Choreographer's view
I think these new boys and girls have improved almost as much as 75 per cent in the last four episodes. Earlier, the movements were unfinished; the couples didn't have enough polish and the dance lacked fire and passion.
With Rs 20 lakh at stake for the winning choreographer, there is a hunger to win, and every choreographer is putting his or her best foot forward. Even the couples, who were no great dancers, have all become professionals.
Performance counts
I wish the choreographers would stop taking marks and judges' objective viewpoints critically. Darren Das (Maninee and Mihir's choreographer), challenged the marks allocated by Malaika Arora.
The judges don't view just costumes or dance movements, but the performance as a whole.
Even though everything was perfect with Sachin and Supriya's performance in the retro round (they danced to Chhod Do Anchal), I didn't rise and give them money because the performance didn't touch my heart.
There wasn't the kind of passion that Varun and Rajeshwari's performance had in the comedy round.
Age is a number
As judges, we are not biased. Couples can belong to any generation, but what matters is their performance. We have no clue what we are going to see, till the performances unfold on stage! Choreographers need to rise above that sort of pettiness and stupidity.
Rocking dance masters
So far, Jeet Singh — the choreographer for Shilpa and Apoorva Agnihotri — has done a consistent job. Even Archana and Parmeet's choreographer, Jasmin Oza, needs a pat on the back.
Al and Mel have extracted fantastic performances from Supriya and Sachin; they did everything from hip-hop to jazz with perfect timing, technique and movement, in Chhod Do Anchal.
The best performance, however, still has been Rajeev Surti's where he managed to get Rajeshwari and Varun to dance. I'd advise Delnaaz and Rajiv's choreographer, Shailesh, to have more faith in Delnaaz's ability to dance.
Poonam, Manish impress
Watch tonight how a couple with a bad run can suddenly have a fabulous performance. The wedding special was a round where it all came through for Poonam Narula and Manish Goyal.
They couldn't impress me much earlier, but in this round, they have managed to capture all the love, expression and longing in their performance. In the end, the audience can save or eliminate a couple tough their vote.
