hi mridula! 🤗 wow, thank you so so much for liking my story and getting hooked onto it! it was all you guys on the adda who motivated me to put up a FF! hahahahaha, i too wish things hadn't gone the way they had during kanpur! lots of twists and turns coming up, and a lot of scenes which are classic university student types, not the overly mature ones! hope you like them!

hey guys! as a diwali gift, i thought of posting up Chapter 1 today! Hope you all like it! do comment and let me know your views! Happy Diwali once again!

Chapter 1: The Bajpaayees' Decision

(Kanpur, Navya's tayaajee's house)

Tayeejee puttered around the kitchen mumbling to herself. Its not as if she wasn't busy with the wedding, and now her mother in law and her niece had come to stay there, adding on the work. She was wondering the reason behind sending Navya here, because she knew Navya didn't really like it here. She had full plans of exploiting the free labour she'd got. It was her son's wedding, and she wasn't going to let anything go wrong in it! That too she'd found such a good bride! Related to the Bajpaayees out of all the people! It was truly a source of honor for her and her family!

Navya walked into the kitchen in a daze because of the lack of sleep she got the previous night. She stumbled her way through the kitchen and lifted up the lids from the various pots and pans displayed, trying to see what was for breakfast. Tayeejee saw this and got miffed.

"Aree oh Mumbai ki chori! Yeh tera ghar nahi hai joh tu mooh uthaaye subah subah chali aayi! Ab aa hi gayi hai, toh table pe khana laga de. Plates us almari mein hain." said Tayeejee with a huff

Navya was visibly surprised at her aunt's tone, but without saying a word she did what her aunt told her to do, all the while thinking of Anant. Because of this, she landed up dropping a thali.

"Navya rani! Subah subah kyun itna shor machaye rahi ho? Humko upar pahunchaane ka iraada toh nahi hai? Kaam karna nahi aata, toh karti kyun ho? 19 saal ki ladki, aur theek se kaam karna nahi aata! Shaadi ke baad kya karegi sasuraal mein?" said Tayeejee in anger

Navya who was already upset started to cry. "Sorry Tayeejee, galti ho gayi. Agli baar se yeh nahi hoga."

"Ab rona band kar aur kaam kar!" replied Tayeejee in anger.

(Mumbai, Bajpaayee house)

Anant was sitting on the breakfast table and his mother was serving him food. He didn't seem to notice anything, and was staring at a fixed spot in his plate. Mohan, who was sitting next to him nudged him. Anant barely flinched, and began to play with his food. Nobody really noticed it till Rama exclaimed, "Debar jee! Aapne kuch khaya hi nahi! Koi pirablem hai kya?"

Anant was shaken out of his reverie with this comment and began to eat, albeit rather slowly. Baba looked at him in concern and beckoned Om and Bua Dadi to come and talk to him later. He realised it was probably time to begin to look for a suitable bride for Anant, as he felt Anant was getting influenced by the modern society a bit too much.

Anant finished what was on his plate and left the dining room. He then went up to his room, where he locked the door and opened his laptop, just to stare at pictures of him and Navya together.

At the same time, Om, Baba and Bua Dadi were in the next room, where Baba was expressing his views.

"Humein yeh lagta hai, ki ab humein Anant ke liye ladkiyaan dekhni shuru kar deni chahiye. College mein ab yeh uska aakhri varsh hai, jiske baad yeh Mohan ke saath kaarobaar mein haath bataayega. Jald se jald humein uske liye ek uchit kanya talaash karni chahiye"

"Lekin bhaisahaab, us sahaab zaade ko kaun samjhaayega? Pichli baar kaise usne shaadi ki baat taal di thi?"

"Anant meri baat nahi taalega. Tum bas kanya talaashnaa shuru kardo. Woh meri baat maanega. Waise bhi aaj kal who kuch khoya khoya sa hai. Kuch oonch neech hone se pehle, uska rishta tay karna hoga"

"Jaisa aap theek samjhe Babujee."

(Cafe Coffee Day, Rits, Appy and Ranbir having coffee together)

"Ranbir, mujhe Navya ki bahut tension ho rahi hai. Jis haalat mein woh hai, usne toh ro ro ke apna bura haal kar diya hoga!" exclaimed Ritika in worry.

"Haan toh isme kaunsi mushkil baat hai. Abhi Navya ko call karte hain!" replied Appy in a rather cheerful tone.

Ritika dialed Navya's number. Navya, who was in her room writing to Anant, picked up the call.

*PHONE CALL*

"Navya! Kaisi hai? Tu theek se toh pahunch gayi naa?"

"Of course theek se pahunch gayi Rits! Tu bhi kya bakwaas poochti hai! La de, main baat karti hoon."

"Rits, phone speaker pe hi laga do." replied Navya rather softly

*switches on the speaker*

"Kaisi hai Navya? Tu theek toh hai naa?" asked Rits concernedly

"Theek hoon. Yahaan pe kaam bahut hai, toh zyaada is sab ke baare mein sochne ka time nahi milta. Tum dono sunaao, kaise ho? Ranbir kaisa hai?"

"Ranbir theek hai, yaheen pe baitha hai! Tujhe wahaan pe koi tang toh nahi kar raha hai naa Navya?"

"Appy" exclaimed Rits, scandalised

"Nahi, main theek hoon. Ranbir?"

"Hey Navya, kaisi ho?"

"Ranbir, Anant kaisa hai? Us se tumhari baat hui?" asked Navya, hoping to hear some news about Anant.

"Nahi, kabse try kar raha hoon, lekin woh phone hi nahi utha raha hai. Kuch batana hai use?"

Navya paused for a while, thinking of everything she wanted to tell him. Wiping away tears, "Use kehna ki main use bahut miss kar rahi hoon, aur woh mere liye khush rahe. Aur guys, tum log mera ek kaam karoge?"

"Tere liye toh chaand bhi tod ke le aayenge, tu bata, kya kaam hai?" asked Appy, trying to cheer Navya up

"Bas, tum sab Anant ka khayal rakhna.Use khush rakhna, mere liye." says Navya, who then couldn't talk anymore because she started to cry.

Rits realised that Navya started crying, so she tried to comfort her. "Navya, don't worry, hum hain naa! Agar tujhe bhi koi problem hua, toh phone kar dena ok? Apna khayal rakh!"

*PHONE CALL ENDS*

Rits hugged Ranbir, and rested her head on his shoulder. Why did such a difficult situation have to come in the lives of her best friend, she didn't understand. She motioned to Ranbir and Appy, and they all got up with one mission in their head, to cheer up Anant.
