Raji was stunned by his sudden appearance and took a step back. She fixed her bag on her shoulder now.

"Thanks Raji for everything." Ashok said.

Raji wondered why he had said thanks.

"It's no problem, thank you for helping me. I'm going to leave now, I'll see you Monday." She said.

She stepped forward but Ashok blocked her way.

"You are a great member of this team Raji, I think very soon you will get good reviews and appreciation from everyone here. You're going home right, let me drop you off." He insisted.

Raji hesitated.

"No, it's okay Ashok, I'm going to take the bus." She said quickly.

"The bus? It's the weekend; it won't come as often, you have no choice but to come with me. Please it's a request."

Raji didn't know what to say, she didn't want to hurt Ashok at the same time she didn't want to go with him either. She gulped and said

"Ok...fine...let's go..."

Ashok's face was very happy; he had a big grin.

Finally. He thought.

Ashok took his keys from the pocket and led the way for Raji. Raji wasn't paying attention to him as she was too busy searching for Karthik but he was nowhere in sight.

An hour later Raji was in the basement of her house. She was helping her dad. Her dad and her were looking through old boxes in the basement and cleaning them out. She came across an old album with her family pictures.

"Appa, look what I found." She said.

"Ennama Raji, what is it?" Her father asked.

"Dad, it's my old album."

"Ada aamma Raji, it is. Let's take a look at it."

Raji pulled out a chair for her dad and both were sitting down looking through the album of pictures.

"You look just like your mother." Her dad told her looking at a picture of her when she was ten.

As they were looking at the pictures Raji started to tear up seeing her mother. Her dad noticed this.

"Enna maa."

"Illai pa, I miss mom so much."

"I know da, I miss her a lot also."

Raji hugged her dad.

"I love you pa."

Her dad hugged her back and stroked her hair.

"I love you kanna."

Ding dong!

The doorbell was ringing.

"Yaaru pa?" Raji wondered.

"It's probably Ram uncle, he said he needed to see me about some work related thing; I'll go talk to him."

"Seri pa."

Raji's father got off the chair and went upstairs. Meanwhile Raji was cleaning up the basement and organizing things.

She took a large duster and was dusting furniture and the bookshelves. She placed certain items in a box and tried to lift it up from the floor. No luck, the box was too heavy. She let out a breath and tried again but still was not able to lift it.

She heard a voice call out.

"Need a hand?"

Raji couldn't believe it. Why was he here? What did he say to her father? 😕😕😉
