And once again, awaiting your kind feedback n criticism!! I will be a lil busy this week, so dont mind if I dont immediately reply to your comments. Thank You so much for so much of love and making me feel like a part of this forum Cousins!! šš³
Part 2
Nisha woke up with a start, breathing heavily and sweating. This nightmare had been haunting her for quite a while now. She had fallen asleep at the window after tiring herself of thoughts, and someone had put a blanket on her. She was sure it must have been one of her family members who were used to having her fall asleep like this. No. This was not the same nightmare of her being molested as a 13 year old. That nightmare had slowly blurred out in her memories making room for another. This nightmare was of her waking up one day and finding Kabir gone. She would run through the whole house screaming out his name and no answer from him would come back. Instead, Viraj Sir would come out of his room and break the news to her that her Hubby had indeed left.
Then when she would go back to their room and rummage everything from the cupboards, to the bathroom with an air of disbelief to look for any signs of his presence, she would find a letter at their bedside for her citing:
"Heyy Wifey! So sorry for not waking you up, but you know I was supposed to leave today. It was on the calendar that we marked for the countdown too. I am not so good with goodbyes. Have never had to say one like this. Had a wonderful journey with you. Hope you always remember that any guy would consider everyday a dream if he gets to spend it with you, like I had told you before our marriage. Take Care. Keep in Touch. Hope you get a better guy than me who can make everyday beautiful for you. I will miss you, my Lady Dabangg, and also your sweet mohalle se bhi huge family. I know they are going to hate me for this, but at least you can be happy to finally get rid of a constant nuisance like me now. Keep Smiling, Keep Living, and Make Your Dreams Come True. Lots of Love, Your 'Duffer' Hubby, Kabir"
Then she would break down. Her world would have collapsed. When her family would demand an explanation, she would have to blabber that he just left without a warning. Like she had promised him to do. Her family would speak ill of him, which would piss her off coz she knew they had mutually made that 3 month contract. A mere mention of his name would have her defending him and leaving. She would never be able to trust anyone with herself again. She would continue to try to live in the other house solely because it held the precious memories they had shared in those 3 months. She wouldn't even be able to share this sorrow with anyone but Saurav who was the only one actually aware of this deal. And even her 'bestest' friend Saurav couldn't compensate for easing the pain that Kabir had left, burning brightly in her heart. She hated being so vulnerable, but she couldn't help it. When it came to people she deeply cared about, she got affected even by their slightest movements.
She snapped back to reality. She didn't know what she felt for him, but she surely did not want to lose a sweet friend like him... or wait...was he something more? She did not want to give much thought to that right now. An inner voice in her replied: But what now that he has got his first stipend, has been selected for London Dance School and since he has no other reason to wait back...what if he leaves earlier? He saw her only as a friend, nothing more. What if he thought the reason she was so disturbed was him and to ease her of the pain and dilemma he had left? She couldn't quiet her over hyper mind when it came to horrid thoughts like this. Not even a week of their marriage had passed and yet, this worry was badly killing her inside every single night.
She suddenly remembered he had said he is going to stay back too. Was he angry with her for not telling him what was bothering her? She needed to check. She was really horrified when she woke up in the middle of the night like this with no clue as to whether she was dreaming or it was reality. She went to her room and it was empty. She ran and checked in the whole house for his presence. All her cousins and family were peacefully sleeping in their rooms. But he was nowhere in sight. She had this sudden feeling of desolation. She had never felt like this before even when her nightmare submerged her rational thoughts earlier. Had he just left? But...that can't be. He had promised to stay here tonight. And he never broke promises. But then did she even know him well enough to decide that?
She started to freak out; tears welled up in her eyes, her heartbeat increased. This cannot be happening. She knew she always pushed people away but Kabir was not the type to not try to come back. He had irritated her so much on the trip just to get to know more about her even when she didn't reveal anything. When she went back near the window, to look outside, she saw a silhouette crouched on the ground. It was way too dark to make out who it was. She went and took the vase in her hand. Then she just decided to take a chance coz she had a feeling it could be...him. She switched on her lamp. It was very much Kabir. He was sitting with his head rested on his knees. He had long fallen asleep there.
So it was Kabir who had put the blanket on her. She was touched. When he said he wouldn't leave her alone, he literally meant it. He didn't need words to tell her that he doesn't break his promises. But he was still Katti with her. She decided since he was sleeping so soundly, she shouldn't wake him up. She somehow managed to help him up and drag him till her bed and put him on the bed. As she laid his head on the pillow, she saw he was smiling. Was he awake? Or did he just simply look like this every night? She had not bothered to notice him in this way before this. But even if he was fast asleep right now, something didn't feel quite right.
She just still couldn't push the insecurity of him leaving out of her mind. She had already thought of all the worst scenarios and she couldn't risk any of that actually happening. Then her Captain Jugaadu Mode hit her. There was a childish side to her that she had forgotten about when she had tried to become Miss Nisha. Now was the time to set herself free from that false image she had come to create. Just because she was married didn't mean she should change right? She had announced that to everyone at the Pagphera. And even he had said he likes her this way. So be it. She went to the attic and opened a cupboard, which smelled strongly of dust. She hadn't come here in 3 months now. She found all the things she used to prank her family with as a kid: There was a spray bottle, jack-in-the box, wood with wrappers that looked like chocolates and other such things. She was making too much of noise. What if someone woke up? *Shhh!* She reminded herself to be a little more discreet.
But she was running out of patience. Where was that she was looking for? Why was it that she never got what she wanted when she badly needed it? She closed her eyes and prayed to God that she could find that. She felt funny she was bothering God for such a stupid thing. But this was important to her. She felt like she was on some mission. As she brushed aside these thoughts and concentrated on looking for it, she saw it at the far end of the cupboard. She had to bend down and carefully remove it. It was the handcuffs that they used to play 'Chor-Police' as kids. They had annoyed all the parents so much with this that Rupan Taiji had hidden it in her and Mohan Chachu's room. But Nisha being Nisha had figured out the exact place and came and kept it in her special cupboard in the attic, to be used when the need arises. She needed it right now. This was THE moment for it to show its Jalwa. Nisha smiled thinking of the stuff she did along with her cousins as a kid. She was so super cool back then. Well, she was cool even now. And besides, living with a person like Kabira, you couldn't expect her to imbibe any 'maturity' traits, could you?
She locked the cupboard and silently went back to the room. She took his hand, put it in the handcuffs and tied it to hers. She fastened both the sides cautiously, so as to not cause any unnecessary chaos in the middle of the night. He stirred a little but didn't wake up. Then she sat down on the floor at the crook of the bed and went off to sleep just like that. She didn't need any blanket. She just needed to be comforted with the thought that he hadn't left her and disappeared into nothingness.
The alarm rang at 6.30 a.m. Kabir rubbed his eyes and felt something tight on his wrist. He went to shut the alarm and accidently hit Nisha straight in her face, coz she was sleeping there. She woke up with a start, gave a hurt expression and rubbed her nose, which was now red. He opened his eyes, seeing her so close to him, he got scared and screamed. She got even more annoyed and shut his mouth with her hand. Then he saw that her other hand was handcuffed with his and he started laughing. He couldn't understand why she would resort to this. And how had he landed up on her bed and her on the floor? Wasn't she by the window when he went off to sleep? Even though it was a warm night, she had been shivering and softly saying, "Tum kaha chale gaye ho? Tum aise kaise chale gaye? Ek baar bhi nahi socha mera kya hoga? Ek baar bhi ye jaanne ki koshish nahi ki mujhe kaise lagega?" He dint know why she was so scared, but his instinct told him something was definitely wrong because of the way she had been reacting when he had spoken to her. He thought of waking her up, but he thought that would make it worse, since she was not ready to confide in him. And another thing: He was *Katti* with her. If he woke her up, he would have to talk to her and that meant he lost to her. He got some water for her, and had her drink it. Then when she seemed a little at peace, he put a blanket on her.
He now gave her a bewildered expression to demand an explanation, then spoke.
Kabir: Main yaha kaise? Aur ye kya hai? * Motioning to his hand *
Nisha: Tum mujhpe pranks khelte ho na..to maine bhi try mar liya. Aur tum waha zameen pe soye hue the to mujhe pehle laga chor hai. Main wapas vase lekar aayi thi phir lights on kiye kyuki mujhe tu jaana pehchana laga. Jab dekha ki tu hi hai to socha ki koi aake mere Hubby ko aise dekhega to mujhe hi daat padegi isliye tujhe uthake bed pe patak diya.
Kabir: Thank God mujhe wapas nahi maara! Already kal enough chott lag chuki hai! Aur haan..tu puri pagal hai.
Nisha: Teri hi sangat ka asar hai. And btw tu kal raat mujhse katti hua tha na? Dekh..itni jaldi batti karwa di na..main to jeet gayi!! Yayyy!!
Kabir: *amused at her childishness* Acchaa..tune mujhse batti karwane ke liye mujhe handcuffs bandhe? Smart Move! Ab ye nikalegi? Ya family ke saamne aise hi jaana pasand karegi? Mujhe aise bhi jaane me koi problem nahi hai. Wo bas humare bare me tere Cousins wapas kuch ulta seedha sochenge š
Nisha: *makes a face then removes handcuffs * Tere saath aise pakdi jaye meri jutti!
Kabir: Mere liye exclusive lagti hai teri jutti! Chal ab ye nikaal, mujhe jaakar teri sweet family ko dikhana hai main kitna cool hoon!
Nisha: Tu kuch bhi karle, mere family ke liye tu mujhse cool nahi ho sakta, Hubby! š
Saying this, she removed the handcuffs and he went off downstairs to show what a good damaad he was. He had woken up so early just to impress them. Nisha looked at the open handcuffs, realized what she was upto the last night and smiled. She couldn't deny anymore what she felt for him and how frazy she could possibly act for his sake. His love had conquered.
