to erase the thoughts running in her mind...when she closed her eyes his face so close to her appeared in front of her... which was creating havoc inside her..she still could feel his touch lingering all around her...which ignites her whole body even now..she couldn't came out his thoughts...his strong grip on her hands reddened that place..she kept her both hands under the tap and forced the water to wash away the feel of his touch...but her efforts only made it even redder...

"I can't blame him fully for what were all happened..if he was at fault then I am also having an equal share.."

That was the reason she was more annoyed..she hated herself for letting loose her restrictions...

She splashed more water as if the memories also would wash away with the water...

As she came out the wash room...she had encountered with a stranger girl...

She greeted Raji..

"Hey,super aa aadineenga ,..neengalum unaga boy friend um..awesome chemistry between u two...chance ae illai..."she praised her in an excited voice...and went on and on..

Raji couldn't react ..actually she doesn't know how to react to that situation..it was supposed to be a compliment to her and she should feel happy ..but the terms..boyfriend,chemistry were frightening her...

She excused herself and came out literally running from there..

Raji was sitting alone in the beach looking at the direction of the ocean like she was searching something in that darkness...the sound of the waves hits her eardrums hard..

Her heart beat matches the roaring sound of the waves...she couldn't understand what happen to her..she was taken aback by the way she get along with him throughout the dance..she didn't felt any shame or repulsion to dance with him...that too when the whole crowd watching them in awe...

Actually she was attracted towards him like a moth towards light..

"Naan yen ippadi aanen,I doesn't even know anything about him ,he was almost a stranger to me,as I barely knew him for few weeks...had it been a stranger she would have slapped him..but she didn't do that to karthik..what is so special about him or what makes him stands unique from others..?"

She has no answers ...

"Where have gone my restrictions..my values and virtue in which i have been brought up?

Am I letting him to break the wall which I had built around me?"

The more she thought of that incident the more she got confused..

Mean time Lakshmi came searching for her...

"Hey Raji inga yenna panra?naan unnai yengalaam theduradhu..? sari...vaa polaam.."

"Yenga.."she asked in confusion...

"Hey veetukku dhaandi..yen unakku innum dance aadanumaa..?"Lakshmi teased her first but she stopped in the mid by seeing the anguish in Raji's face..

She know that Raji was regretting ,so she doesn't want to embarrass her even more

So she let it go...

Raji was very much ashamed to face everybody...

Didn't know what Lakshmi had told to everyone, none spoke about that incident in front of Raji...surprisingly Vishnu also maintained silence..

She was avoiding the eye contact with everyone especially with him...

Every one left in Vishnu's car,leaving behind Karthik and Raji alone...

She knew she has to go with him...

He had brought his bike besides her and waited for her to sit..

Though she was not willing ..she knew it would be ridiculous if she refused to go with him..

She half heartedly she sat behind him...

The drive was silent...none was speaking..but on the contradictory their heart spoke a lot...

This awkwardness prevails between them was very new...both of them didn't know...how to break this barrier had been created between them...

This time karthik was driving very carefully as to not putting any sudden brake...he was driving in safe speed even though the whole road was empty..

Their first closeness after that dance has brought back the memories to them which they wanted to forget..

Raji was in her own world didn't even realized the bike had been stopped..she came out of her trance with a sudden jerk by hearing his voice...

"Raji ,yerangu..."

Then only she noticed the surroundings..it was not their apartment ...he had stopped the bike few meters prior to their apartment...

"Why he had stopped here ?ippo inga irundhu nadandhu poga solla poraana?" she was trying to figure out the reason for his action...

She got down from the bike...and looked at him questioningly..

He gestured her to come with him..she followed him reluctantly...

As he entered the ice cream parlour in which they were met for the first time...

She was even more confused ..

"Why he has brought me here and how come this shop remains opened till midnight..?"

Questions revolving in her mind ,but she has no answers for that..and also not ready to ask the person who is having all the answers...

She doesn't like all these drama..she wants to end it now...

"Yenna idhellaam..naan veetukku poren..."she turned to leave..

But his voice stopped her..

"Raji...ippo nee inga ukaaralainaa..naan un kaiya pudichi izhuthu okkaara vaipen...paravaallaiyaa?"

She was shocked hearing his words...

"I suppose u liked it in that way only..."he asked sarcastically...

She exhaled in frustration and sat on the chair he pulled out for her..

She doesn't want to take any chance as she knew he meant his each word...

She looked at him furiously..

He seemed unaffected by that look and gestured the shopkeeper to bring something..

The shop keeper had brought a box and placed it on the table..

Raji looked at the box and found that it was a cassata ice cream..

She was surprised...why he was doing all this...?

"Yennai samaadhaana paduthavaa?"she was totally confused...

"Romba yosika vendaam..its just an ice cream..Have it..."

He said as if he had read her confusion...

She was hesitating even then...

Karthik s anger was getting surfaced..

"Raji do u expects me to feed u?"he asked in ironic voice...

She glared at him for his words...He started to unpack the box without a word..

She was horrified "Ippa yenna panna poraan...?sonnaa maadhiriae ootti vida poraanaa..?"

As soon as the thought hits her ,she snatched the box immediately from him and opened it by herself...

She took the spoon from the holder and took the first scoop...and brought it near her mouth...and was astonished by the song played...

"Happy birthday to u...Happy birthday to u..."the song played from his mobile and he was singing along ..

She was stunned at first.. her eyes automatically looked the time in her watch..it was crossed 12... her eyes got moistened ..didn't know why but she felt elated..and also got very emotional..

He looked at her softly..and wished her "happy birthday.."

Her mouth was trembling even to say a word...she had not expected this..In fact she herself forgot her birthday..but he remembered it and wished at exactly on 12..was something very touching and soothing to her heart, especially in this state of her mind..Being remembered was the greatest thing in one's life..she was enjoying that moment now...

"Karthik...?"she called him all amazed..

"Podhum.feel pannadhu..ice cream melt aagaradhukulla ...saapidu..."he tried to lighten the mood with his casual talk...

She had eaten the first bit with utmost joy and satisfaction..

Probably this was the best birthday wish she had ever got...

He was watching her with adoring eyes...

"Unga oorla yellaam ippadi dhaan yedhir la irukavangala paarka vachittu saapiduveengalaa..?he asked dramatically with pouting lips...

She smiled at him..."Unakku venumnaa vera vaangiko naan thara maaten.."she denied childishly...

"Illai yenakku indha ice cream dhaan venum..."he was persistent...

And snatched the spoon from her to eat his share..

She denied "Naan yechi saapida maaten..."

"But naan saapiduvene.."he said adamantly and took his first scoop from the ice cream..she was very hesitant to share her ice cream as she never did that before..

But with him everything seemed so natural..she couldn't deny anything to him out rightly after what he had done for her happiness...

They relished the ice cream as well as the moment of togetherness in delight...

As they finished the ice cream all the awkwardness between them also seemed to come to an end. Everything become normal as before or they could say even better than before..

Suddenly his phone ringed and he went out to attend the call as the signal was weak inside the shop...

After he had left outside...the shopkeeper came to take the empty box..he gave a warm smile to her.. she also returned the smile...

Suddenly she remembered something and asked to him..."Indha nerathukku neenga yeppadi shop open panni vachirukenga?"

" Karthik Sir.. nethe vandhu sonnaaru ... inniku 12 manikku varuveengannu...ippo 10 manikku kooda phone panni confirm pannaaru..."

"Adheppadi naanga varaamle poi irundhaa..?indha oru ice cream business kaaga vaa neenga ivlo neram wait paneenga?"she asked in disbelief..

"Sir already 1000 ruppees advance kuduthu vachitaaru..

100rupees ice cream ku 1000 rupees kedaikkum podhu yaaraavadhu viduvaangalaa..?yenna oru 2 hours late aa shop ah close panna poren avlo dhaane" he replied with a smile of getting a lump sum..

Then he added..."Madam ,sir unga mela avlo piriyam vachirukaaru...neenga romba lucky madam.."he said with a shy smile and left..

Raji was astonished to know the truth...

He did all this for her only.."party la avan ice cream kudukaama ponadhu kooda ,ippadi oru surprise kudukka dhaanaa?10 maniku yellaroda busy aa irukkum bodhum ,avan phone panni solla marakalai..he considered my happiness was the first priority to him?but why,?"

Yaaru ivan.?yen idhellaam panraan..?Avanukku yennoda sandhosham yen mukkiyamaa irukku?what does I meant to him?he is making me weak...ippo ivanoda indha anbukku pazhagitaa..appuram adhu kedaikaadha podhu adhai naan yeppadi thaanguven?"

Why he is doing all these..what he is expecting from me in return..?

Whatever might be the reason..she was happy now..this happiness is real and that is enough for her...she doesn't want to complicate the things by thinking further...

She made up her mind to live in the present and not think about the past and the future..

She has decided to cherish this moment which is so real...she has not afford to lose this moment by dreading about the future...

She saw him approaching her with a smile..for the first time she looked at him in awe ..her heart was jumping in joy out of her control...

He raised his brows to ask her for a what ?

She nodded her head for a "NO"...with a blush on her cheeks...

He watched her keenly in surprise and then let go off it..

They walked quietly side by side ...as they reached their flat..Both looked at each other...

They waited for the other to initiate the conversation..

"Raji...adhu vandhu..."he started reluctantly...

"Karthik pls,ippo naan romba happy aa iruken..idha kedukara maadhiri naama vera yedhuvum pesa vendaame..."She requested him..

Karthik couldn't ask for more...

He accepted immediately and as friendly gesture he extended his hand to her...with a smile..

"Friends..."

She looked at him for an instance and put her hand on his for a firm hand shake..

"Friends..."

As she was turning towards her apartment he called her..

"Raji..."

She looked at him with questioning eyes..

He took out a small gift from his bag and give it to her,

She was pleasantly surprised yet again...

"Yaarudaa ivan?yennai ippadi asatharaan.."she thought in her mind...

She has accepted that gift with a smile..and thanked him with a sparkling eyes...

She came into her flat ...she was very curious to know what would be the gift ...she opened the gift with a throbbing heart..

But she was shocked to the core on seeing the gift...

She was stunned by his atrocity...

She screamed his name in frustration and sheer anger..."Karthik..."
