Chapter 11: Fairy-tale

Nisha's phone buzzed. She rubbed her eyes and picked up the phone

"Kya hai Saurav? It's just 7 in the morning, and not just any morning, it's Sunday morning, I was sleeeping!" Nisha complained still half asleep.

"Nisha jaldi se Velvet lounge pohoch, it's urgent" Saurav said and disconnected the call.

"But Saurav-" Nisha started. She was worried. She tried calling him back but his phone was switched off.

Nisha got ready hurriedly and left for the lounge on her scooty.

She reached the Velvet lounge, it was a beautiful open garden place. She had come here once a couple of years ago with her cousins and best friends. But at that time it was filled with people. But it was morning this time and who would come to a lounge this early. The place was completely deserted.

Nisha looked for Saurav. His phone was still coming switched off.

Nisha went inside, there was a gazebo in the centre which was beautifully decorated with sunflowers.

Nisha went inside and was mesmerized. The shining sun and the bloomed sunflowers made her feel so happy. She was basking in the glory of it all when she felt a tug on her shirt.

She looked down to see a little boy with a yellow rose and a note in his hand. Nisha bent down.

The boy gave her a little peck on her cheek, handed her the rose and the letter and ran away.

Nisha was surprised. She called after him but he didn't stop.

Nisha looked at the rose and then read the note:

"This is for always being there for me, having faith in me, and being a true friend, something I never had before you entered my life"

Nisha was at loss. She didn't know what was happening. Was she at some wrong place? All this was for some lucky girl, not for her, she just happened to be at the wrong place.

She kept the rose and card on the table and turned around to leave only to find a little girl standing there with a Red Rose and another note.

"Who is sending all this beta? Where did you come from?"

The girl just held out the rose and note innocently for Nisha to take. As soon as Nisha took it, the girl ran a few paces but before Nisha could call her she came back on her own. She signalled Nisha to bend down.

Nisha did so.

"I folgot this" said the little girl, she kissed Nisha on her cheek and then ran away.

Nisha laughed and shook her head.

She opened the note:

"This is for the rush I feel when I see you, for the warm happy feeling that was unknown to me before you cared for me, for the times I felt jealous on seeing you with someone else, and for the emptiness I feel even at the thought of not having you in my life"

Nisha looked at the red rose with a rueful smile. The girl for whoever this all was arranged was for sure blessed. Nisha didn't even dare to wish for something like this. This was all a confusion. She was so lost in her thoughts that she didn't hear the footsteps approaching her.

"And this is for the girl who has the purest and most beautiful heart, for the girl I love with all my heart and soul, the girl who is my life"

Nisha looked up to see Viraj holding out a White Rose to her, wearing that blue shirt that she had gifted him as Aarti.

Nisha couldn't process what was happening. Was this a dream?

She pinched herself. "Ouch"

Viraj smiled "I love you Nisha"

Nisha stood there speechless.

"I would understand if you don't feel the same way for me anymore, I would respect whatever decision you take... but I want you to know that you mean the world to me and I would love to spend the rest of my life with you doing everything I can to make you happy" confessed Viraj.

Nisha's eyes welled up with tears and she smiled.

"I love you, I never stopped loving you and never will" whispered Nisha.

Nisha collapsed in Viraj's arms. He hugged her tightly.

Viraj could feel all his wounds healing with her in his arms. He was beyond happy.
Till just a day ago he was in despair and felt all happiness was lost to him, and now in this perfect bliss he looked up to the sky filled with golden sunshine and mentally thanked God.

Nisha had never felt so alive and complete as she felt in his arms.
This had to be the best day of her life yet and she would never forget it.
Her most precious wish was granted by some miracle, she didn't even want to know how yet.
She just wanted to fully live these moments and feel happy being with him.

They heard a bickering and broke their embrace to see Kirti, Neil and Saurav fighting over what song to play. They were far so Nisha couldn't exactly catch what they were saying but by their demeanours it looked like Kirti's will had prevailed.

Nisha and Viraj looked at each other and laughed lightly. Viraj shrugged.

The music started playing... Nisha looked into Viraj's eyes and saw love and happiness there.

Every now and then the stars align
Boy and girl meet by the great design
Could it be that you and me are the lucky ones?
Everybody told me love was blind
Then I saw your face and you blew my mind
Finally, you and me are the lucky ones this time...

Yes, Nisha thought, she was the lucky one. She got her Prince Charming and had her perfect fairy-tale with her cousins and best friends being the angels in her life.
Viraj looked at Nisha and thought maybe it all was for the best, he now knew what losing her felt like and would make sure nothing like that ever really happened. He would always treasure her.

All the past pain and suffering was forgotten as they held each other close. They knew there would be ups and downs in life but as long as they had each other everything would be fine.
