Nisha's frowned as the morning sunlight hit her face. "Get up Nisha. Maa is going to spank me with a ruler if you don't get ready on time." Suku shook Nisha as if she was some machine to whip cream. "Suku just stop it let me sleep." Nisha shoved Suku's hand and pulled the blanket over her face. Suku landed on the floor with the sudden jerk. Cursing under his breath he tried to come up with some idea to get Nisha out of the bed. "Nisha get up fast Kabir is standing here" Suku screeched. In one swift movement Nisha was up and standing on the bed. Her eyes scanned the room for that familiar smirk but she could not find it. "He is not here. This was the only way to get you out of your beauty sleep. Maa knows I am the only one who could do this" Suku bragged at his achievement.

Nisha got down and smacked Suku hard on his head. "Why has Maa sent you here of all the people and where were you yesterday?" "Nishu I got late yesterday night so didn't want to disturb you and it's kind of a punishment to wake you up because I took Kabir's car yesterday. Maa said she would spank me with the ruler if I didn't obey her. Anyways it was a dead end for me either you would thrash me or she would I chose the former. Maa spanking me with a ruler would not look decent" Nisha chuckled at his response. "Now what?" Suku raised an eyebrow. "I was just imagining how it would be like, Maa running around you with a ruler" "ha ha ha ha ...Just get ready, Kabir is on his way with his Mom" Suku informed Nisha and left.
She found it strange that none of the cousins had come to see her this morning. "After last night itwas practically impossible that Dolly Di, Umesh Bhaiya or Kirti wouldn't come to support me today before I went down. Atleast Jwala and Bunty would be present out of curiosity. What made them stay away." She wondered. She reckoned a hot shower would ease out her tension. Reluctantly she made her way to the wash room.
Nisha was getting ready in her room. She had thrown in a pair of black jeans and a peach coloured tunic. She decided at least the casualness in her dressing would take away her anxiety. She stood in front of the mirror pensive about how she would handle the situation how everyone would react to her decision. She stared at herself in the mirror as if her reflection would start giving her answers and pacify her that her decision was right. "Any help required?" "Nisha flinched at the sudden voice. "Anything from you will help" Nisha said relieved to see her father. "Ready?" Ramesh asked her with watchful eyes. "I think so" Nisha replied confident that his father meant the mental part of Ready' and not the physical. She anticipated that Ramesh would ask her about her decision, she wanted to discuss it with him but she felt her father was in no mood to ask her about it. "Don't you want to know my decision?" Nisha asked Ramesh, her voice was growing edgy unable to bear Ramesh's silence. "No I don't. The decision is yours. You have always taken your own decisions and I have never questioned you about them, not because I didn't care or didn't want to interfere, because I knew you would take right decisions and if you took a wrong one I knew you had the courage to correct it. This time is no different." He pulled her closed and wrapped his arms around her. Nisha pulled back after a while and gave him a nervous smile. Ramesh pinched her cheeks and left. "I hope I don't disappoint you with my decision papa" she muttered looking at Ramesh's retreating figure.
Kabir had arrived with his mother and the brief introduction was already done. Lakshmi decided to take Vasundra Kumar for a tour around the house, till Nisha was ready for the meeting.
"Hello uncle" Kabir greeted Ramesh. "Hello Beta. How are you doing?" Ramesh tried to complete the formality before he went in for the big talk. "Absolutely fine uncle." Ramesh nodded. "Kabir I am aware of all that happened yesterday." Kabir stiffened besides Ramesh. He stared at him questioningly. "No beta Nisha didn't tell me anything" he assured him. "I know Uncle she wouldn't tell you anything she wouldn't want to worry you. Inspite of that how did you know?" "I am her father Kabir. I know everything, all that she wouldn't tell me, all that she wants to, but cannot tell me." Kabir smiled at Ramesh and shook his head. "Like Father, Like Daughter. Did you want to speak to me about something Uncle..." Kabir could see Ramesh flex his jaw muscles before speaking further. "Kabir ...Nisha is very different from the other girls. She may not be the girl whom every man would dream about, but she is not a girl you wouldn't like either. What I want to say is, she is difficult to understand, she may come across as a very difficult person but if you look carefully, she is loving and innocent like a kid. She loves with all her heart once she acknowledges her feelings for someone. I do not intend to influence your decision in anyway it's just a father's love for her daughter that wants you to know the real Nisha that hides behind the present one." Kabir just nodded and sat back on the sofa. Ramesh felt something amiss. His heart flipped at Kabir's response. Something is definitely wrong he thought.
Within few minutes Ramesh, Lakshmi and the cousins gathered in the living room. Kabir and Nisha sat across the centre table, all eyes fixed on them. "Ramesh and Lakshmi I would be happy to have Nisha as my daughter in law. I leave it to the kids to decide for themselves now." Ramesh straightened himself at the last part of Vasundara's answer. Ramesh was still not over Kabir's unusual behaviour. "You first" Kabir beckoned Nisha. Nisha flinched at Kabir's words. She always felt uncomfortable whenever he got serious about something. Nisha started to speak in a cautious tone "You are a very good person Kabir. I could not see the amazing human being that you are, behind that fun loving Kabir. I am sorry I tried every possible trick in the book so that you would turn me down. But you just refused to do that and chose to know me better, not only that you even helped my family members be it Papa, Suku or Dolly di. Trust me Kabir I would never be able to do that if I were in your shoes. You are a kind of person anyone would like to get married to. But do I wish to get married to you? No I don't!"
